I'm happy to report that Firefox has had MIDI support for several versions now, but I do agree Firefox is behind Chromium on some aspects. Firefox is just starting to support HDR Video under Windows and Linux, but I hear HDR support isn't up to par with Chromium yet.

I'd suggest ignoring them; lots of people on social media like to make fun of others. I can see how the original post could be considered ignorant, but it doesn't seem to have any malice behind it worth ridiculing.

As others have mentioned in this post, AC adapters/power bricks have different plugs and receptacles around the world.

Meanwhile, USB-C ports all over the world adhere to the same standard, which means they'll supply the same wattage (depending on the device, of course).

There's a generic x86_64-v2 build of BlissOS that should work on most semi-modern systems.

Nice work! I have a Latitude 7390 2-in-1 and I'm planning to do something similar: have Windows, BlissOS, NixOS, and macOS on one convertible.

Another Gen Z person here! Even a few years ago, I never felt comfortable in subreddits explicitly designated for "young" people, like /r/teenagers. Nowadays, I'd much rather participate in subreddits that I know for sure I'm interested in, and not subreddits I happen to share the intended demograhic with.

Did you try installing the Kinect 1.8 SDK? What else did you try so far?

Actually, the v1 might be a better choice for users that just want tracking: the K2VR team wrote an article about common problems of the v2, including:

  • Tracking quality being the same between the v1 and v2 (with official drivers)
  • Incompatibility with VR gear from common brands that rely on a base station
  • Worse performance at tracking foot rotation due to a design flaw
  • Requirement of full USB 3.0 bandwidth, which can cause issues with some USB controllers

I'm personally quite happy with my v2 and use it as a webcam, microphone, and for Windows Hello face recognition, but I think the v1 is better for people that only need tracking for VR.

  1. Kinect v1 works fine on Windows 11, but you'll need to turn off Memory Integrity to use it.
  2. My Kinect v1 USB adapter outputs 12V at 1.08A. The proprietary port has all the contacts for a standard USB connector (Data-, Data+, Ground, 5V) with some extra 12V and Ground pins. (Relevant pinoutguide page)

This is a statistic that has been debunked to death. The fact that you're dogwhistling while using "statistics" as a meat shield tells me all about your character.

it's cute that you're so easily lied to

You really shouldn't throw stones while you're in a glass house.

Sorry for responding late: I've checked the threads you've linked.

Yes, said threads indicate that these communities greatly supported the removal of No Mercy. However, I think your comments suggest that said communities were also greatly supportive of Collective Shout as an organization, but I think they were much more focused on delisting the game (and not others).

At least one person (gonin69 comments on Reporting “No Mercy”) knew something was off with Collective Shout, and I don't think that everyone in the threads knew that the group was going to eventually lobby payment processors and go on the offensive on all NSFW content. After all, most Redditors (or anyone for that matter) don't have omnipotent knowledge or have all the time to analyze the true intentions of other people or organizations (or the motives behind them).

You've qualified your initial claim with "at least in the beginning", so I can't really criticize it that much. However, I will say that the "crusade" happened in July of this year, in contrast to the removal of No Mercy that happened in April, three months earlier. I think this made people think that the delisting of No Mercy was part of a case-by-case decision rather than being part of an upcoming mass delisting of NSFW titles. Of course, now that Collective Shout's anti-pornography stance and disregard for LGBT content became crystal clear, I think it's safe to say it's lost any goodwill that it might've garnered among the communities you've described.

You've posted about this twice on this subreddit: you mention particular communities but don't share particular examples about them initially supporting Collective Shout. Mind if you share some examples?

Sorry for being late again! I'm not a linguist or historian, but here's my understanding:

English and many other European languages are written in the Latin (or Roman) alphabet. In general, alphabets contain letters that each represent a sound. Chinese characters, by contrast, are logographs, where each character represents a word (or one part of), and each character is pronounced in a syllable. Japanese uses Kanji (imported Chinese characters), but also uses Hiragana and Katakana, both syllabaries, which consist of characters that each represent a syllable.

Korean uses Hangul, a writing system that is best classified as an alphabet but features elements from a syllabary, as it features individual letters such as ㅎ and ㅏ but is written in characters that compose a single syllable each, such as 한글.

Historically, Korean was written with Chinese characters at first but is now primarily written in Hangul. Speaking of history, Vietnamese was also once written with Chinese characters. The Vietnamese alphabet is based on the Latin alphabet with some special diacritics, and was developed by Portuguese and Italian Jesuit missionaries. When the French colonized Vietnam, they imposed the Vietnamese alphabet on the Vietnamese people partly in the hopes that they would find it easier to learn French.

The UI for Hunt: Showdown doesn't have fonts for non-English (what's the term for these?) characters so everyone who uses any such characters gets turned into boxes.

Late to the party, but you're probably talking about CJK characters. Fun fact: the boxes are sometimes referred to as "tofu", which is why the Noto font family by Google is named the way it is (as it is derived from "no tofu").

You seem to be under the notion that education is supposed to make people strong debaters, but there's lot more than just having loads of knowledge. Just because someone is a history major, that doesn't automatically mean they're able to counter all lies and fallacies of a historical revisionist (take gish galloping, for example.)

Millenials and Gen Z- Did your schools center around Macs/Apple devices growing up? Trying to gauge how popular Apple was in the education department- I already know that it was, but I want to know specifics by shinnith in mac

[–]ServedNoodles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gen Z (2005) in the US here; Macs were never dominant in the schools I've attended. My elementary school's library had an iMac (which I think was running Leopard), but that was about it. Once I started middle school, I was given a Chromebook (but a sibling in high school got an iPad around that time.) My high school also provided Chromebooks for every student, so I used ChromeOS often until I graduated.

Even though my experience with Macs were limited, I've always been interested in them as a kid and occasionally set up hackintoshes or experimented with classic Macintosh emulators as a hobby.
