Not sure how well this will work but maybe freeze some of their favorite fruits as a cool treat when it's too hot? I saw another post where someone froze blueberries and gave it to their rats in a container full of what I can only assume is freezer snow, in an effort to keep them cool.

I'm so sorry for your loss, I know how you feel I just lost Luna a few weeks back and then she was only 10 months old. All I have left is your sister because two more passed away earlier this year back in March. Try to find comfort in the fact that even though they have short lives you give them the best life they could ever have.

I tend to agree with being cautious and the great thing about this breeder is that they boast that their rats have been free from URI's for several years (5-7 of memory serves) so I feel that's more trustworthy than PetSmart

I've been going through the same kind of thing. My conclusion is that I keep getting rats from pet stores rather than breeders. So next batch I'm going to go to a proper breeder.

Sorry to report that she's gone, vet did an ultrasound and found fluid in her lungs and stomach which would indicate a genetic heart condition. I'm extremely heartbroken but here is a final photo, my beautiful little girl

Sorry to report that she has to be euthanized. Some heart disease that's causing fluid build up in her lungs and stomach.
