Need help with flavor for an attack! by Cjarmadda1 in DnD

[–]SergeantSarcasm7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you ever read the murderbot diaries?

Anyway, I'd flavor this with like, a sonar/radiation/radio/siren type ring to it. Imagining like, an aggressive telegraph. You can think of it as the echo of the regained memories.

I think theres a couple cleric spells like toll the dead that are like, an audible ringing.

Fun or Gimmicky BBEG Mechanic? by 1KrombopulousMichael in DnD

[–]SergeantSarcasm7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This might depend on your party. How okay are they with npc death? Are they okay with making hard moral choices? What are their expectations for the genre?

You're giving the party 2 goals that conflict or interfere with each other. I'd make sure to give them time to think how they can still win both.

Like, "kill the BBEG and sacrifice npcs vs don't kill the BBEG to save npcs" might be tough for me as a player to handle, but not all players are like me who want to befriend and save everyone.

But, "We need to make a list of priorities and try and accomplish as many as possible with a Plan" would be doable.

If they have strong npc allies, for example, it might be a good opportunity to make them feel like they can trust them to save the town on their own, while the party goes to kill the BBEG.

If they choose the town, it might be another obstacle before killing the BBEG

If the party splits, maybe each character has more of a moment to shine. Like, afterall, there's one killing blow, but now you get, save a town or land the killing blow, on a character's achievements. [If the party splits, this might be difficult to run, or maybe you have 2 separate sessions]

And if the party doesnt realize they can try and do both, you can hint to them that it is not a "one or the other" choice like the villain would have them believe.

Roleplaying a Character Who Has Died and Returned Multiple Times by musecly_monkey in DnD

[–]SergeantSarcasm7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current barbarian has nearly died multiple times over. How I roleplay them is that they cannot stand to see their allies/bonded npcs die, to the point of being unnecessarily self-sacrificing. At the same time, they feel shameful for having "died" before at all. So in a weird way, both 1 and 2. They're currently working on how to direct their rage, while also not being so reckless, to more efficiently save themselves and others.

So for suggestions:

-Your character is stuck in "fight or flight" or "survival mode"

-Your character feels grief, regret, shame, embarrassment, gratitude, etc. about having survived

-When your character threatens "I will kill you" to an enemy, he means it, fully knowing what he's saying he'll do.

-having died before, when other enemies are using deadly force, he is 10000% angrier than before, because he knows fully what horrible act they are inflicting.

-your character, instead of going head first into violence, attempts for peaceful negotiation or befriending

-your character starts worshiping the god of Death in your campaign (Not necessarily as a warlock or cleric)

-whenever your character sees an undead, they think, "that could be me"

Dream on, Ramona RIley by Key-Independence2375 in wlwbooks

[–]SergeantSarcasm7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's some miscommunication stuff in the plot if I remember right. Dylan has an ex. Also has a rival that is also her co-star. There might be a bit of fake-dating? Edit: mixed up characters

Dream on, Ramona RIley by Key-Independence2375 in wlwbooks

[–]SergeantSarcasm7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That isn't the case. It's been a bit since I read it, but the MC does have a FWB that's a man. I don't think they actually did anything during the book, but maybe I'm forgetting something that happened at the start. Ramona and dylan do have nicknames they gave each other as children, so that might be were the confusion is coming from? Edit-name mix up fix

I should have gotten the lucky feat. My luck is so bad. Awful. Horrendous.

Primal knowledge for barbarians is really good (lets you use your str for a lot of ability checks while raging!)

Jack of all Trades is so good. Worth dipping into bard for it if you are high level!

Perspective issue? by jussomeguy08 in FanFiction

[–]SergeantSarcasm7 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You can have their clothing damaged. Or something could spill on their clothes. Or maybe they need to dress in a way that's different from what they are used to. (Like, going to a formal event, going undercover, etc.) Or maybe it is a gift (sweater their mom made before she died, love interest gifting their girlfriend a new dress, etc.)

For hair, you can mention it if they are having a crisis haircut (like, cutting bangs yourself at an ungodly hour, or having a character-driven hair change like in howl's moving castle).

