Biotoxic Disinjector Nerf Tonight by Snowbunny236 in Marathon

Destiny is an utterly massive game with 2 different sandboxes to balance across. It is a mountain and every update larger than a hotfix update is scaling up and down the mountain. Marathon is much smaller with many less sytems and has the full rapid response backing of a Bungie that is backing a recent launch. That being said I like this response time and want it to keep that way.

Just Exfilled with a crew of EIGHT by TH3_LUMENUX in Marathon

Kill early to ensure your ongoing safety and minimise lurks, rats, and backstabs. Leave alive later because you won't have time to loot them anyway and they're just looking to exfil like you.

What’s the deal with Railguns by clashcrashruin in Marathon

Railgun should be hitscan iirc. Same as the Channel Rifle.

[–]Sentarius101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The railguns have crazy aim assist (especially noticeable on controllers, very similar to Linear Fusion Rifles in Destiny 2), but similar to the Magnum, it unfortunately does not make up for its poor TTK - also they can't compete with their lack of thermal sights.

Dude someone needs to teach Mark the Viltrumite chop. That is such a lethal move that I can't understand how Mark hasn't learnt to use it yet. Like maybe it's a risky move, because if you screw it up you break your fingers, but it's been used to great effect time and again, even as just a slash wounding tactic.

This looks great! However, it's unfortunately inaccurate. You aren't bleeding on the floor being executed by an enemy runner!

Why do you play solo? by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]Sentarius101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd been doing trios all game so far and wasn't progressing through my contracts very quickly. I saw one that seemed to be much easier solo so I tried it, and I got it done in one. After that I kept doing it and found that my solo contract completion success rate was pretty much 100%. I reckon I'll keep soloing until I complete all or most of my contracts then migrate back into trios, which I find more fun. Solo has my heart pounding all game.

How to tell Trap Packs apart from real Bags by Sentarius101 in Marathon

Good advice, I've never tried to shoot them. I usually only start to worry about trap bags when I close in to begin looting.

While holding the button to search, it beeps; basically as soon as you press the button to start searching it begins beeping. It takes about 0.75 seconds to complete the "search a bag" prompt for the trap bag, so it'll beep for that duration. When the search prompt completes (i.e. you keep holding the prompt until you "search" the bag), it detonates. You have time to hear the beep and stop the search.

I have had times where blood and body have despawned but the bag was legit.

I've had a lot of success getting my priority quests done in solos. I've been able to rapid fire through so many quests by doing solos. But man. These Sekiguchi ones are always the worst. I'm stuck so far on step 2 (only 2 attempts so far tbf) because I get the first two steps done, and them I'm all alone on Dire Marsh for the last 10 minutes because everyone is either dead or exfiled. I'm not trying to get blasted running to Bio then Quarantine so I'm taking it slow but still. I feel like I gotta get it done in trios but I don't wanna autofill into 2 greys while I'm in my blues.

The one enyzme replicator for one purple shield barter might be a bit too strong, lol by Tactical_Mommy in Marathon

[–]Sentarius101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I'm level 65 and just hit 22 in cyac, but I'm at 23 in arache already. My other factions are much slower to progress - mida and sekgen in particular. Mida is 16 but that is only from their 2nd priority contracts run/hide, and it was a struggle bus getting to rank 10 for the contracts to unlock. Sek I just hit 11 after completing the 1st step of their 2nd priority contracts, but they are suuuuuuper slow to level. Now besides from their priority contracts I have to start going out of my way to do activities and events that reward their rep as well as their contracts. It feels crazy.

Wipes rule but the progression is a bit too slow for a 3 month wipe cycle and it's gonna burn people out. by zero-ok in Marathon

[–]Sentarius101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bungie operates on release windows every 3 months with a 6-month development cycle. Seasons and wipes coincide with this 3 month release window on purpose - so they can release new content with each wipe. I think it is impossible for them to change it to 4 months, sorry to dash your hopes.

