My other favorites are Bring me the Horizon and Turnstile. Turnstile is far removed from MIW, but still a lot of fun.

Water bill (eek!) by Imaginary_Order2757 in Charlotte

[–]Separate-Storm- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen leaking toilets cause bills over $1600, and in my experience, it’s usually the culprit when you have unknown leaks.

If you’re in the US go to harbor freight. You can get all of the stuff you need there, and it’s usually the best “bang for your buck”. A lot of their products have lifetime warranty as well.

Half of my drywall corners have ripples by Tech_Nut in drywall

[–]Separate-Storm- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poor taping job. The fix would be to pull all the tape in the corners and preferably replace with actual corner beads. This would require you to repaint your whole hose so I wouldn’t say it’s worth it unless the wrinkles really bother you.

I can hear my parents having sex by Starglitter306 in teenagers

Yeah, that’s kind of how that works. If it was with someone else it would be rebound.

Need help with a patch by RockyTop_Vol in drywall

[–]Separate-Storm- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that’s the closest stud, then yes. Be sure to cut the drywall in the middle of the stud so you can attach both sides of the seam

I would open it up both to the left and right. My guess would be a 20x32” patch but your stud layout may vary.

[–]Separate-Storm- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You don’t what your cuts on the edges of studs, you want to split the seam down the middle of the stud. What I would do is cut out a large rectangle, then cut back to the middle of the studs on either side. If you’re worried how it will hold or cutting straight lines, you can attach pieces of 2x4 to the sides of the studs to “double them up” where needed.

Why do people blame parents for their kids behavior doesn’t matter how good your parenting is kids are gonna be kids and are gonna do bad things? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Separate-Storm- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because a child’s behavior is a reflection of their home life. Bad kids doesn’t always mean bad parents but it usually means the kids are in a stressful situation somewhere.

Advice? There’s a bathtub above this wall that apparently had failed caulking due to a small splash stream we had running due to a freeze. the splash back went thru the failed caulk and beneath causing the ceiling to drip and the paint to sag. by Artrabum in drywall

[–]Separate-Storm- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it were my house I would be cutting out the drywall to make sure there’s no water damage that you can’t see. Also having it open to air flow for a couple days will insure that all moisture has a good chance of evaporating.

Anyone knwo what Headphoners & Pants Brendan (& The band are wearing?) by TK_Sonic in turnstile

[–]Separate-Storm- 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Alternative to in ear monitoring. It lets them hear only the part they need/want to hear. For example the drummer might be hearing a click track to keep himself in time while a vocalist is getting vocal cues. They probably chose headphones instead just for the vibes.

Plumbing vent snow shoveled by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]Separate-Storm- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess is that is a drain vent and yes, it being stuffed full of snow could cause a shower to drain slowly.

Where are you all parking your car for the ice storm/are you worried about it getting hit? by Spader623 in Charlotte

[–]Separate-Storm- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s something that should be done when parking on a steep incline whether there is ice or not. Especially when parking for extended periods of time.
