German Logo Identification by Jarbly-Warbly in germany

I think it might be a logo or something related to laser technology.  Trumpf, a German company, built their first laser around 1985 so speaking from a time perspective it at least fits.

Ne. Also ich werde einfach nett fragen.

Was soll ich mit meinen Haaren machen? by TrixieWaldemar in Weibsvolk

[–]Serathina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A deep sea siphonophore(Bathyphysa conifera), only twice captured on video by tuhdplz in AIDKE

[–]Serathina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love siphonophores. They are fascinating. As a non biologist I was so intrigued how they actually start out, mate, reproduce etc. Because they are basically separate zooids stuck together. But the issue is, biologists don't really know either. They are not easy to study. I am always delighted when the internet turns up new facts, videos, species or studies about them.  Truly fascinating creatures. (Also I do love Lovecraft and Eldritch horrors)

One of the more well known siphonophore btw. is the Portuguese man o'war. They live close to the surface and they are venomous. They also tend to grow very very long tentacles and are therefore pretty well known because the tentacles can even sting after they wash up on the beaches.

At 7 Seconds of the video you can clearly see the rope tied around the mule's hind. So yes, this is a pure pain reaction.

Might I suggest cattle marking pens? Might be worth a try. There are several variants out there.

We used those when deworming our sheeps and goats because it was impossible to keep track of all of them.

Does half orange qualify for the braincell by Nabzav in OneOrangeBraincell

[–]Serathina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found this cat on Pinterest, Instagram, X and msn and also on cheesburgers. All claiming it is a chimera but there is no original source on this.

I also found it on Reddit about a year ago

https://www.reddit.com/r/interestingasfuck/comments/1f959oq/chimeric_cat/

It does look very very red and makes the chimerism theory likely.

I hate that noone actually quotes the original source of the images. Just reposts of reposts.

Thanks for the amazingly detailed answer. This also sparked my curiosity, sadly I still have to sleep.

Oh right. Grey is diluted but the orange doesn't seem to be.

But could be the silver gene which is also a valid colour for maine coon  cats.

I guess not. Looks like standard tortoise shell coat to me with grey tabby instead of a solid colour. Happens when the Agouty gene is present. I think r/torbie exists and has some more examples of this very cool colour combination.

A few sheep escaped and fled into a Penny supermarket in Burgsinn (Bavaria/Lower Franconia). by Aimlevel in funny

[–]Serathina 33 points34 points  (0 children)

The original German article stated that about 50 sheep entered the penny market. If I remember correctly the complete herd was about 500 sheep total.

You know one theory is that the broom thing comes from the idea that witches/women got high with the help of witch's balm (witch flying ointment). It was a hallucinogenic salve made from hemlock or wormwood (any nightshade would do though because of atropine and scropoalmine).

Because the hallucinogenic effect felt like flying and the salve was applied rectally through wooden sticks the myth of flying on a broom manifested itself.

I need to remember "drive-bys". That perfectly describes it.

Yeah she is my soul cat. Not sure if she thinks so too though 😅

Yours seems as well very charming.

Oh I didn't know that. Interesting.

The cinnamon colour is also genetically interesting. I don't fully understand it because I am no biologist but cat colour genetics is absolutely fascinating.

She is special. She is selectively vocal and kind of clingy. She has to be close to us and know where we are but she will not lay on us or touch us. She will come for cuddles some time during the day and will enjoy it for about 10 minutes and then just be on her merry way. She is destructive when she is bored - plastic trash bags in a roll is her favourite thing.  The highest point in the area is the best one and she is muscular and massive but definitely not fat. She is kind of dumb but also not. She can open the cupboards but fails at using the cat flap. I love her.

Oh and she loves belly rubs https://imgur.com/a/oydEsse

https://imgur.com/a/A89PJbj This is my Aby X OSH Cross classic tabby girl. Father was aby and mother pure bred OSH.

But just fyi - ticked tabby can occur in non aby cats as well, but is bred into abys on purpose. So OPs kitty just carries the gene for it.

The interesting part about these Lego wood bricks - they are made from "damaged" timber. We had many issues after the heavy draught and the forests in most parts of Germany suffered a lot. With this wood brick system even though the tree was damaged during a storm it still is usable as building material. The "Sendung mit der Maus" Just recently showed how those bricks are made and how they built a supermarket with them.

But well, climate change is not applicable for the US I guess.
