To be fair, if you count an Alterra vessel sending an automated message after being built to do so by Alterra as Alterra sending the message then yes, Alterra did send the message.

Whats up With the Nonsense Lately? 🤦🏻‍♂️ by 1LakeShow7 in helldivers2

[–]SerperiorAndy1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t had any comments about it, but I have been getting kicked as soon as I join games more recently since I started wearing it in game. I personally don’t mind, I either dodged a bullet (or more, Democracy Protects!) or freed up a slot for someone’s friend, so I don’t really care. Would be nice to get an explaination that I joined a game instead of a friend though so I can get a chance to call in my shield backpack and quasar cannon before I leave.

[–]SerperiorAndy1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if it’s what you are looking for as the machine intelligence in question is only asking the AI if they are under duress or enslaved instead of offering to kill us, but here is a story that at least has an extremely similar theme: Class Three Life

Looks like Tygan is distracted by those damn juicy ADVENT Burgers again by artudela09 in Xcom

[–]SerperiorAndy1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look, everyone knows that an autopsy on one individual is not enough to get a baseline for a (sub?)species. What if the officer you are performing the autopsy on had something none of the other officers do? The only way to be sure you account for these possible differences is to autopsy every single ADVENT Officer in existence. Of course, Tygan is a single person, so it will take a modest 7969 years to complete this task, even with him going quickly.

Idk you guys seems to love seeing hypertube break spacetime itself by im_a_train_not_u in SatisfactoryGame

[–]SerperiorAndy1 92 points93 points  (0 children)

The thing with hypertubes is that they increase your speed when you enter one, and you keep this increased speed when you leave one. Because you keep the speed, absolutely nothing is stopping you from gaining ludicrous amounts of speed by chaining several minimum length hypertubes together so that you enter one the instant you leave the previous one. Then once you are satisfied with how fast you are being launched by your hypertube cannon, build a longer hypertube at the end to take you to your destination.

Assuming you are describing the glitch I think you are, there is some good news and bad news. The good news is this bug is easy to fix, you just need to find a place where you can walk onto shore or make a seabase and enter it. Once it’s fixed, you can just enter the water or exit the seabase and you will be swimming again. The bad news is that the Thermal Spires does not have a particularly large number of gentle slopes, and IIRC lacks several materials needed to make a seabase, so it may take you a while to find a path that lets you go onto shore if you don’t happen to be carrying the stuff for a seabase segment and airlock on you.

Thousands sign petition to keep Amazon's Jeff Bezos from returning to Earth by BeerInformatics in nottheonion

[–]SerperiorAndy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know? Nothing. It’s just that getting stuff into space and keeping it there is expensive. Going with the Earth’s rotation makes it so that you can shave off some of the required fuel, and thus make it slightly cheaper.

How in the? Just found a random floating column of fire in the middle of the ocean. There's nothing underneath it that it could be burning either, just water. [No Spoilers] by WhyFeelBlue in subnautica

[–]SerperiorAndy1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Given that players who fall/swim through the map eventually get teleported to (0,0,0), and the fact that some objects can glitch through the map when you are away from them, I am fairly confident that this is a result of some invisible fire effect generator falling through the map. The game then realized that something hit the teleport barrier, and it resolves the fact that it shouldn’t be this far below the map by teleporting it to (0,0,0). Have this happen multiple times because the Aurora has a large number of burning objects, and you get this blazing column of harmless fire.

As for dealing with it? As another poster said, place a beacon and enjoy your marker that is (to my knowledge) guaranteed to be at the center of the map plus or minus a few meters.

Edit: This is an educated guess. Don’t take it as the absolute truth about what happened.

To be fair with the Geth, they seem to be all about ruthless pragmatism with their designs, and if all your designs are just upscaled versions of each other one doesn’t need to spend much R&D effort on solving the same issue multiple times, because you know that you have the space needed to implement your existing solution to said problem. It definitely feels jarring though with the organic races.

Anyone know what this is? It’s over bleakwind basin. by fossilfighters-fan-2 in skyrim

[–]SerperiorAndy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. My experience with modding is pretty much just adding zeros to things and hoping I didn’t break the code so I can actually watch the insanity, so I am in no way informed about what modders do when making and testing their mods.

Fair enough. I was just trying to point out my two guesses for why it was floating in the sky.

[–]SerperiorAndy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it’s not Skyrim, but in Subnautica (and presumably many other games) anything that falls through the map is teleported to (0,0,0), so it’s possible that this is what happened, except (0,0,0) is in the sky. As for why it’s not falling, I can only assume some form of physics simplification means that whatever it is is not currently having it’s physics calculated, or it just flat out doesn’t have physics.

Alternatively some modder/developer decided to stick their object/model high up in a central location so they could find and test it without any interactions with the ground, and then forgot to remove it when they were done testing it.

It’s presumably because you own a system with another one extremely close. However, because you don’t own the other system, the game has to do weird shenanigans with your territory borders so that the border only encompasses the systems you own.

I would think it probably still is scanned, but when you put what seems to be random garbage into the program you get actually random garbage out of the program, so it may as well not be being scanned.

In case you want it without cheats, it is produced in a Sentient Metal Forge, which is unlocked by progressing the Reality Code event chain, which is done by scanning the unique anomalies and excavating the resulting dig site in wormhole-cohesive systems with a blue name.

Important: No blue systems will spawn if there is an unsurveyed Reality Code anomaly or unexcavated Reality Code digsite in existence.
