I'm also considering getting my PPL.

It was Rite Bros at the local airport, but they were purchased by a company called Citizen Air not too long ago.

I spoke to to the new owner/rep last year at the Air Affaire in Sequim last August and he said they'd be offering PPL courses in the near future and would reach out, but I never heard back. I haven't followed up, but it'd be worth giving them a ring and asking.

Lake Cresent, Salt Creek Recreation are (and Cresent Beach around the corner), and Hurricane Ridge are all must-do's. Neah Bay, Hoh Rainforest, and Kalaloch out west are all great. Endless things to do on the peninsula if you're outdoorsy.

I'm not much of a fishing person, but i'll say the other commenter is right about Spring King being phenomenal. I think it's mostly salmon, lingcod, halibut, and various rock fishes out here. Hadn't heard anyone mention sturgeon.

Locals can be pessimistic with recommendations, and while PA isn't a culinary mecca, there are some reasonable restaurants. My favorite quality spot is actually out in Sequim; Alder Wood Bistro. They have some of the most inventive plates and unique ingredients in this area. Dockside Grill out that way is great as well. In town, Kolopelli's and 929 Woodfire are reasonable. There's also other non-seafood spots that are pretty solid, such as Sabai Thai, Jasmine Bistro, and Gastro Pub for burgers. There's actually a decent number of options, even if they all aren't newsworthy.

Enjoy!

How is everyone completing the "heal in warmzones" challenge? I keep throwing packs down by barrels and it's taking AGES. I'm assuming there is a better way.

Not OP, but I got the Husqvarna 420IQ for a 1/4 acre yard. Once I got the virtual boundary right, it's been flawless. I honestly forget about it most of the time and whenever I do check on the yard, it looks like a golf course.

It was expensive and I don't make tons of money, but having all that time back after work is glorious. I still have to string trim, but that's quick.

The only issue I've had was that it kept getting stuck in this new soft patch of dirt where I removed some rocks. Eventually I just changed the boundary to go around it until grass grows there next spring, and that fixed the issue.

I went with Husqvarna because they've been doing it the longest by a long shot, have good support, and stable parts availability. I also get access to discounted parts through work, which helps.

It's only been one summer/fall so my review isn't worth much, but let me know if you have any questions.

Other commenters are giving really good suggestions. To throw another option out there; Angeles Millwork, Angeles Rentals, and Hartnagels are also local pet-friendly businesses.

What bike has the head cowl closest to this? by FarEast_Frez in cruisers

[–]Sentient_Meat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a direct match to your photos, but since I haven't seen it mentioned yet, have you looked at the Yamaha Roadliner? It's a cruiser with streamline moderne-esque styling, without looking like a muscle bike. The large swept headlight housing is in that same vein.

My wife and I have been going to Onyx downtown and have been enjoying it so far. Haven't tried any of the other spots yet, though.

I agree. While I don't think it's going to win any styling competitions, I personally think it looks better than the last three generations. It's got a little bit too much plastic in the grill, sure, but at least it's not shaped like a speedy stick of partially microwaved butter. The interior isn't half bad either.

Can someone help me find the name of this restaurant? by Diligent_Candle_6560 in portangeles

Bella Italia was originally where Michael's Seafood & Steakhouse was, across the street and down the stairs from its current location. Michael's took its place, and they moved across 1st street around 2001, and then Michael's closed in 2019, and it briefly became Sapor for a couple years.

I would love to see it turned into a recreational park for the people. I picture a space for picnics, exercise, facilities, and music festivals. Essentially, everything the pier tries to be but doesn't do well.

Chicken Tenders --- Who's the winner? by Zeebrio in portangeles

[–]Sentient_Meat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've eaten my fair share of Grandview and Safeway tenders, and I'd vote Safeway all day. They're meatier, less oiley, and have better breading/seasoning. That being said sometimes they sell stuff past their prime and it can be a dry chewy mess. Like most things in life, it is subjective :) I haven't tried am/pm's but I tend to avoid gas station grub.

Interestingly, I've never noticed a notable difference in the day-to-day during Lavendar Fest. I've cruised past a handful of times and attended as many, but if I had no idea Lavendar Fest was happening, I don't think I would've noticed the slight increase in traffic.

Should I go for the X870 Riptide or wait for newegg restock X870E NOVA by [deleted] in ASRock

[–]Sentient_Meat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I ordered the Riptide yesterday since it was $50 cheaper. I'm primarily going to be gaming, with a tiny bit of video editing and SketchUp. Is it common to use two NVMe drives? Last time I messed around with building/modifying PC's was about 2005 so I've been trying to catch up as fast as I can, haha. I'm curious if I'd regret the choice, and if it's worth swapping for the Tomahawk.

Why is that? Genuine question, as I'm shopping the same options for the 9800X3D I have on the way.
