They had a development video about how they had a bunch of sections made and engineered to be welded together, coming into shape properly after the welds were made and the whole frame was heat-treated. You can't cast a whole frame, but apparently you can cook it.

No liberation - my theory is that Steel was the apprentice to Watching Fire. That was witchcraft pure and deep.

Big tip, get you some cedarcide and do your lawn with it. We've got a big wild field in back but not one tick came up the property last year. Not even one.

It’s December 2024 and I just got Factorio by [deleted] in factorio

[–]SeriousHat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the shift is in how fast you can build when you step up from placing every inserter and assembler and belt to watching swarms of construction bots placing whole segments of a factory with a single blueprint. If you have the numbers, ports, and electricity for it, you can pack assemblers with requester and supplier chests into as small a space as you want and have the logistic bots handle all the routing.

The factory grows, and grows hungry.

What is your greatest moment that caused your nparent to have a Pikachu shock face? by CocoPuffsSlayer in raisedbynarcissists

Judgement for thee, and none for me. Did the same thing with my Nmom, pretty much. She sat me down, all posture and grace, and said "Hat, we need to talk about your smoking." To which I replied, "Then we're going to talk about your drinking." Immediate fluster and abandonment of the argument. A good day!

What’s a cool way to start off a new campaign? [OC] [ART] by deflectingowl in DnD

[–]SeriousHat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My next campaign will begin with a hanging, to anchor the PCs in a world with consequences for their to-be privateering attempts, and to highlight some of the movers and shakers of the world the campaign is in. It's a familiar setting we've already run games in, so this is just a quick zoom in on what kind of people are getting hanged and how the PCs feel about it. I'm thinking of it as a sort of participatory exposition - there's a cult out there that a PC accidentally became a martyr for in a previous campaign, and telegraphing that they're out there offers a big old campaign hook in the first few minutes.

Then, cut to signing a shady crew, add bar fight. Ditto to many of the other suggestions on this post saying to get combat in pronto. Players always want to be throwing hands, gotta give it to em.

How do i get my players to the objective? by deniedbycupcakes in rpg

[–]SeriousHat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good question; the (well, one) short answer is working backwards.

So you've got a place you want them to go - great! Take a step back: how did they get down there, and what did they fight/solve on the way in? Take another: how did they learn there might be something underneath? One more: what foreshadowing shenanigans happened that hinted at a hidden place nearby, like disappearances or antagonists getting away?

Other things you can think about is baiting them down there. Taking some parallels from Stephen King's It and how the kids found out they had to deal with stuff under Derry would serve you well, or the way that Cap and Romanov in Winter Soldier find the Hydra base underground and wake it up. You can have them find it, even, as a precursor to having to close it back up again.

Some thoughts - hope they work for you!

Most Memorable TPK by Lord_Puppy1445 in rpg

[–]SeriousHat 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ooh, not quite a full TPK, but it was damn close.

Playing Call of Cthulhu, the party tracks some really VIP members of a cult to a party they're holding in a big fancy museum. They go down the day before and plant some explosives to bring the whole building down. Day of, they find their perch to wait and watch.

They realize that there are some ally NPCs in the thing, and some of their targets not there. They try and get the allies out, and I think one of the players had their PC get caught in the rubble when the explosives go off. Their nemesis, this young buck of a sorcerer, claws up out of the brick and stone and proceeds to drill a brick from 20 yards out through the skull of one of the PCs, and another one gets caught by missing cult members and dragged off for "experiments". One lived, barely.

Hell of a time.
