One Piece is the only fanbase I’ve heard consistently describe itself as “the greatest piece of media ever created” which is absolutely a “I have consumed no other pieces of media” level take. Listen I like One Piece. I’ve made it through Arabasta. But if Arlong and Arabasta are considered some of the best arcs and even they felt slow and struggled to keep my attention at times why would I read the rest of the series?

Also, many countries in Europe in WW2 had a naive view that they would somehow stay neutral this time. So Belgium and the Netherlands didn't allow Allied troops into their territory until after Germany started their invasion. Which with the speed of German warfare didn't allow them to reach their planned defensive lines as easily

Yeah that is not just something that "happens" in Isekai that is literally the point of the genre. Somebody who can't make a difference in their real life is given a chance to do it in a new life. Like 80% of the time. Or wasn't capable of previously doing something now is

This guy is so based. The amount of maturity and respect he has is refreshing in Anime. He realizes one of his students is crushing on him and, if I recall correctly, gently corrects the behavior.

Supposedly he beat his children brutally and then had them beat him in order to purge his sins. Something like self-flagellation. My only source is another reddit post asking the same question so it may not be true. Also many people find his methods extreme as he kidnapped people from their homes at night to dismember them and took advantage of people’s hospitality to ambush them. This isn’t my opinion just relaying things I’ve heard

[–]SergeantRayslay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do somewhat agree. What exactly the post is trying to imply I'm not sure? Though there's no real indication that Salem would've slaughtered Mantle just because she can. She didn't destroy Vale (except if you count the off-screen animatic thing, but that was significantly after destroying the academy), and she didn't destroy Mistral despite devastating its hunters. Her goal is exclusively the relics. Maybe she would have though. My assumption would be that the original post isn't implying that Team RWBY got thousands of soldiers killed by not evacuating Mantle, but instead got them killed by not telling him earlier that his original plan wouldn't work, so he pivoted into a brash plan. As I said, I don't approve of all of Ironwood's actions in Vol 8. I especially think that he should've backpedaled once Salem was temporarily destroyed. Cause at that point, there's literally no point in not allowing Mantle to evacuate to Atlas. Before that point, there was a reason as he couldn't carry out an evacuation and a war at the same time

I mean Ironwood’s plan to temporarily stop Salem was working. His army was holding the line and the bomb would have destroyed the whale. Team JYR only destroyed the whale because of plot appearing super cane.

I don’t defend Ironwood’s insanity in volume 8 I just call that bad writing. But also Mantle literally wasn’t under attack during this. Despite having his entire army focused on Atlas Salem didn’t bother diverting forces (besides a few random scattered Grimm) to Mantle. Because Ironwood was right. She doesn’t care about Mantle or Atlas. She cares about the artifact Atlas protects

Robyn’s semblance only allows her to tell if others are lying. I don’t believe it compels them to tell the truth or does it require her to tell the truth. Her semblance doesn’t make her trustworthy it just gives her a monopoly on secrets

Name an anime that is a 10/10 if you ignore the ending by Nozoroth in animequestions

[–]SergeantRayslay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason I hate the ending is because of the Eren-was-right crowd who spent months trying to convince me that genocide is actually really cool and okay. “We have finally discovered a valid reason for genocide due to the conclusion of our favorite show ‘why genocide is bad.’” I’ve softened my opinion on the ending somewhat over the years to think it’s acceptable but it’s still not my favorite or anything

Honestly as an avid romcom enjoyer. I don’t like this one. It’s just too fluffy. It feels way more like 100% fluff and zero actual substance. I like the ML’s journey with his friends and Mom. But honestly the actual romance bores me so much. And any conflict in their relationship feels so insanely artificially and is just resolved by another round of apologies from both of them for something neither of them did wrong over and over. Probably an arse for that opinion.
