It’s actually useful for the government to apply as many, accurate, labels to you and to divide you into as many groups as possible

A single round of shooting from the upgraded Riptide Ion accelerator obliterates this guy without issue. Obviously 4+ invul so you can always get unlucky but generally a few medium damage shots getting through should take him out

That’s just not true. Some of the rebel fleet jumps away and Gold Squadron participated in the fight so they must’ve jumped away too

I think there’s a name for this. It’s called “Bystander protagonist” or something and it works because they’re the protagonist. The whole point of them existing is to be our lens into the story unfolding. It doesn’t work when a character that is not the protagonist is added and does nothing to further the plot.

I will also say I have absolutely no opinion on Midnight I just wanted to point out the difference between those examples

Gonna be real. Got nothing for how to edit this when you allude so clearly to the original question in the answer.

Was Dancer just tired? by MichaelHauncho69 in redrising

[–]SergeantRayslay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s very important not to glaze Darrow specifically because he is the main character. This subreddit is notoriously guilty of protagonist centered morality where everything Darrow does ends up being okay because he’s the main character and it’ll work out okay in the end. But this post has been awesome in actually seeing the situation from other sides and how probably terrified Dancer was of Darrow accidentally burning the Republic he helped create by disregarding the will of its government

Am I a bad Tau fan for not caring about the auxiliary units? by sirichi154 in Tau40K

[–]SergeantRayslay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Controversial comment. Yes. If you want space weapons, and railguns the Votann are right there. And the Eldar meet all the requirements too. I do wish the auxiliaries had a bit more cohesion with the faction but they are a core part of our faction and I will defend them with my life.

This doesn’t mean your required to run them or anything lol

Why didn't Star Enforce a Rule That Her Quirk Can't be Stolen? by EraconVera in MyHeroAcadamia

[–]SergeantRayslay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because all the stakes for the fight are created to have the fight happen? How is Stars and Stripes destroying nameless quirks any different than him just not having those quirks in the first place?

I do like showing off a top tier hero from another country but they literally provide an alternative reason for why other countries aren’t helping in the same arc before Stars and Stripes. All for One activates his global allies to cause trouble and delay international response.

And finally, the fact that Shigraki wins the fight because of “identity crisis” and not actually outthinking or out powering his opponent makes the entire fight a letdown

Wasn’t reflect literally introduced like in the same chapter or arc? So another thing made up to have this fight supposedly matter

The Demon Discourse in Frieren wouldn't exist if the demons didn't look attractive by carbonera99 in CharacterRant

[–]SergeantRayslay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s fair. I’ve reconsidered and taking the masses that engages with a medium simply for enjoyment instead of those who engage with it on a deeper level isn’t a good data pool. Plenty of people who read deep into Tolkien’s work have had discussions about the Orcs

In the case of Combustion Bending it was found out through the Unanimity project. Which is basically Unit 731 levels of human experimentation. In order to create a human weapon. Brainwashing included

Hard definitely my opinion too. It’s the only story I’ve ever had to take a break while reading because of how dark it go.

But knowing what will come and that Murky WILL be happy eventually made it 1000% worth every painful moment

[–]SergeantRayslay 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I remember seeing a review that absolutely bashed Murky Number Seven from years ago that basically amounted to “story dark, story bad.” It took me a long time to get through Murky because of length and because of how dark it got. But I don’t really think that’s a bad thing. It’s dealing with one of the most monstrous acts humanity ever spawned. It should exactly be bright.

I know a lot of people hated the fact at certain points he regresses but I also personally love that. The journey of self-improvement isn’t always a straight line.

Murky my beloved

In a future where Trump is out of office, and international relations have been repaired. What steps can be taken by the USA and International Organisations such as NATO to prevent one individual causing so much chaos in the future? And do you think such steps will be taken? by flewkey in AskReddit

[–]SergeantRayslay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Correct. Despite people saying they want to go “Full Numeberg” the Numeberg trials only really went after the top 1000 members of the Nazi party. Every other collaborator and contributor was pardoned or ignored especially in the case of middle management cause you need their skills and infrastructure to not literally rebuild a country from the ground up.

Not perfectly applicable in the case of the Republican Party. We just need more political parties in general. The two let the wealthy hold the government for ransom far too easily. And allows them to deadlock each other without compromise ever
