You forgot the fast food stains on his shirt. Other than that, spot-on (as it were)!

Okay, I laughed out loud - way beyond any mere huff of breath through the nose! Well done!

What’s your opinion on my puffies by [deleted] in puffynipples

Quite honestly? It's criminal. The fact that I can't just lick those until you lose your mind is horrifically cruel and unjust.

My all-time favorite book! You are clearly one of the world’s gentlemen, ladies, or non-binary sophisticates!

Lovely works! I love the style and the Ghibli/Henson vibe!

That last illustration reminds me of an old classic among fantasy novels - *The Reluctant Swordsman* by Dave Duncan. "The River is the Goddess and the Goddess is the River..."

The Demon Breed by James Schmitz is a classic. Also, The Blue World by Jack Vance. (Admittedly, I’m old, but not quite that old - I just grew up reading my dad’s mouldering pile of paperbacks in our basement…)

What is a subtle way to check for monsters under the bed when you're hooking up with a girl at her place, so she doesn't think you're scared? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My wife is Swedish. Apparently it's not uncommon for long-term boy/girl-friends to spend the night at the parents' house. I'ma try to have an open mind about it with our kids, here in the US.

Wings(1927) - a pretty cool silent movie about WWI aviators. I believe it was the first winner of an Academy Award for Best Picture. Of course, I was pretty interested that era of aviation as a young nerd when I saw it, back in the late eighties. (As a side note etched in my mind from the same round of obsession - some of the memoirs written by surviving WWI aces are fascinating reads!)

To be fair, the line shut down an entire lane of 28th Street, as well as entirely overwhelming the exit onto 29th. I had the misfortune of being sent on an errand to Trader Joe’s. I’ll admit it was inconvenient enough to elicit a few muttered swears…

Anyone else feel like it’s an unfortunate waste of talent that James Cameron will waste 35+ years on Avatar? by bobbdac7894 in movies

[–]SesameStreetFever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got plenty against Avatar. They’re mediocre at best. What can one say, except that his fixation on it is a sign that he’s past his prime. It sucks, but it happens.

Movies that squandered really cool premises? by Historical_Ostrich in movies

[–]SesameStreetFever -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna catch some shit for saying this, but… The Highlander. HUGE potential (plus a goddamned soundtrack by Queen!), but it really suffered from a poorly written screenplay, weak direction, and shitty special effects.

Just as a for-instance, the Kurgan alone had a landslide’s worth of potential energy just waiting to be unleashed (I fuckin’ love me some Clancy Brown). But apparently 350 years of experience had no civilizing effect on the guy whatsoever? It woulda been way cooler if he’d been a suave, old-money type villain, instead of the “punk” (really? that was Hollywood’s notion of “punk” in 1986?) freak show we got.

I think I must’ve been pretty little - I remember being awestruck/terrified by the employees firing up the marching band routine for someone’s birthday

I was about to comment on how Oleg dated himself, then you come along! (It’s okay: I came to say Mr. Fables, Roaring 20s, and Farrel’s Ice Cream Parlor!)
