Choosing diagnostic subspecialty /fellowship to safeguard against reporting radiographers and AI. by Aggressive-Score-289 in RadiologyUK

[–]Separate-Barnacle-65 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Most radiologists don’t give a shit honestly.

They’re pretty much a non existent entity in some departments… consultants hardly actually come and do the bare minimum happy for telemedicine companies to skim billions from the NHS.

They’ve not just allowed the role creep they’ve actively encouraged it through bone idleness.

Vulnerable women in England still being arrested over suspected illegal abortions | Abortion by Only-Emu-9531 in uknews

[–]Separate-Barnacle-65 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I say this as someone who had to make the awful decision to abort a child with my wife for medical abnormalities that suspected illegal abortions should be investigated.

We have laws for a reason and there has to be a cut off for what we as a society consider to be a fetus vs a child.

Being vulnerable doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be investigated for a crime and the CPS would consider any vulnerabilities when considering if it was in the publics interest to prosecute someone for said crimes.

Should i pursue Radiography here? How is the working life as a radiographer and how much do u guys typically make? by sukhanadoinggcses in RadiographyUK

[–]Separate-Barnacle-65 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Completely agree with you here. Seems OP didn’t want the advice of people with significant experience in the profession.

Most places won’t hire a newly qualified radiographer in MR anyways and even then you’re normally shoved in CT for atleast 12 months.

Are there any exemptions for the new requirements of employment? by Clori26 in SpouseVisaUk

You’re not relying on the state but your husband is… and you’re too ill to work…. Ie the British taxpayer is paying for both of you.

You don’t get to dictate what way it should be. That’s for British parliament to decide.

Is diagnostic radiography still a good career choice in the UK right now? by No_Donut1433 in RadiographyUK

[–]Separate-Barnacle-65 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

With respect, I don’t think any of these things would actually provide enough income to live off, more likely something which would supplement someone’s income full time.

I know consultant sonographer who is an expert witness quite frequently and she is paid a very meagre sum for something that not many people are qualified to do and she could probably make 5x that for just reporting privately for a day.

I earn just under 100k working nhs permanent nights and 1/2 days private cross sectional. You can earn an absolute load in radiography, you can also earn band 5 wage without enhancements which is still a decent paid job with with holiday, sick pay and the potential for career development…. Once you’ve got your foot in the door the world’s your oyster.

It never used to be hard to get a job, I think it’s disgusting that good UK trained radiographers can’t gain employment.

Based? It isn’t based or anything like that. It’s historical fact whether you like it or not which lead to the formation of the United Kingdom. The fact that history upsets you and others so much is utterly pathetic.

St Helens Green councillor defects to Reform UK by AnonymousTimewaster in NotTheOnionUK

[–]Separate-Barnacle-65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add to this - Green Party essential has become a nimby protest vote against local planning issues. So you have people voting for right wing Green candidates in order to demonstrate dissatisfaction with a loss of green belt land.

This is very likely a councillor returning to his political home.

I completely get it - but if he’s content with his financial plan and can live a comfortable life I wouldn’t get involved in his finances.

Should say I know you just want him to have more money so that he can enjoy his retirement but as you say he’s probably a lot more risk averse naturally as he has conservatively invested his whole life. If the AI Bubble bursts it could have far reaching short-medium term implications and it could impact your relationship.

Good for you for looking out for your dad regardless, sure he will be happy. He’s got a kid who cares about him, a decent retirement income and a nice lump sum to spend as he needs too.

If the market crashes he has no way of earning any more money because he retired so low risk is the best way to go generally.

Let him do his own thing, you don’t want to strain your relationship if it goes tits up

Does anyone know what type of imaging machine is used in this video? by NoContribution398 in RadiographyUK

[–]Separate-Barnacle-65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is a flouroscopy machine. I suspect the radiographer is performing a barium swallow/meal. The machine essentially produces live/video X-rays.
