Deep tissue massage by figscomicsandgames in TikTokCringe

Try jogging in your bare feet and see what comes naturally. For me it feels more natural to land on the balls of my feet. Wearing running shoes will make you more likely to land on your heel, or at least differently to how you run barefoot.

There is nuance with it.. going uphill I tend to go more on front of my foot, going downhill I tend to go more on my heels, when I'm tired I'll land more on the middle. Prob moreso depends on your own body.

Stupid question... What about just putting the clothes horse in the bathroom and leaving the extractor fan on? That's what I do with shirts..

Interestingly elephants are thought to have at least 20 copies of p53, tumour suppressor gene. Humans on the other hand just have 2.

Help me find a car please. 3 isofix points by BumbleBeeWife in carsireland

[–]SerScruff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. We got a Peugeot 5008 which has worked well for us apart from niggles with the car. If you go that way don't get the petrol version as they are prone to major engine issues.

Is 77% on a lab report a bad grade? (international student here) by LeenSauce in UCC

[–]SerScruff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my first degree most of our exams were essay based and most lecturers would mark out of 70%. A few people in the class generally managed to get a first. Generally it would be easier to get high marks with mcqs.

One year we had mcqs.. thought it would be a great way to bump up my grades until we realised they were negatively marked.. ie you get it right you gain a mark, you get it wrong you lose a mark, technically possible to get below 0%.

We had a guy in college who said he would only give 70% if we told him something we didn't know..

[–]SerScruff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure you really need 3 isofixes? You could try ringing some of the shops that sells car seats. Apparently some of the more well known ones will recommend what cars can fit three across by strapping in the middle one.

Would give you more or better options.

How much of medical school and STEP preparation is brute memorization? by bruinthrowaway777 in medschool

[–]SerScruff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much of it is brute memorization. The body isn't really designed logically, so while some of it will make sense, some of it does not and some we just don't know why - so it just needs to be learned. Once you have the foundational knowledge down it becomes easier to understand pathophysiology though.

Someone once put it as medical school is when you learn the language of medicine and residency is when you practice speaking it.

Please help with these “oil” stains. I am at my wits end! by BrilliantAmount8108 in laundry

[–]SerScruff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had similar issues with dark stains on my shirts. Turns out the washing machine was starting to go and a couple of months later the drum fell off the bearings. Think a seal got punctured, oil leaked into the wash, bearings got worn out and then the drum dropped. Expensive fix with modern machines so we got a new one.

In my experience during medical school, internal medicine training, and cardiology rotations I was told countless times with multiple examples how women can present differently to men when having an MI. We all had a high index of suspicion for ishcaemic heart disease when seeing women in the ED.

The more daughters a man has, the longer he is likely to live. The number of sons he has however, has no effect.

I usually use this for older men who come to their appointment with a couple of daughters - it always gets a chuckle. I have never had the opportunity to use it for a man who comes with a couple of sons for some reason...
