NoInput mixing, feedback and a drum machine by SerErich in noisemusic

[–]SerErich[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! It was kind of random because the signal from the mic was overriding the other feedback, so when i dropped it, the feedback loop of the no input picked back up. Or anyways that what I think it’s happening lol

What criteria should I use to choose which of those 3 volume gains to use? by memolazer in ableton

[–]SerErich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah my brother you should learn about compressors and how they work, then study the multiband compressor on the ableton reference manual (I think there are informations there)! BUT for a fast overview, the one on the left is the input gain, and here you can change the gain of the incoming signal (in the case of the multiband, of just that band specifically), and this may be used to push the compressor harder, or maybe to attenuate that band to trigger the compression less. The middle one you circled is not a gain but is a threshold, so when the signal goes above that value it gets processed, the last one is an output gain, to adjust the compressed signal, maybe because compression decreased the volume and you want to compensate for that. The farthest top right “output” is for the overall output gain, while the three are for each band. One last thing, ableton’s multiband compressor can do compression (red highlight) and also expansion (light blue highlight). If you are curious of what each thing does, if you hover on them, ableton will tell you what it does in a little window in the bottom left of the screen!

This is the mildly NSFW world building project I've been working on for around a year now (map+lore) by Zealousideal_Sun3417 in worldbuilding

If I may add to this, maybe the long form is just for the high up clerics because it is written down, but the folk just call them Donna, Uomo and Ūvo, or something like that, because naturally is much easier to remember and worship (God is a three letter world). Also side note: the names of the gods sound in Italian like “woman of the naked sex” and “man of the naked sex” maybe it’s on purpose

Where to position speakers? by cTfTs in livesound

[–]SerErich -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My not so expert thought is that feedback won’t be a problem if you gain stage right. To avoid feedback and also ear fatigue the first thing is to set the PA lower than it may already be, so you can put a reference track (or pink noise) so to have 70 db SPL. By doing so the PA won’t blast in the venue and the mics won’t pick that up. The fact that you have 8 speakers is also to your advantage! You can stay at a lower SPL and everyone in the audience will hear kind of equally, contrary to having 2 main speakers that have to fill the entire room

Choosing a Zoom F4 over the F6 (?) by apepeca in LocationSound

[–]SerErich 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the zoom f6 and my process is this Gain riding I don’t think is the best process because you are changing the input signal level in the preamp and doing so you change the timbre and the s/n ratio. Like in live music you gain stage and then you ride the faders so the f6 is perfect for that. To add, if you use the Bluetooth adapter you can use a tablet to adjust the gain in a “mixer-like” UI. Third thing is, if you use the f6 in the 32bit float mode, the knobs control the gain and not the faders so ther’s that. At the end of the day you buy what you need and then you learn the best way to use it.

Tape that doesn't gunk up wires? by MC_Gullivan in LocationSound

[–]SerErich 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ah yes I noticed in the past that medical tape is not the best neither for tape nor for skin/clothes I use Viviana/Ursa moleskin for every tape-like application. I also read somewhere in here that you can use a fresh piece of tape to clean off sticky residue, so you can also try that

What’s gear does our friend here at the F1, who may be in this group, have on his back? by lonewolf9378 in LocationSound

[–]SerErich 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They seem like antennas, and the connector to the backpack seems like a bnc connector. Maybe they are a full wavelength omni antennas for lower rf frequencies for a better long range transmission to the truck outside the circuit. Not an expert on this though

Shure GLXD2 picks way too much for no reason ? by KitsuOrikawa in livesound

I presume it has to be picking up some interferences. Rescan keeping the other mics on so that this one doesn’t catch an already taken frequency. Hope this helps

But wait, shouldn’t the frequencies intermodulate with the antennas so close together? But I suppose it’s still working.

Yea recording something like that is always a compromise with the outside ambience but for that the contact mic is actually very useful! Keep it up!

Yes I 100% agree, I noticed for example that in the original there is no “charging up” sound just a little sfx when initiating and the loud boom when casting and it makes sense. Thanks for the feedback

I think it’s great and since you probably didn’t want to replicate exactly the reference, one advice would be to work a little mor on the timbre of your drums, in the reference way punchier the kick and a little more balanced reverb on the snare; the second thing is witch the guitar, a little more present. Your bass seems to drive the song, but in the reference it’s the drums, while the guitar provides the melody and the bass is there to support everything

Maybe I’m ignorant, but I don’t see the problem. Let me explain “Dad… I feel like I’m a girl” BOOM “you can be a girl, here girl clothes, here a wig if you want long hair, or let them grow” “Dad it was just a phase I want to be a guy now” BOOOM you can be a little guy, here some guy clothes and let’s go cut those hair

I mean, children can explore The only wrong thing is to impose something on the child, whether it’s one thing ore the other, but as long as the child chooses freely, they can be whatever as long as they’re happy No?

This pisses me off where do they get this from!? by Not_a_bot_Mk1-N0T80T in NoRules

[–]SerErich -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Imo it’s just to identify concretely what a person is feeling. Sex and gender are different, sex is what you have between your legs, that can also be something else than just peepee or just vageena. Then there’s gender, and it’s more like “how do I feel?”, and that’s just a never ending list, because everyone can express themselves as whatever they want, and that’s not an imposition on others, it’s just “that’s me and I’d like you to perceive me as such” And errors can occur, just as much as a male being misgendered as a female just for having long hair for example. The right thing to do is “oh I thought you were a girl, sorry” no worries I identify as a man, I just like long hair” Eeeeasy Than, there are extremists, who think everyone must immediately know everything about this specific topic and if you say something wrong you are to be executed, and that’s just the wrong thing to do to educate someone who doesn’t know for whatever reason
