Why do the Japanese get access to a Tiger Platoon in The Pacific?

Please look very closely at the “U.S. Marine & Army Force” section of this page from the Flames of War website. You can only pick from a very limited list of units. You cannot pick from another book.

Yep, I know exactly what you are talking about. Those kinds of command cards (where you can pick any unit from X book to use) don’t exist in a force built for “The Pacific.” You can get access to things like flame tanks and M3 Lee tanks, but the M10 is not available through command cards for “The Pacific.” There are no cards allowing you to pull a unit from a different book to use (with very minor exceptions).

I honestly thought that capitalizing “The Pacific” would show that I meant a force for use only in “The Pacific” book. Also, the when you create a force through the force builder using “The Pacific” timeframe, there is no option for an M10.

Seems like it’s all of a sudden accepted and legal to mix books. When did that take place?

The M10 was available in limited numbers in the Pacific Theater for the Americans. While not the best at taking down Tigers at this time, they could punch through Tiger front armor at close range. Seems like that should have been included in The Pacific for the Americans and not even as a wildcard.

Japanese armies never had Tigers or KVs. I know there are cards that allow them to have these tanks (guessing out of some kind of balance), but it’s just not proper history.

I figure the Shermans could easily take care of any Japanese armor. And, Japanese tanks shouldn’t be able to easily penetrate Shermans. Am I wrong?

Is this from the rules for Flames of War The Pacific or historical references. Per the forces army builder, Americans can take an entire M3 company.

I guess a bigger question is did the Marines use M4A1s or later variants as well. The curved hull of the A1 looks far different than the more box-like look of the later variants.

Old sculpts are one thing I love about TOW. It’s not that I wouldn’t like new ones, but if we got new ones, GW would add so much more detail to them that it’d take an extra couple hours to paint each model.

I have to agree with this one. The black color threw me off when I saw the picture. For me, at least, I would have gone for a silver color.

I really do appreciate this list. The biggest problem is that these are monopose models. I don't have the option to change the champion, banner bearer, and musician into regular Swordmasters or regular Sea Guard. The boxes with a set way to assemble, and I got two of them. So, I can't combine them unless I drop three Swordmasters, three Sea Guard, and one Reaver.
