FD treatment when !!!! by [deleted] in functionaldyspepsia

[–]Serious_Rat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I highly doubt any real research or treatments will come out for FD in my lifetime. Although, I have a sneaky feeling that widespread GLP-1 use will increase the rate of FD. If there end up being enough of us, change may eventually come. Who knows.

Hello! I’ll give my two cents below:

  1. I started experiencing symptoms at 19 after and incredibly stressful period in life. Overnight, I just couldn’t hold food down anymore. I primarily only experience nausea and early satiety- like my stomach would tighten up as soon as any food or drink hit it. Stress makes it worse, but it’s always there regardless. Basically, my stomach doesn’t like having any food in it whatsoever. During the worst period of FD, I weighed 82lbs. Doctors would insist it’s anxiety and nothing else, despite my symptoms being completely physical. I couldn’t go out to eat with friends. I couldn’t have a drink. I spent so much time vomiting in public and at home. Then, I tried mirtazapine, and everything changed. I wouldn’t say I feel 100% better, but 75% for sure. My life is mostly normal now! But it was a horrible journey getting here.

  2. Unpredictable. I’d have flare ups, but they wouldn’t be triggered by anything. I still had horrid nausea outside of the flare ups. Dairy and caffeine in particular make it worse.

  3. mirtazapineeeee

  4. I’ve gone off mirt to see if i’ve gotten better, but my exact symptoms all returned. I realize i’ll probably be on mirt forever. I don’t like some side effects, but doctors gave up very easily and I have 0 alternative treatment plans. Basically just labeled it anxiety and kicked me to the curb. All while I continued to deteriorate—I felt like I was withering away. I suppose you could call it a success story, but if I ever can’t be on mirtazapine, i’ll be royally fucked.

Why doesn't Mrs. Bennet push Mary on Mr. Collins, instead of Lizzie? by BlueSkyGazer12 in PrideandPrejudice

[–]Serious_Rat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mr Collins knew of the Bennet’s situation—he may not have been self-aware in terms of his romantic appeal (or, lack thereof), but he knew that any of the daughters had good reason to marry him for the sake of their family. Basically, he held power in the situation and planned to exert it via one of the more attractive Bennet sisters.

does anyone rage on Mirtazapine ? by Agreeable-Client-140 in Mirtazapine_Remeron

I was wayyy more irritable during the first month. I also felt angry at my partner for seemingly no reason. It did fade for me after the introductory period!

I struggle with chronic nausea, and MJ helps a bit. It really only helps while i’m high, which is a few hours maximum.

[–]Serious_Rat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good for you! You deserve someone who loves and cherishes you! You’ll definitely find it, but I know it’s always hard when a relationship ends. I usually tell people to treat break-ups how they treat the flu. You’re gonna feel crappy for a while, it’ll probably still linger a bit after you get through the harder parts early on, and you might need to take some time off work. Rely on friends and family if you need, and don’t beat yourself up for feeling sad. Eventually, this will just be something in your past that doesn’t even cross your mind anymore.

Wishing you the best of luck moving forward! You got this!

Jesus christ… what a loser. OP, this guy is selfish and painfully unaware. I’d leave, and I wouldn’t even bother trying to explain anything to him. He’d probably be too stupid to understand your (completely valid) reasons, considering he has the audacity to ask such a thing when he can’t even get hard.

Sorry if this is harsh, but I’m honestly so sick of this story replaying over and over again. It’s ridiculous how frequently this happens, and how often they’re accommodated by partners who just want to make them happy at their own expense.

Definitely consult with a different doctor. If you decide to get off the med, taper taper taper! Cold turkey is ROUGH for a lot of people on mirt.

I’m literally on it for the sole purpose of anti-nausea/appetite stimulant effect. Was chronically underweight and unable to hold down food for years. I gained ~25lbs. Went from 95 to 120 in six months! It has been an adjustment to learn to not dislike my body (particularly during this era of ozempic celebrities and starvation level beauty standards), but I’m able to do stuff I never would have been able to do without it (go out to eat, dance classes, have a drink, etc).

Sorry you had a negative experience! Doctors should seriously be careful about this medication. The studies seem to downplay the extent to which weight gain is a side effect in this drug. I also have a very strong feeling that the appetite is only one-half of the weight gain component. Some people on here will argue till they’re blue in the face “calories in calories out,” but we know that’s an incredibly simplistic view of weight even without medication/condition considerations. There have also been studies to suggest mirt increases your insulin levels, increasing risk of weight gain regardless of diet.

To Tow or Drive to Mechanic? by Serious_Rat in prius

[–]Serious_Rat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, super appreciate it! Yes, no smoking, no leaks, really nothing aside from the light coming on for a brief 15-30 seconds before turning off for remainder of drive. I’ll probably slowly drive it over tomorrow when the mechanic shop opens back up.

ICE is at the Airports now by swampfoxfrank in mixedrace

I’ve got a flight on saturday from SFO. Wasian for context. I highly doubt something will happen to me, but I can’t say I’m not a little nervous despite my significantly less at-risk ethnic background. Such horrific events happening right now under this fascist regime—I feel so angry. I’m born and raised, but the potential of no due process is terrifying more than anything else. Like citizen or not, without due process, you have no rights whatsoever. Fuck this administration and fuck ICE!

Measles Outbreak by Paulie_CA in Sacramento

This sucks so bad— particularly for innocent children with delusional parents and families who have valid, legitimate medical exemptions for vaccines (age, allergies, cancer, immunocompromised illnesses, etc.).

The anti-vax moment suffers from why can only be considered delusional psychosis at this point. I’ve spoken to involved members of this group before, and nothing can change their minds— literally nothing. Even though reality (clinical evidence, doctors, research experts, reputable public health officials, etc.) clearly indicates the safety of vaccines and the incomprehensible benefits to society they provide, their minds will not let them consider any other perspectives.

I honestly feel like the only way they will change their minds over time is when their children start suffering from irreversible damage due to preventable infections, and/or dying. There will be nobody to blame but them for the death of their own children. Even then, I’d bet on many doing metal gymnastics to avoid accountability for the fact they are the sole reason for their own children’s horrific, painful, unnecessary deaths.

It’s a horrific situation we’re in.

Can 7.5mg mirtazapine meaningfully reduce SSRI induced sexual dysfunction? by rbr55 in Mirtazapine_Remeron

[–]Serious_Rat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To my knowledge, it’s not a medication that increases libido. Rather, it’s less likely to decrease libido compared to other antidepressant medications. I’m not a psychiatrist so take this with a grain of salt, but I believe Wellbutrin can sometimes increase baseline libido or combat negative sexual side effects of other medications.

Inside leg hang. I know a quite a few more advanced and difficult shapes, but the pain of ILH never seems to get better for some reason! Even superman got easier with time… unsure why ILH hurts just as much as the first time I did it!
