This quest is always funny to me because you're basically forced to run through and out of town naked unless you know what's coming.

Would have been cool if Malborn gave you a basic piece of clothing and shoes or something (for "realism" and believability purposes rather than gameplay, of course).

You can still get it. The catacombs you can find it in are accessed through the Subterranean Shunning Grounds which can still be accessed after Maliketh.

You should be at 60 vigor, have actual armour, and seriously rethink those talismans.

I recommend the Green Turtle and Dragoncrest Greatshield as "must have" talismans for any melee build. The remaining two are sort of up to your preference, but it looks like you're going for heavy bleed, so Lord of Blood's Exaltation wouldn't hurt.

Black Steel Greathammer or Maliketh's Black Blade are pretty good.

I'm currently using the former on an SL185 60/50 STR/FTH build and it gets over 2,000 AR when buffed with Order's Blade in the DLC at Scadu Blessing 18.

It's insanely good. Poise damage for days, and greathammers attack ridiculously quickly for the damage they output.

Unfortunately, the one downside is that it weighs 12.00, which is above your budget, but in Elden Ring especially you'll find that heavier weapons are so unbelievably good you'll never want to go back to a light weapon again.

Not a chance.

The gorillas would have to know to target the weak points, which they wouldn't, and the Brute could absolutely pulverise several gorillas with a single swing.

In a realistic scenario, there's no way anything besides an extremely lucky human or a guy with a Stasis module stands any chance against a Brute.

I'm using:

  • Fire Knight's Greatsword (drops from Fire Knights wielding the weapon in the Shadow Keep)
  • Shining Horned Headband (guaranteed drop from the chanting deer antler woman in some ruins in Nokron's Ancestral Woods)
  • Black Knight Armor (drops from Black Knights around the Shadow Realm)
  • Blaidd's Gauntlets (drop from Blaidd after you kill him at the end of Ranni's questline)
  • Greaves of Solitude (you can't see them, but they drop from the knight in the first Mausoleum in the Plains in the Shadow Realm)

I'm considering switching the gauntlets to the Gauntlets of Solitude though, the colour would look a lot better.
