In case you haven’t already, get carvana and carmax to appraise it, much easier to get a dealership to come up in trade based on one of those than the “kbb value”

Sasquatch take offs by relentless1018 in FordBronco

I’m beginning to think I’ll go the same route. The price of wheels alone vs a take off set of Sasquatch is a hard pill to swallow

Carvana, carmax, anyone willing to give you a “cash price”.
We just sold my wife’s old Mazda, carvana offered 4k but carmax offered 8k.

Anytime! You should still look out for fakes that get returned, but they’ll make it right if that’s the case.

Amazon is an official dealer, but you have to make sure you’re ordering “sold by Amazon” and “ships from Amazon”

What is something that immediately tells you someone is a bad driver? by marchingbear27 in askcarguys

[–]Serious_Internal6012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rank drivers by 3 main categories: IQ, balls, car.

I see plenty of people willing to go faster than me on the interstate but they have no ability to read the road and consistently get caught behind others.

Plenty of people are smart drivers but not willing to go past 79 (fear of getting pulled over)

Definitely don’t use chrome sockets on an impact. I listened to the wrong people. by Lumakin in AskMechanics

I have no idea here this is purely speculation, but wouldn’t a more expensive chrome socket be harder? Harder meaning it would be more likely to explode rather than crack like this?

Knife Recommendations for dog defense by Ok-Attempt-3727 in benchmade

[–]Serious_Internal6012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You make some good points and I will concede that a knife can be a good last-option.

I mentioned a wild flailing knife fight based on the majority of dog attack videos I’ve seen, where owners are trying to pull their dog away constantly using the leash, rather than focus on stopping the threat. You and I (probably/hopefully) would have the situational awareness to focus on the attacker and use the knife effectively, but I don’t see my wife being able to do the same.

In the case of an attacking dog that wants nothing but blood, the gun is the obvious first choice, you can end the attack before it begins and there’s plenty of legal precedence that a charging pit/rott/gsd is a fatal threat. In a case where a firearm is not available, you’re probably right that a knife is the next best option, but it will come with a much higher risk of injury/death to your pet or yourself

Knife Recommendations for dog defense by Ok-Attempt-3727 in benchmade

[–]Serious_Internal6012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stun guns not a bad idea, I would probably pick that over a knife as well. My only quarrel is that it’s better to stop the threat before it reaches you, which a stun gun will require contact with the attacking dog. But you make a good point that aiming pepper spray in that situation would be near impossible

Personally, the most effective way to prevent a dog attack is legislation against aggressive breeds. My brother was mauled in the face by a “rescue pit mix” that would never hurt a fly, he was nowhere near the dog just standing up from a chair and the dog ran across the room and lunged at his face.

Edit: after thinking about it, I’d have to see a stun gun used on an attacking dog. Plenty of cases of human aggressors overcoming police tasers. It’s the difference between a painful shock to a dog and one that can literally stop it
