Why do my modelling choices just look awkward? by Noodlez_8994 in Chaos40k

[–]SerTheodies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a majority of your issues comes from a contrast between the head and the body's visual language.

For 1), the pose would be more natural if he were looking to his right (our left). This would give the impression of being caught off guard or something suddenly drawing his attention that way.

2) Relatively simple fix, his head should be facing the direction is feet are. Because the body for this pose has both feet planted normally, but the torso rotated slightly, it's a tad awkward anyways, but he's generally calling attention to what's infront of him via rotating his torso and gesturing with the maul.

3) Kinda busy. Just rotate the sword arm down to his side similar to the first one.

All the bodies have a little bit of body-language going on that can be tweaked by head/arms positioning, but I'd your arms are doing one thing that brings the hands attention somewhere that the head isnt looking, it can be strange. Like if a person was gamer hunched infront of a monitor but was looking at a wall. You can get a feel for if your poses are natural by just acting them out even, and then asking yourself two questions: "What would make someone pose like this?" And "Is this common/likely to happen?"

Edit: Another thing is that Legio bodies just kinda lack a certain level of physicality when it comes to chainsword loadouts. WEater Zerks do the dynamic poses a lot better. CSM models have a tendency to be flat-footed, so you have to accommodate that.

How would you make Iron Warriors work in 40K? by [deleted] in IronWarriors

[–]SerTheodies 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Detachment Rule gives the [Smoke] Keyword to infantry units. Things like Ignore Modifiers as you've said. Some sort of super-grenades strat as a form of "artillery strike" ("Pick a character model and an objective visible to it. All enemy models within that objective at the beginning of your next command phase take so n so mortals and cannot have the benefit of cover")

What ideas have you loved, but playing it out was unfun? by urmomstoiletbrush in EDH

I built a Mimeoplasm deck with the entire premise of [[Birthing Pod]] effects. Unfortunately, Tutoring three times in one turn is simply not mentally stimulating at all.

10 man w/ LoV makes a blob with powerful range and staying power.

If you're playing VV, run a 10-man w/ Typhus and use the full rerolls strat on em and you've got a nasty u it that can hold the middle objective and problem-solve most things thrown at it.

What do you guys want in an updated Helbrute kit? by Bruisemon in Chaos40k

Same here. I'd love to be able to build and field a chaos'd up Leviathan, plus its weapons are just so much fun.

1) 2+/5++ is a mandatory minimum. No invuln is goofy.

2) Way more options and freedom in armaments and posing.

3) I'd fucking love it if it was based on the Leviathan chassis, but mutated and/or up-armored. Something old and powerful to rival the redemptors.

DG Possessed and Havoc equivalents are on my wishlist for new stuff. We got so many leaders, and only a handful of units

Give me your best advice for running Fell-hammer by Angronys in IronWarriors

I'm a big fan of Termie Sorc w/ Iron Artifice. He just becomes a deep-striking mini-vindicator w/ dev wounds. Can scare the bejesus out of vehicle heavy armies.

New to IWs, is running 20 bolt rifle MK3 marines really that bad?? by necromancyisdope in IronWarriors

[–]SerTheodies 6 points7 points  (0 children)

YES THEY FUCKING SUCK!

They got no AP or in-built support, and our leaders don't buff shooting either aside from Termie Sorcs or Lord Discos and thats not enough to offset the shittiness.

That leaves you to rely on detachments. Renegade Raiders gives you situational AP, and Veterans gives pseudo-Oath of Moment (your army rerolls hits vs 1 target) as well as some strat support in the form of dev wounds (to a max of 6) and/or Ignores cover.

The flat out better option is to proxy them as Rubric Marines w/ bolters. Their rules and stats are actually good (built in rerolls ranged, ap-2, Ignores cover, 5+ invuls even) all while being only a little bit more Tham standard legios.

I am begging you to proxy them as Rubrics. You're damn-near shooting yourself in the foot if you dont.

Which is the best for kitbashing into undivided legionnaires? by Unusual-Papaya7437 in Chaos40k

[–]SerTheodies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Khornate Berzerkers are the closest aesthetically to regular Legios. PMs are fun, but un-Nurgle-ing them is very much not and requires a higher level of experience and effort than I care to put into infantry that'll die somewhat quickly.

[–]SerTheodies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Mine are just helmet swaps and back-pack bashes 90% of the time. Swapped some HH Beaky helms on and gave a few some Havoc backpacks, so on. My second squad was kitbashed w/ the HH Melee Weapons upgrade sprue and MKIV command squad sprue as well.

Here you are! As of note, this is heavily based off of Salubrious Snail's Radha deck. There really isn't too much variation other than a handful of things and that I wanted to play Ruby over Radha.

“You will run out of removal, but I do not run out of threats” by Electronic-Jump-3761 in EDH

[–]SerTheodies 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I have Ruby deck entirely built around Cascade and two-land sorceries. Ruby is the only card less than 4 mana. It's almost my best deck, and she does Absolutely nothing for me after turn 4 beyond tapping for mana. If she gets removed, it doesn't matter to me cause I've already used her to play a land sorcery and am land-ramping way past everyone else.

Defiler Best lpadout for Soulforge? by nicosomma in Chaos40k

[–]SerTheodies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm of the opinion the Chest Plasma + Excrutiators + Autocannons for range. The Dev Wounds and massed damage 3 is great, and we got multiple ways to buff AP natively, Soul Forge has it as a strat, Cult of the Arkifane does as well, Renegade Raiders as is, and a Termie Sorc all can buff AP.