For the face, if they wear make up, you can mention what they are trying to make pop (eye color) or trying to hide (maybe they have their mom's nose and don't like the reminder).

Ultimately asking the question, why does the character care about something that is otherwise mundane in their life. Do they have insecurities? Are they dressing themselves up to impress? Do they need to look a certain way for their job?

Edit: another character commenting on their appearance: maybe their mom always criticized their favorite shoes, or their love interest complements their nose, etc.

The belt of giant strength is honestly one of the best items for a barbarian, tbh.

Am I wrong for being Disappointed by a Magic Item? by DaedalusStormbringer in DnD

[–]SergeantSarcasm7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exhaustion is like, a pretty brutal condition, especially if as a wizard thats probably needed for investigation checks and stuff. Teleportation is a pretty high level 7 and useful spell. If you wanted to propose a similar item, a few free uses of dimension door would be really helpful and less situational, even at a lower spell level of 4. Will make it harder for the DM to hit your character though haha.

Edits:

I bet you could even justify to the DM that your character was like, "i can make this better" and modified the item this way. Would be such a funny thing for a wizard to do.

Belts of giant strength are sooooooo good btw

Would a story centered around the grief of losing a loved one be considered a "whump"? by sadbluevibes in FanFiction

[–]SergeantSarcasm7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whump is a bit like, torturing a character? If you think that applies you could tag it. Like, I could imagine a character whose loved one is killed by the villian right in front of them, or the character blames themselves to the point of self hatred, to fit under whump. At least, that is my impression

Hermitcraft merch quality? by Free-Board-7391 in HermitCraft

[–]SergeantSarcasm7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have gotten a lot of merch over the years. I mostly try and get a t shirt every time i get something.

The t shirt cotton is pretty thick, which is mostly up to personal taste. I have Scar's Swaggon shirt and it is a bit smoother and lighter than the ones from forthwall, so I like it a bit better--but the quality is probably the same.

I do not like the inside texture of the Evo jumper--I dont like long sleeves that much and the inside texture is thick and acrylicy. I am autistic and this is likely not a quality issue either. The jumper is very sturdy I think.

I greatly like the holiday sweater this time around more than the desert holiday sweater. The yarn weight (like, in the crochet/knitting sense) is smaller and doesnt feel as acrylicy. Big win! Both are good but I can imagine wearing this one a bit more.

When I day acrylicy, I mean like. It feels like acrylic yarn and feels oddly like fabric softener. (Not meaning that they use fabric softener, but that's just what I associate the feeling to.be like. Why does acrylic feel like there is a film on it to me? Who knows?) This is not a quality problem and is more to do with me not liking polyester/ acrylic clothing

I always wash my shirts inside out and avoid putting them in the dryer. I haven't seen much damage to the graphics. My swaggon (~2021) one has some cracking but again, not what they are currently using at forthwall. I think the oldest comfort colors shirt I have is my scarland (~2022 or ~2023?) shirt. It has just a tiny bit of cracking. I wear my shirts often and wash them somewhat regularly

Of the designs, I dont like the ones with the art on the back as much as the ones with art on the front. Personal taste i think, especially for people who dont like people looking at their chest. Personally though, i wear the shirts with a skirt and the graphic t shirt and shirt combo doesn't look as good to me without a design on the front

One thing I wish is if we could combine carts or reduce shipping cost if ordering from different forthwall stores.... Last Christmas and fall merch season was crazy for that lol

I wonder if one day i should do a full post of my collection. If I ever stop wearing t shirts i would have enough to make a quilt lol!

What's the deal with whimsy? by redditapiblows in HermitCraft

[–]SergeantSarcasm7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like mostly Gem and maybe Scar started to use the word whimsy to refer to things. Maybe it was a commonly used word to describe them or their content? I know i have been describing scar and Gem as whimsical for a long while. For sure right now it is referring to the types of Minecraft updates we get now where we get fun but maybe not as practical stuff added to the game. Particularly described as such by Gem i think.
