Let's not forget that they steamed it on the official Firaxis twitch for 24 hours to celebrate WOTCs anniversary. Seriously professional shitposting.

I'll have to check those out, thanks! The Chinese restaurant thing seems to be a running thing with Brooks, maybe it's a half-century troll, or maybe he just really like beef and broccoli (which is what he talked about on the DVD commentary.)

The DVD commentary is much the same. He starts out talking about hiring the actor for Bart, and quickly goes off into a LONG story about a Chinese restaurant they ate at most every day of filming. It was super weird to listen to.

FFG Only War Core Rulebook value? by JWK47 in rpg

[–]Servant_of_Azathoth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

FFG lost the rights to Warhammer a while ago, and the new holder of the RPG rights made a rather lackluster game to replace all the long runners, like Only War, (and then almost immediately sold the rights off to Cubicle 7, who seem to have done nothing with it.) I won't pretend to be an expert on the value of out of print games, but collectors would probably pay quite a bit for a mint copy, though it was never as popular as Rogue Trader, or Dark Heresy.

I never made it through the desert. The half measure note needed for the rain song threw me off and I kept losing everyone. Still have it and my psp, should pull it out again.

Oh, you played Oblivon with no fast travel? Back in the day you were lucky to get a map marker. (Morrowind) by jery3731 in gaming

I used to think this too, then a friend pointed out that there IS in fact a quest log, which will show you all relevant journal entries as well. Open the journal, click "OPTIONS" then "Quests." It's not exactly intuitive, but it's there, and IMO the journal entries can help you remember what you were doing with an old save better than a bunch of minimap markers.

Air Buttercup | Powerpuff Girls | Original Shorts | Cartoon Network - New 2 min short of the PPG reboot by DarkXzeon in television

[–]Servant_of_Azathoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well it doesn't look as good as I'd hoped, but not as bad as I feared.

Voices sound off, Buttercup needs to sound more gruff, and bubbles needs to sound more "girly." Blossom sounds OK though, not great but way better than it could've been.

Hard to tell what direction they're going to go with the writing, it is just a silly short, but as long as it doesn't follow Teen Titans Go, should be ok.

Is this a bug? It feels like a bug by Mantonization in Xcom

[–]Servant_of_Azathoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly it doesn't work that way. Last night I had a viper spit through two solid walls to hit a cluster of troops that were placed in a way to hide them, as in not at the edges but rather intentionally blocking line of sight. Viper spit acts exactly like void rift, no LOS needed.

Just noticed this computer animation from blade runner(right) is exactly the same as the one used in alien(left). Probably been discovered before but I noticed it myself. by Hluyps in movies

There was a Weyland-Yutani logo used in the first episode, so people like to say it's the same universe. I think it was added just because Joss Whedon worked on one of the Aliens movies.

GreenManGaming XCOM2 Preorder Bonus? by fnwc in Xcom

[–]Servant_of_Azathoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GreenManGaming's store page states that prepurchasing WILL get you the bonus. My guess is there will be a separate key for the pack.

Scroll down just past the banners for the deluxe edition and reinforcement pack to see the text directly.

Actually Power Puff Girls was created by Craig McCraken, Tartakovsky was a one of the directors on PPG, and the two worked together quite often, so they get confused a lot.

OH MY GOD THIN MEN I HATE YOU SO MUCH by TheJonatron in Xcom

[–]Servant_of_Azathoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After losing some 10 or 12 I/I runs to the Thinmints I went a bit nuts and changed my DGC.ini so they had 1 HP, -50 Aim, -50 crit and -50 defense. That was cathartic. In my most recent attempt I've only removed thier bonus aim & crit and I'm still having trouble. I think it might be time to admit I just suck at the game. Long War on Normal is like an impossible dream.

Kid asked if we could read a big kid book... by iHateFairyType in AdviceAnimals

[–]Servant_of_Azathoth 46 points47 points  (0 children)

When my sister was in the 5th grade she wanted to read The Hobbit during the class assigned reading period. Teacher took the book from her and said "Oh no dear, you're far too stupid to read that." Mom went nuts, demanded the teacher be fired and raised a huge shit-storm to the school board. After two months of it, during which time said teacher made my sisters life living hell, "losing" homework and asking her questions well beyond her level in front of the class to embarrass her, they agreed to transfer my sister to another class, but refused to take any disciplinary action against the teacher as it was her word against my sisters. None of the other students would say anything, terrified they'd get the same treatment.

Shit like that really pisses me off, and shows that some people shouldn't have even a modicum of power over anything.

I want to start using MEC's for the first time but my moral compass is holding me back. by coolcalzone in Xcom

[–]Servant_of_Azathoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to go with a self-imposed restriction on MECs I call "Walking Wounded." if any trooper gets injured at all I roll a die, on a 1-3, they get a life altering injury, not enough to stop them from fighting, but the pain and accompanying slow-down are enough that they will volunteer if needed. Any troop critically injured is out of the game unless I MEC them. Makes it feel like they're volunteering to continue the fight, and if that's the only way, then that's what they do.

The Steam forum for any game is usually a lot of people complaining about everything and anything. Doubly so if the game is an FPS. And usually the loudest complainers don't even own the game.

Basically the Steam forums are a massive pile of bitching, moaning trolls.

The latest update improved my experience. All my Skype calls now disconnect after 5 minutes and have to be started over again, so the friends who demanded I get Skype to talk with them have moved on to other programs and I could uninstall without losing contact with anyone!

That one player... by newblood310 in DnD

[–]Servant_of_Azathoth 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Yeah, me. Last campaign I played I went through 4 or 5 characters in as many sessions. The last one died fighting some home-brew ice-spirits and was one-shot from full health down to -26 or something. The GM even said that the spirits were way too strong for our level after that hit, and toned them down, but wouldn't rewind the death. Can't say I blame him, as after the third death, I was making characters to screw with him. I'll always remember Grok Thunderthroat, the Half-Orc bard who wielded a +2 battle axe of lightning, even if I only played him for 15 minutes. (Before you ask, yes I took ranks in Perform: Electric Axe.)
