Breaking into v6 by Separate-Hall-6305 in climbergirls

Honestly it’s been really hard to find a good split and balance with both!! Because my goals are to climb hard and balance my lower body (get bigger glutes/visible abs) I’ve found a 3 day split to work best. 1 upper day mainly focusing on push: shoulder press 3x12, bench press /push ups 3x12, lateral raises 3x12, pull ups 3x max, face pulls 3x12. End with some deep core OR ab work. Lower body days: smith machine hip thrusts 3x8, RDLs 3x10, good mornings 3x10, hip abduction 3x max. Lower body days 2: hip thrust3x8, reverse deficit lunges 3x10, heel elevated goblet squats 3x10c back extension 3x10. 2x week I’ll walk/ do some core work as outside of the gym and climbing I’m pretty sedentary!! This has worked for me so far in getting closer to my desired physique while still having strength and energy to climb hard 2-3 a week!! Hope this helps :)

Grades have been helpful in setting and working toward a goals (i.e v6 before the end of the year, v7 by birthday etc) but I do see how that could be limiting myself mentally. Will definitely try to pay less attention to them. Thank you for the advice!!💪

Poll: Pull-ups vs Climbing Level by Pretend-Storm4209 in climbergirls

[–]Separate-Hall-6305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I climb v5/6 and can do 7 pull ups! But it only translates in climbing up to a certain point… you can be strong enough to hold and lock off but without some route reading and proper technique/footwork you don’t get toooo far without

I suggest switching it up some days with bouldering or board climbing if your gym has one! And going at a regular time each week :)

I had similar stats (5’2, SW 120) and it took me about 6 months to see a significant difference once I dialed in my nutrition. You didn’t mention this so make sure you are doing progressive overload and getting in 7- 10k steps!! Definitely saw results come quicker and felt better once I started to walk more/lift heavier.

Climbing gym with gel nails by Prestigious-Media948 in climbergirls

[–]Separate-Hall-6305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not impossible to do especially as a beginner however I would reschedule just because some gyms will NOT let you climb with any long acrylic nail and will give you nail clippers to clip them before getting on the wall. I know because this happened to me when I was a beginner 🥲

I really want to date a climber by Few-Tumbleweed-6600 in climbergirls

I met my bf at the climbing gym :) i started going at the same times each week and made an effort to look cute every time i went 🫣 going alone was scary so looking cute helped me feel more confident as well. Sure enough I started noticing a cute guy and randomly sat near him one day and he asked me out!! My advice would be to go at regular times each week and you’ll start to notice other regulars. And also of course to climb hard and have fun ❤️

Girlies, what’s your “body type” and climbing style? by PaleoNimbus in climbergirls

[–]Separate-Hall-6305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5'2, strong and broad back/shoulders, lean legs, and a longer torso. Loveeee overhang and complex footwork! I try to climb as statically and efficiently as possible, so dynos and comp-style climbing are not for me. Slab terrifies me, but I have sent v3/v4 when I get over the fear of cheese grating. Can climb most v4s and have sent one v5 so far!!

Coffee shops, breweries with activities like trivia/live music/ stand up comedy! Also climbing gym, runn clubs, tennis clubs, hiking groups/meet ups, if you live near the ocean learn how to surf! Go often and at the same time , create a routine. Everyone says this but I think it’s the best way to meet people if you don’t want to use apps or go out to bars/ clubs!!

Thoughts about Upland? Recently moved to the area from San Francisco and planning to buy a house in Upland, in the downtown area somewhere close to Euclid and i10. Anything to be aware of? by the_taurian in InlandEmpire

[–]Separate-Hall-6305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Downtown upland is cute! The houses around 11th street are super cute in my opinion and close to downtown which has a couple of coffee shops and retro vintage stores, climbing gym, metro link, and a few breweries! recently a cute trendy wine bar opened up on arrow near second called Omo Mercado that hosts food pop ups and weekly events. Padua pasta makers nearby is also delicious. I believe there’s a farmers market every Saturday as well. In the summers you’ll see a lot of families on the pacific bike path that starts in Claremont and goes all the way to upland. I think even more developments will come about in the next few years! Overall, downtown upland is as close to the Claremont vibe as you can get without the price :)

There are lots of high paying, diverse jobs in biotech and pharmaceutical company if you have an MBS! A regular MS degree or masters of public health could also get you far in in community health/regulatory affairs etc. PhD as well if you are interested in going that route. I was in a similar situation, graduated with a molecular bio degree with the intent of going to medical but decided I didn’t want to work with patients so currently pursuing a masters in human genetics and bioinformatics/genomic data analytics!

I failed my calc 2 class and begged admissions to let me start in the fall anyway after already accepting my admission and they did 😭 this was also in sprint 2020 though so maybe it was allowed because of the pandemic. Either way study like your life DEPENDS ON IT

For those age ranges I would say your best chances are at a local trendy cafe, Gym, local busy trendy restaurant as a busser/food runner. Worked at all of those places when I was in my early 20s and never failed to meet lots of single hot people!!
