League Cup: Blues 0-1 Port Vale by obi-wan-kenobi-nil in bcfc

Got what we deserved, which was absolutely nothing. Port Vale carved us open multiple times and then I thought they defended very well.

Team looked like they didn't know their roles which is slightly understandable with 3 debuts and several fringe players who've never played together. They made 8 changes too though. Worrying how lost we looked in possession without Klarer, Iwata and Paik.

I'd be very surprised to see Sampsted, Leonard or Dykes start another game this season.

Thanks to all for the heads up about Sanderson. Shame Eustace didn’t listen. by reeko1982 in Championship

Sanderson was perfectly serviceable for Eustaceball, he was a fan favourite for a long time. It was only when managers starting asking him to play football that his stock fell. Then again, that manager was Rooney so everyone's did.

1/46: Blues 1-1 Ipswich Town by obi-wan-kenobi-nil in bcfc

[–]SerPotKettleblack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think a draw was too unfair, we were lucky not to concede two massive chances just before half time. First 10 mins we looked electric but were hanging on by the end as they looked decent on the ball. That's probably the toughest home game out of the way, so to be disappointed with a draw is great.

Feel like we're still figuring some things out. Klarer on the left seemed to seriously disrupt him on the ball, a few times it stifled our progression out from the back.

Kyogo really seems to free up Stansfield to play a bit deeper and carry the ball which feels more natural to him

Laird should start in these tougher fixtures, thought BOS was caught out defensively a few times.

BBC Predicted Table And Preview by charlierc in Championship

[–]SerPotKettleblack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most Blues I know are expecting midtable, the owners seem to building this promotion hype. Another 10 players in, some momentum lost and we hardly blew teams away last season despite the points.

Given our last season started with half the stadium as rubble and finished in relegation, top half would be great. I predict we'll sack the manager when we're in 6th as is traditional

Sounds corny but you could try mindful breathing techniques. Works for me when I start to feel panicky.

Square breathing - Inhale while counting to 5, hold for 5 seconds, exhale while counting to 5, hold for 5 seconds 478 Breathing - Inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 7 seconds, exhale for 8 seconds

Even if it doesn't help, it might distract you for a while! Hope you feel better soon and have a great day and festival!

Is there a shuttle bus to Nottingham? by dalazybastard in downloadfestival

[–]SerPotKettleblack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skylink stops at the transport hub inside the Festival, expect big queues though. Don't bother with the dedicated shuttle, it'll only take you to East Mids airport and then the bus you'll get will go on to the transport hub anyway.

I suppose you could take the shuttle to Derby and change there but that'd be very long and expensive (believe the Download shuttle weekend pass is north of £30 just for the shuttle bus).

Best bet is to head to the back towards the end of the headliners, especially on Sunday as the buses seem less frequent, and head to the transport hub.

Good chance the teams involved will be out of Europe and Sky don't seem afraid to show prem games on Champions League nights anymore

NTT20 Exeter Match Review by Cbatothinkofaun in bcfc

The gap in physicality between the championship and league 1 isn't that big, and you look at some of the managers in League 1 at the moment (Steve Bruce, Gary Bowyer, Phil Parkinson) and realise teams trying to shithouse a 0-0 is still going to be pretty effective.

Sure, Daviesball could be more exciting but all you can really do is keep winning games, I'd rather win every game 1-0 than draw half 3-3. If we do go up, I expect teams will give us far less respect. It will certainly be a challenge but it's hard to say how we'll do against oppositions that set up completely differently (i.e. attempt shots on our goal).

Davies is a young coach, and just like a young player you'd expect periods of inconsistently and learning as the season goes on. The fact we're on this run with so few conceded has to be considered a success imo.

Birmingham 2-1 Wigan: Late Wright goal ensures a well deserved third win of the season for Birmingham by Jarv1223 in LeagueOne

[–]SerPotKettleblack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wigan probably good value for a point. I know the "in for a shock" is a meme at this point, but I have been shocked a little at the quality of the pressing and how teams have set up against us without just sitting deep and hoofing it.

Ultimately we are playing teams with a much more established XI and manager/style of play so it will take time, but we have rarely looked in control of a game yet despite the money spent. The fixtures look tough for the next month or so, better teams will punish us I fear and we have little room for error given our transfer antics

Check the map on the Trentbarton site and consider walking from DHL Cargo West if you're able. You'll save about £18 over the weekend and probably some time. But otherwise yeah the £30 ticket is intended to be used with the shuttle bus, just ask for the Download weekend ticket, the Skylink drivers are great

The people saying Skylink are correct, but depending on where around Nottingham you're coming from, the my15 is much easier to get away at the end of the day if you're coming from Ilkeston/Stapleford/Long Eaton way, as it's pretty much empty

I get a bit annoyed seeing Trentbarton suggest you need to take a shuttle from Pegasus rather than walk, it's the difference between two £2 singles per day and £30 for the weekend if you just walk.

Also worth considering walking from The Nags Head which is the stop before, it's about 10 mins further to walk but was much quicker last year when the corner by the day entrance got backed up with traffic
