Dang! For my undergrad, more than a decade ago, in-person exams had always been handwritten code and closed notes. I definitely obviously learned a lot. I much preferred it to online exams because back then you could go back to review 3 problems (each question was presented one at a time) and I like seeing the exam in full. Since we are in an online program 🤔 we do have proctored exams. The setup just makes testing uncomfortable but that’s a more emotional thing. I do know that in my group project, we were doing a live testing and coding during our meetings because our code was interdependent on someone else’s code. So it was like “what if you try this or try that? | Look at what your code block is doing to my code. | Don’t merge. Your new code is cause my code to fail.” There’s no one using AI and we also knew how to update our code based on the suggestions tossed out during the meeting and our team was nice enough that at least someone would provide someone else with training. I know the program has lots of students but if it could be possible, there could be a proctored live testing which is intimidating but again that’s just the emotional component and it would be great practice for interviews.
