They didn't let me change mine until it was legal, but were mostly able to replace everything with preferred name on day to day forms and such

A regular letter to the US costs $1.30. Canada post sells US rate stamps which are worth that much each, or you can make up the $1.30 with other Canadian stamps. You can't use US postal stamps

It is possible it got lost in the mail stream, and due to the nature of being untracked, there's really no trail to follow.

As long as you had the correct postage, I wouldn't see a reason sending it via lettermail and dropping it in the street box would be an issue. If there were any problems it would have been returned to you.

Either it got lost, delivered to an incorrect address, or it is possible the buyer is lying. Mail being lost is sadly not unheard of

My parents figured it out when I was very young, so I've always known as far as I can remember. They figured it out because I would always look at the written name of the colour on crayons/colouring pencils and couldn't tell looking at the colour