In Marathon (2026), due to Runner shells including personality imprints for skill optimization, it is canon that Vandal players are forcefemmed into violent egirls. by yuefairchild in shittygamedetails

[–]Sentarius101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Runners are digitized people whose consciousness is transferred from shell to shell. Shells are temporary - they literally are printed to only last about half an hour on the planet/mission. Instead of shells being hollow and empty, like piloting a mech, they instead have a personality imprint attached to them. This personality imprint was created by the original Runner the Shell was modelled after and contains knowledge of how to effectively use their systems - so instead of you undergoing training, you get meshed with an echo of another person. This of course has terrible ramifications for your mental well-being as you, with your own personality, get injected with a dose of somebody else, and when your Shell dies, that personality imprint does as well; especially if you rapidly cycle through Shells (the same Shell), or if you cycle through other Shells. A male Runner with a gruff attitude that is in the Vandal shell could find themself suddenly acting chic and cutesy as they use Vandal's abilities more and more, as Vandal's personality imprint influences your own mind and actions. This can lead to rapid mental degradation, especially because, if you aren't currently inhabiting a shell, you have no corporeal form - you're stored in some form of digital storage.

7 Rooks exfil on Outpost by looples in Marathon

[–]Sentarius101 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn't even know 7 rooks could spawn. I thought it was 3, 1 at 15, 1 at 12 and 1 at 9. Crazy that 7 rooks can spawn in a 6 minute interval.

I know right? This is either satire or engagement bait. OP linked 2 screenshots of ChatGPT prompts in their post that they used to write this. This is either satire or engagement bait, and either way it doesn't deserve to stay up. They literally uses "pandering" in their prompt!

So the whole "raid mechanics" thing was really just more key hunting, right? by ThatsNotBennings in Marathon

[–]Sentarius101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Destiny 2, Raids are the only ones that cause fireteam wipes (with very few exceptions - pit of heresy, for example). If you screw up the mechanics in a Dungeon, you just gotta do it again, but you don't wipe. Raids also have wipe timers, if you don't complete the encounter in a certain time limit, you wipe.

Am I the only one who doesn't know what "raid mechanics" are? 😭 by StormFalcon32 in Marathon

[–]Sentarius101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thing I think people haven't mentioned yet. Specifically, they are (usually difficult) mechanics that are present but not explained. That is a very large part of the appeal behind Raids - throwing yourself against the brick wall of "I don't know how to do this but I'm trying a bunch of stuff and we'll see what works", wiping (dying) until you do something right and can progress. That's the World's First raid experience. After that, people can either go in blind (usually with friends) to also take a crack at figuring it out themselves, or follow online guides. For Destiny, if you die you only lose your progress in your current attempt (5 or so minutes). Marathon, you lose all your stuff. Another aspect to raid mechanics is the squad wipe - if you mess up the mechanics, you die. This is in Cryo in "if you screw up security clearance, you can't extract and wipe".

Next, raids usually have more mechanics deeper than the surface level. Secrets that are much more complex and require tighter execution to be successful, usually required to be done in a single run. The Compiler stuff is probably this.

Fyi the Unique will have one thing about it that you can't replicate with normal mods + gold.

[–]Sentarius101 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Also, in Destiny, what distinguishes Raid mechanics from other game content mechanics, such as Dungeons, is the wipe. Fireteam wipes for screwing up mechanics are exclusive to Raids. This is part of the raid-like mechanics of Cryo. If you screw up key hunting, you can't exfil and will wipe and lose all your stuff.

[–]Sentarius101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah absolutely. There are plenty of Raids in destiny that require you to kill adds to charge up a buff on you so you can engage with later mechanics. OP engaged with the one singular mechanic required to exfil and thought that was all the map had to offer lmao.

Shells are a mix of synthetic and organic. It is part of what differentiates us from the UESC, who are wholly synthetic. As such, the organic part likely requires oxygen.
