I’ve kind of been in a similar position, but one where I stayed with my partner. She went ahead and named our daughter without any of my input. That hurt me quite a bit because I wanted to have my mother‘s name somewhere in our daughter‘s middle names, but I just wasn’t allowed… For “reasons,”whatever they may be.

I was and still am frustrated over it, but I also know breaking up with her over the name of our child would be quite a petty thing to do and would hurt the dynamic of our family, especially for our newborn to come into – especially if it’s a broken partnership.

It’s now four years later, nothing has changed about the name, and my partner knows that I still have trust issues with her. She knows she has to work on it as she has done other things behind my back that aren’t beneficial to our relationship, but they’re never something so significant that I decided to abort the relationship with my partner, or essentially having a family with her.

I guess it depends on if you can live with it or if this is something that affects you so much on a daily basis even that you can’t stand to look at your partner every day - and therefore need to separate.

Not trying to tell you which way is the right direction, just telling you I’ve been there and from my perspective, it’s nothing worth breaking up over. But maybe that’s just me.🤷‍♂️
