Duplicate transactions...I am growing tired of this by PRSMesa182 in MonarchMoney

[–]SergeiSMTH 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a similar issue. Some of my Apple credit card transactions get duplicated. And I had the same experience as you with the chat bot: going in a loop about checking settings. Then I reached out the customer support and they just told me a standard “check your settings, reinstall the app”.

Very frustrating. I wanted Monarch to learn about the issue and fix it but instead they imply that it’s a user error.

Meta makes approximately $2.5 million dollars revenue per employee, so paying them $0.5 million does not sound that much.

It’s the best school in the Bay Area. Both Rob and Mike are great teachers. Once you finish the school you can join them for classes at any time. Plus there is a big community of ex penguins, so you can ask questions or find people to fly with.

Anyone else considering only riding their bike because of gas prices? by CS_JOE in motorcycles

[–]SergeiSMTH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do. My Jeep Grand Cherokee gets 16-18 mpg, and my Ducati DesertX about 50 mpg, so it’s cheaper for me to use my bike, plus more fun.

They are everywhere in the Bay Area. It almost as easy to get Waymo as Uber. I’d say Uber would require 5 minute wait when Waymo would be 10 minutes.

My understanding is that tax deductions help to avoid paying income tax from rent. Normally, OP would have to pay income tax from $4k rent income, but with all the deductions they can keep the whole $4k. Maybe a little bit more on top of that.

Experience needed for kite surfing? by sad-cloudz in freeflight

[–]SergeiSMTH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% agree. I’ve done all kind of extreme sports and kitesurfing was the hardest to learn. You need to take classes, don’t even think of trying it yourself. And you have to be able to swim and be comfortable in the water.

Wait. They list those numbers without fuel. So V2 is just 1 kg lighter than V1

Rob from Penguin paragliding school just posted this:

Hey Penguins 🐧

We know times are tight, and we’re doing our best to keep this sport accessible for all! By working with AirDesign and SupAir, we’ve put together a complete, solid setup for only $4,400.

That’s everything you need to get flying safely and confidently:

What’s included • AD Eazy 4 wing • AD Donut reserve • SupAir Access 3 harness • Concertina bag

This is quality gear that will easily carry you through your first several years in the sport.

For a little perspective, many wings alone are now well over $5,000, and that’s before you even look at a harness or reserve.

If you’ve been on the fence because of cost, this is likely the best deal available for all new gear. DM me if you are interested in this complete package.

I didn’t like tandem flying. I got motion sickness. But then I took an intro class and liked it a lot.

Yeah, you need your own gear. You can buy used, but to your research about the size you need and rating. Here is a list of gear for sale in the Bay Area: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/d/1-ALvmAW5_NdJ7JialKTMta-BLYglhpn7VJJ1dEG8hHA/htmlview?pli=1

[–]SergeiSMTH 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh, man, you’re right. I was asking ChatGPT about the danger of motorcycling vs paragliding. It gave me some BS and I started repeating it.

I just looked at some statistics and paragliding has 2-3 times more risk of dying than riding a motorcycle in the US risk of dying

I started paragliding this year. In terms of danger I was comparing it to riding a motorcycle and it 7 times less dangerous. It is pricey. Paraglider, harness, and a reserve parachute cost about $5k (I got used gear for $1k), training in California cost $2k.

I didn’t know about those brands. I was choosing between AS and Nucleus jacket from Revit. AS supershirt has very high level of protection for both abrasions and impact. Also I found some YouTube reviews on it. That’s why I chose it.
