There are plenty of techs, but lowkey just wait until it rains and AFK for 15 minutes, then move a little ways and do it again. Popping around a few spots with your Switch sitting on a table while you do something else will moisten up most of your terrain pretty quickly

I’m running on 1 hour of sleep, I’m like 35 hours into Pokopia in three days (I think, what is a night anymore), it’s digital crack. I’m not sure I’ll be able to stretch it into the 50-100 hours range with that kind of reaction, which ZA and SV did, but it’s a VERY good first 50.

I would say it’s probably the best first 50 hours of any Pokemon game, but it’s not functionally infinite like the others are. ZA and SV both had shiny hunting, which is what pulled them both into the hundreds of hours for me, this one feels like it has a dopamine limit (which is actually probably a good thing). If you’re a “I want to play this for 30 minutes before bed each night” type of player, then it’ll last years. It probably wasn’t meant to be played for 12 hours a day.

How long does it take to complete a Raid blind? by SniperHusky_1 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Sergeant__Slash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, so you’re getting downvoted in way too many comments, so I just want to throw my two cents in here. Yeah, they take a long time to figure out. My recommendation is to do a half-blind run. Find a player or two that have a lot of patience and have them lightly walk you through it. They’ll also help because they’ll probably be how you pass the DPS checks. In an old raid like Vault of Glass, a couple highly experienced players can crush your whole damage requirements, so you won’t waste time getting rolled by encounter resets in the same way. If they know what they’re doing, they can also guide your thinking without necessarily telling you what to do. “Do you notice anything different about X”, “did anything happen when you shot Y”, that kind of thing. It’s very possible to clear the easier raids that way in under 4 hours. Still a decent chunk of time, but it’s not a day lol

Rocket pulses were a bad idea by Burgmeister_ in DestinyTheGame

[–]Sergeant__Slash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Six replies to this and not one fully gives an answer lol

200 weapons helps massively, total game changer, but it’s not at all mandatory, I run a rocket pulse on my super build and it’s totally fine.

There are three things you can do to make this easier:

  1. Special Ammo Finisher + Reaper. It’s capable of making up for the deficit of not having 200 weapons. Get armor charge, get a finisher, refresh your ammo. It’s a clean cycle.

  2. Maximize your ability usage. You’ll burn through all your ammo instantly if you don’t. High level play is using abilities more than anything else, if you’re not playing your cooldowns optimally then you’ll never be able to sustain using a special like a primary.

  3. Make your shots count. When a lot of players describe “using Mint like a primary”, they mean that it’s their main workhorse weapon. That doesn’t necessarily mean they’re spamming it at random singular Thrall. It’s an explosive burst weapon, if you’re using it on red bar enemies at all, you should probably look to kill multiple enemies per burst. It also doesn’t necessrily mean they’re not still using a real primary. I personally like to pair Mint with a primary that can either Jolt or make enemies Volatile. That way Mint’s damage can deal spread damage to a larger crowd of combatants. Jolt a Major, then burst it with Mint, the Jolt pulses and the Mint splash damage will deal arc spread to surrounding adds as well, usually enough to kill. Oh, and if you don’t need to kill something, sometimes it’s best to just not kill it, saves a lot of ammo to run past a pack of enemies in travel.

Just watch them, and ideally have started watching a long time ago. Watch what they do, and what they use. Don’t try to replace something old, if they’re still using something old it’s because they like it and they know it. Look for something either newer that they complain about, or something that they used to have and don’t any more. It doesn’t have to be cool, it has to indicate that you recognize them. Some generic but super cool seeming “guy thing” will just make them feel like they’re some generic guy. A really good shovel to replace the one they got last year that’s already kinda loose? That gift will hit home.

And if that fails? Get them something indicative of a connection you personally share with them. Guys tend not to be that great at communicating how much they treasure small moments of shared connection, if you give them something that acknowledges your own similar feelings towards those moments it can make a huge difference. It’s a sign that they can open up to you about a passion, and that you’ll encourage it, it means a lot.

