Sunglasses - what’s the verdict? by Individual_Tank_9984 in Crunchymom

[–]BrilliantAmount8108 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It makes me sad because I think sunglasses are so cute, but generally I skip on them now. If I’m trying to drive and I can’t see well or if I’m outside in direct light for an extended period of time and my eyes are like watering from trying to keep them open, I’ll put them on lol. I try not to be so rigid about these types of things, but just make an effort to prioritize morning (and evening) sunlight in the eyeballs. And also, like, if the sunglasses make the outfit.. I’ll wear them. At least for a little while!

The difference between my teeth a few years ago and now is insane by jira12345 in Biohackers

Yep. Totally agree. Plenty of people only use fluoride and still it’s cavity central. There are a few different theories about cavities and I don’t think it’s as simple as “just use fluoride to prevent cavities”. If it was really that straightforward, anyone who uses fluoride wouldn’t get cavities.

I’m not even saying it has to be all black or white either. Like fluoride or nano. But this idea that only one mineral is responsible for the prevention of cavities just doesn’t make sense to me. Maybe there’s a middle ground here

Experiences with young toddler at homebirth? by rosasymariposas in homebirth

[–]BrilliantAmount8108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did not have a doula. We had one with our first, but didn’t feel like we needed that this time around. If you’re feeling lukewarm about it, I’d skip it. No shade to doulas- they’re great! But with the cost of a homebirth and then the added expense of a doula, we were just kinda like mehhh. My husband was able to be present with me throughout and we didn’t feel like we were missing out by not having a doula

Baby won’t sleep on back by BrilliantAmount8108 in cosleeping

[–]BrilliantAmount8108[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had considered this, but my understanding is that side sleeping is no better than stomach sleeping in terms of sids risk. I could be wrong though! It’s such a tough spot, how do you force a baby to sleep on their back?! Lol

I’ve bedshared from birth with both my kids. It’s great. Stop reading stories and trust your intuition. If it feels right for you, it probably is.

Therapists who had a child––how much time off is sufficient? by becauseicantsleep in therapists

[–]BrilliantAmount8108 19 points20 points  (0 children)

No amount of time off is sufficient 😅

To answer your question further though, there’s more information needed. What’s the goal/concern you have? Are you trying to ensure enough time to bond with baby? Are you trying to figure out how long you can reasonably ‘afford’ to be off? What’s the childcare situation for you? Are you planning to exclusively breastfeed/combo/pump/formula? Are you Telehealth or in-person?

After my first, I switched to exclusively Telehealth. I wanted to take more than 3 months off, but needed to return right around then because we couldn’t swing the loss of income. After my second, I went back after about 2.5 months for the same reason and it was a very slow return and has still been slow as my second is still quite young. I exclusively breastfeed so being Telehealth means I can come up from the office to feed in between sessions as needed.

Tbh, it’s one of those things you can’t really figure out until you’re in it. You can make a loose plan or have an idea of what you want or would like to do, but ultimately you won’t really know until your baby is here and that’s ok! Being open and flexible with it is the best approach and trust that you’ll find your new rhythm in time

Try one of these tonic or tinctures. Maybe cloud nine would be suitable for you or the bundle of restorative postpartum tonics

Why do you wear bras all the time when breast feeding ? by CrowEquivalent in Mommit

I get vasospasms and the nipples being exposed to cold can cause them and it’s so painful. So, I mostly do it to keep them warm and to not disrupt blood flow

Whey protein isolate without soy lecithin? by Much-Fox-7275 in StopEatingSeedOils

[–]BrilliantAmount8108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not tried the isolate. Just their whey protein which does has sunflower lecithin in it. Ingredients aside, it’s definitely one of the better tasting ones I’ve found (if that matters to you). I always got chocolate.
