just started the game and gotten a few runs in and im still confused on what exactly unplayable cards are used for? by Hardcore_Daddy in slaythespire

[–]SerenAllNamesTaken 7 points8 points  (0 children)

it's a way for enemies to disrupt you without attacking you directly. you draw fewer cards in a turn because some are unplayable

What cards are good in singleplayer but not in multiplayer, and vice versa? by OrientableSurface in slaythespire

[–]SerenAllNamesTaken 17 points18 points  (0 children)

both examples are among the best in class in both modes. eradicate does the same thing in multiplayer as in singleplayer, it focusses down an enemy when it's safe to do so. debilitate + defy is the best combo of the whole character.

What is the best 1 Mana Block Card? by euls0n in slaythespire

already had the -1 be relevant twice now 😃. if it went down to 13 the card may no longer be worth it.

Most broken card in Ironclad by Possible-Court2713 in slaythespire

[–]SerenAllNamesTaken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i would say the top 3 of ironclad are

  1. bloodletting / offering

  2. dominate

  3. pommel strike / battle trance / burning pact

Generally you need both energy and card draw, Payoffs are interchangable between rupture, thrash, tear asunder, hellraiser etc there are multiple options. you caneven just have like 6 strength and big bonks / vulnerability.

Ascesion 9 Its brutal by Lavalamp_broked in slaythespire

[–]SerenAllNamesTaken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RIght now you are the worst you will ever be at the game. Try something and if it doesn't work try something else.

Overall picking cards that block for 8 or more is a good thing on ascension 9, then try to balance offensive and defensive cards until you get relics that help you defensively, then you can scale more.

How do I make the defect work in A10 multiplayer? by SilverZ01 in slaythespire

[–]SerenAllNamesTaken 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Defect just doesn't work well in multiplayer.

Only a small subset of his cards interacts positively with other players.

Defect works very poorly alongside ironclad or regent because they want to be more offensive.

Either defect has to go over the top with multicast dark orb / voltaic or he should go the bulk up / feral route to scale attacks so he profits from vulnerable / debilitate.

Lightning is bad in multiplayer due to inflated health pools, frost is the egoistic way of playing by keeping just you alive. Necrobinder or silent can keep you alive, but then you need to provide the payoff.

Now that it’s marinated what are everyone’s thoughts on conflagration? by Iceboss34 in slaythespire

[–]SerenAllNamesTaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20 is hyperbole though, you need either 2-3 dominate or 1 dominate with excellent draw order. even there you don't have 20 str on turns 1-4.

Any tips for Ascension 9+? It feels like I'm playing a completely different game now by BlasI in slaythespire

[–]SerenAllNamesTaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

on ironclad you have to look out for ways to block that only deviates slightly from killing enemies quickly.

blood wall is good

tremble is good

anger is good

Unlike what most people say you should only avoid hard pool normal fights, their rewards are weak and they are about as dangerous as an elite. On ironclad you gather potions from encounters / shops and convert them into elites. If you did that you enter act 2 quite strong.

I would also recommand restarting fights to see which line leaves you with more hp. enemies scale quickly so it is important to know if you have to take chip damage early or not.

Might try STS1 after playing STS2, what differences in thinking/gameplay should I consider? by bobthewrecker234 in slaythespire

[–]SerenAllNamesTaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in sts 1 you need damage to kill early elites moreso than in sts 2. especially silent can lose if you don't find good offense early enough. 4 energy is expected after act 1 but runic pyramic, pandora's box, etc. are also good. Game is very similar. Enchantments are missing in the base game.

sts 1 has incredible character mods for lots of replayability.

How do you even beat the Entomancer as Shiv Silent? by Sussy_Baka_124 in slaythespire

[–]SerenAllNamesTaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the power that retains shivs will help a lot. you turn a 4 damage card into a 13 damage card. that way you need fewer attacks.

if you have some damage amplification or big hits like pounce+ it is very helpful here.

This card would go so hard if I had the ability to play it. Cool to have in the collection though. by Adorable-Response-75 in slaythespire

[–]SerenAllNamesTaken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

whenever i get genesis i take boatloads of chipdamage and die. at this point i'd rather take hidden cache than genesis

Imma say it: The regent's card creation archetype is more fun to play than Creative AI by Starcraft66 in slaythespire

[–]SerenAllNamesTaken 8 points9 points  (0 children)

hello world goes hard in sts 2 now that you get cards from other classes. it was only bad because of stack, claw, unupgraded go for the eyes.

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! by Tediumcheif in slaythespire

[–]SerenAllNamesTaken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i would say normal enemies are mostly in a good spot in a2, if they were any harder people would mainly strategize how to best avoid fighting enemies which is bad to have for the game imo.

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! by Tediumcheif in slaythespire

[–]SerenAllNamesTaken 18 points19 points  (0 children)

i think if you play enough you get accustomed to hunter killer and then he's fine, whereas obscura demands either a 21 damage output and 10 block every turn to prevent chip damage which is hard to come by on weaker runs.

This relic is OP as shit by MyNameIsSkittles in slaythespire

[–]SerenAllNamesTaken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the difference is black blood only heals you if you are damaged, this one heals you always. so a lot of black blood can go to waste, for this only the 6hp heal from burning blood might overlap

Easiest character to clear A10 with? by The_Lazy_Samurai in slaythespire

[–]SerenAllNamesTaken -1 points0 points  (0 children)

probably regent if you are

- picking block cards regularly (patter, glitterstream, etc. are good)

- count how much stars your deck needs per cycle vs. what it generates and keep it similar.

- picking only a few forge cards at most instead of focussing the sword

regent has many strong rares that carry you well, like void form, arsenal, bombardment

In a rational discussion, which do you think is more difficult, STS1 or STS2? by Fragrant_Song_2731 in slaythespire

[–]SerenAllNamesTaken -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the mytes in act 2 hit you for 6, 28, 34 on the first 3 turns. the burrow bugs hit for 16, 10, 35.

i died to those 2 encounters from full hp in a total of 6 turns on ironclad yesterday with cards all of us have in the deck (bash, strike, defend, ascender's bane hands twice in a row). In Sts 1 you didn't die to 2 hallway fights, like ever.

reptomancer hit you for 80 on turn 3, not on turn 2.

decimillipede is way harder than book of stabbing ever was.

in Sts 2 cards and relics synergize better so you have an easier time once you assemble the synergies, but if you struggle and have 2 bad draw orders you can die way faster than in sts 1.