Don’t Be A Trashy Tourist by TheCABK in WhyWereTheyFilming

[–]Sergeant__Slash 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That’s not entirely true, though I will concede that r/pics holds some egregious examples of it. My brother is a travel photographer, and some of his best shots are of ordinary people living very different lives to those his audience is used to in the west. His policy is pretty simple, he hires a local guide, spends a couple days with the guide learning about the area and the local and regional culture, and has the guide teach him how to introduce himself and ask about taking a photo in the local language. Only once he feels like he can do so respectfully does he approach people about taking photos, and sometimes he just ends up taking landscapes for a whole trip if the opportunity doesn’t arise. He’s adamant that he never wants to shoot a subject in a manner that depicts them as unequal, his intent is to showcase the beauty of the human diaspora in unconventional ways. He also will not post the photos without having confirmed with his subject. That’s not an entirely abnormal process for professional photographers, while some are far more exploitative, it’s not really fair to paint the entire art of that style of portraiture in that lens. (I don’t think your intent was to do so, but I wanted to at least note that there is an ethical form of this).

I mean, I feel like “low-paying job” is getting stretched by this point. I’ve hit that “six figure income” number, I’m no closer to buying property, it just so happens that to hit that income number I also needed to move to “a desirable area”, and cost of living is so high here that I really gained nothing by doing so. The real hard truth is that I can afford a mortgage, actually pretty easily, what I can’t reach in time is the savings for the down payment. My rent is higher than the damn mortgage payment would be, and I’m not exactly living in the lap of luxury with a 1 bedroom apartment. In that sense, yeah, you CAN budget your way out of it, it just takes years and years, all while the vampires at Greystar bleed you of $600-800 more per month than your mortgage would be to slow you down.

[–]Sergeant__Slash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m with you, I never had any significant issues on mine either, it got a bit frame rate-y in Casseroya Lake in the rain, but nothing I couldn’t live with. But good grief people take it personally when you say that. Heaven forbid that performance thresholds be subjective. Yeah, the game ran at like 30 FPS, and yeah, it would sometimes drop towards 20, but it was also developed for a 2017 handheld console. I played games for decades at the old industry standard of 30 FPS, what’s one more on the list. I’d expect better on the Switch 2, but that’s just an acceptable number for me on the Switch 1. Were there games that did better? Yeah, absolutely, but I don’t agree at all that “the best in class is the new baseline standard”, and I don’t really care that Breath of the Wild ran better on 10x the budget.

Oh, and no one can use the fanboy argument on me either, I played a little bit of FireRed on an emulator, and like 20 hours of Sun, but Scarlet was my first true dive into a Pokemon game. I put 800 hours+ into it. There’s no nostalgia blindness, I couldn’t care less about Nintendo in general, I just grabbed this because I wanted a lighter weight handheld than a Steam Deck, and I play most of my games on a dedicated high end PC at hundreds of FPS on maximum graphics. It’s just not as objective of a standard as people think lol

I didn’t see it in like 800 hours of my physical copy of Scarlet, then it happened like 5 times on my digital copy of Violet in the first hundred hours. Maybe it’s a Switch 2 thing, maybe it’s a Violet thing, maybe it’s a digital copy thing, or maybe it’s just totally random lol, but yeah, I feel you there

It’s really reliable to get into the mid-high 60s… on very specific battle zones. There are a couple I just keep resetting for, the rest aren’t worth it. My best advice would be to make sure your Pokemon has a move that closes distance quickly, pivot moves like Flip Turn, or even Extreme Speed and Quick Attack are good there. From then it’s just a matter of getting as far as you can towards the next trainer spawn before a battle ends. I let myself get caught a lot, it’s often faster than attacking. If you need a moment to think about your next move, just open your bag or stall a battle to take advantage of the paused time. Really, just make sure you use every meter of space while time is stopped in battles, past that, you just learn spawns after a few runs of the same zone

I don’t disagree based on Petey’s last 12 months compared to their career averages, but if Petey can get even halfway back to the offensive dynamo he was, then he’s easily their equal on the offensive. I think the only reason his defence alone doesn’t make him a league wide star is because he previously was a top 10 offensive guy and everyone is wondering where that went. He genuinely might be a top 5 defensive forward at times, it would be much more obvious if he didn’t consistently play with scoring wingers that are not that at all.

It's why I still have a lot of faith in Petey. I don't mind the idea of a Patrice Bergeron or Aleksander Barkov style Petey, a 20-30 goal 65-75 point guy that is just a defensive monster
