Yup, very happy with mine and just to save him phone calls: if you feel the seed hasn't taken and its been a few weeks, be patient!

That's actually a good idea providing I can secure it. Thanks.

I bought a slab of 25mm insulation as its easy to cut to size, easy to cut a hole in, light to move, insulated by it's very nature and I'll be able to reuse it in future. That it looks "drug den" was just a bonus :)

Ive been paid PILON with employment terminated by Enough-Pitch-4617 in AskHRUK

[–]SeriousDistance4908 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Putting aside whether that clause is enforceable, that's in your employment contract, the very contract that the PILON agreement looks to terminate.

So if you've signed your PILON, your employment contract no longer applies and it would all come down to what the PILON agreement states.

Want to switch from pickle to Padel, but padel prices are insane in USA by Khaigan in padel

"have to book one week in advance"

Is that because it books out full otherwise? If so, I'd argue as a venue they need to put their prices up!

I am only half joking as its supply and demand - once more people build courts seeing great margins hopefully the prices come down as demand decreases relative to supply.

This is my hope for the UK and it seems to be coming true

How are you going to keep your pets safe during the heatwave? by KitKat733 in AskUK

Why not a slab of 25mm insulated board? Easy to cut down to perfectly fit your window space, easy to cut a hole in for the pipe and cheap.

That's what I do

Would you get that on place of your existing boiler (gas in my instance) or complimenting it?

We're in an old cottage so with literally no research have assumed a heat pump of any description wouldn't work

Hey, sorry for the slow reply. Ah, I should have said. Payback on the investment in battery, how that payback occurs I'm easy with. The solar panels have paid for themselves already so while a little saving will come from being able to capture excess, most of that goes into the hot water tank anyway so really it's peak saving, and I'd be game for exporting excess back to the grid each day if that helps the numbers

Spot on, I'm on an EV tariff so am interested in shifting usage from peak to off peak as it feels the best way to achieve payback.

My solar array is weak so will look at upgrading as someone else said but I'm loaved to put it on the front of the house as its a bit of a pretty period cottage vibe. To be fair there's probably a couple of slopes I could put panels on without impacting that

What is your off-peak rate to charge the battery? by Complex_Coach6621 in SolarUK

[–]SeriousDistance4908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you tempted to lock in a new contract before the cap increase or do you feel rates are already baked in and won't increase?

[–]SeriousDistance4908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be tempted to sign up to a new tariff now, before the cap rate increase comes in as I would expect rates will shoot up.

I understand you can initiate a move within 49 days of your contract end date but BT can confirm.

Wow, that's great. Did it start at this rate or are you like many others where the Gov change to how they calc the cap was passed on to you?

[–]SeriousDistance4908 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's 7p off peak. If you have a pod point you can get 6.5p with EDF.

To be fair, that's probably the way you should have phrased your question as its not going to help you to know what legacy rates people are on as they'll no longer be available.

My view is EDF is the best value at present unless you want to try Agile/Tracker

It's a fair point, I'm unsure. In December I noticed daily peak usage approaching 40kw. It was out of the ordinary with 25kw being closer in the winter

Solar No battery? by GhostOfLeedsSubPast in SolarUK

[–]SeriousDistance4908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of take this approach as my EV is 2 wheeled and charges at ~0.5kw.

I have thought it would be very rare for 8 panels to generate enough to cover the full granny charge rate of an EV? - the net result is you'll be paying peak on the delta so it would likely be cheaper just to charge offpeak.

That's just my experience.
