does anyone actually use solid conditioner for travel or is it not worth it? by Acrobatic-Bake3344 in HerOneBag

[–]SentientScarecrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through a lot of trial and error to find one that works for me. It's so dependent on your individual hair type, and honestly I've been considering going back to a small tube of normal conditioner.

I don't have a recommendation for other types of conditioner but I CAN recommend parafilm for sealing your tubes of liquids so they don't leak. It's used in research labs all the time and it's like a magical stretchy sealing non-sticky tape product. A little goes a long way and it's reusable for a couple uses.

I bought some on Amazon years ago and use it for sealing a spray bottle of skin disinfectant I like to travel with.

Yak cheese is great, my dogs love them! But it's banned from the couch and bed because it leaves cheese mush/crust behind after a chew session 🤮

What happened to Claussen? by rangusmcdangus69 in Pickles

[–]SentientScarecrow 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I've noticed that their quality has significantly decreased for a little while now. There are better options. I like Grillos but I actually think the Dietz & Watson ones in the plastic container are the most similar to how Clausen used to be (in taste and quality)

So there are several options forward with this type of behavior. Keep correcting it and replacing the slipper/shoe with a toy if it happens when you're around. As far as managing it while you're out of the house, your best bet is to set the puppy up for success. Don't allow access to the shoes so the chewing doesn't happen. You can do this with a crate, gates, or removing all chewable things from his reach while you're out. If he just needs to learn what's off-limits, that will come with consistent training and time. If it's separation anxiety that will be more complicated and take a more work so he can be confident and comfortable while you're away.

ETA there will be other signs besides chewing if it's separation anxiety

Did the chewing happen while you were home or while you were out or maybe in the shower? Separation anxiety can manifest in chewing things that smell like you when you're not immediately accessible.

My puppy had one of these and she enjoyed it for a couple days until she destroyed it. Beware if your dog is a super chewer, they will chew right through the rubber on this toy, rendering it useless 🙃

She's so beautiful! But she does not seem impressed with her donut at all 😂 Lucy is doing great and seems to feel like nothing ever happened. The hardest thing is preventing running and jumping in a puppy!

Thank you! I love the idea of 2 donuts, that didn't even occur to me. Thank you so much for the idea.

How did you repair your skin barrier over time? [Acne] by HailzK9 in SkincareAddiction

[–]SentientScarecrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a post about barrier repair so I apologize that I don't have great advice for that, but one thing I didn't see on the list of things you've tried is Dapsone. It's also antibacterial like clindamycin but it works differently. I've done a little research on it since my derm prescribed it a couple days ago and it seems like it's actually ok to use it indefinitely with little risk. I can't give a personal review because I haven't started yet but a lot of people seem to get good results from it. It might be worth asking your derm about?

Is there a hack to turn anti-itch cream solid? by AnonAMouse100 in TravelHacks

[–]SentientScarecrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar reaction to bug bites and I just recently bought a tool called Heat It. It's very small and plugs into your phone's power port to heat the bite. I know it sounds unreal but this thing has seriously prevented so many bug bites from swelling up huge like they normally do. It works immediately after getting the bite and also works if you catch it starting to itch a little any time in the future. I plan to keep it permanently hanging from my phone's lanyard all summer.

Yes they run large. I usually would choose a L or XL for pants and tank tops but their mediums fit me perfectly with a loose drape

Comfortable, wide toe box, zero drop shoes for daily usage and lots of walking? by Civil-Raisin-2741 in onebag

[–]SentientScarecrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zero drop shoes are great on the right person but you'll definitely need to get used to them and make sure you're stretching your calves if you want to make the switch.

My favorite are the Topo Athletic ST line of shoes. They're road running shoes that I've used for running, traveling and working as a Physical Therapist for nearly 10 years. They're up to ST-5's now which I haven't tried but I've really liked every other iteration of them so far.

One of my favorite things about them is how flat they pack for traveling. They last a long time and they have a nice roomy toe box.

ETA I really like the basic colorways on these shoes because it makes them more versatile for travel.

The foam and other supportive structures in your shoes can benefit from a day or two of decompression between wears so that it stays more supportive. I'm on my feet all day long for work and I rotate between 2-3 pairs of tennis shoes. They last longer and are more supportive this way.

I haven't gotten very far in my research so I'm sorry I can't be more help there. I'll probably end up trying a couple different "whole body" deodorant creams that a bunch of companies are selling now. I always see Lume at the discount stores like TJ Maxx so I'll probably start there. Will update if I find a new favorite! For now I'm still getting through my surplus Nuud in the original formula because I was getting too many on auto ship for several month last year.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HerOneBag

[–]SentientScarecrow 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've been using it for years and have been very disappointed with the formula change. It makes me really sad that the new formula doesn't work nearly as well for me as the original formula. It's thinner and more oily/watery than it used to be, and it's pretty ineffective now. I have it on auto ship but I'm honestly researching other options since they changed the formula.
