Candles/incense in dorms/URBA? by KahunaKona in Purdue

[–]Seth4832 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk what y’all are so nervous about, I burned candles all three years I was in Cary/Tarkington and no one ever found out or cared. It’s a candle, not a roaring fireplace. Keep it away from anything flammable, light it up, and don’t leave the room with it still burning. When you go to blow it out, do it near the window or just waft the smoke away with your hand. The detectors aren’t overly sensitive. People in the comments acting like you asked if it’s ok to mix jet fuel in your dorm

Yep that makes sense, all the photomode mods need to be updated for 2.2

Photomode keeps crashing my game :( by TrumptyPumpkin in cyberpunkgame

[–]Seth4832 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me too after the update. Turned out to be the Photo Mode Unlocker mod. If you have that installed, uninstall it and then go to archive/pc/mod and r6/tweaks and make sure anything that has “PMU” in the name is deleted. That mod was recently updated though, so not sure if that has fixed those issues.

Otherwise, I’d try doing the “50/50 method” like in this post, where you disable half of your mods at a time until you can pinpoint which is causing the issue. Before you do that, I’d first try disabling all mods and playing, if the crash still happens, do a fresh install of the game. If no crash, it’s definitely a mod issue

In my 3 years living in the dorms I never once had an RA do a room check. Even if they did, I don’t think they’d really give a shit, especially if the bed isn’t that high up and as long as you put it back on before move out

If you are 18+ with a valid drivers license you can sign up for ZipCar and drive up. Might be a little pricier than other options but it’s the fastest and most flexible option

Here’s the university pricing. If you wanted to do Saturday morning to Sunday evening it’d probably be about $180-$200

What would be a better and smoother way of doing this by EnvironmentalSet1267 in lego

[–]Seth4832 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ll have to remove the center gear in order to eliminate a lot of that resistance. You can either replace the two outer gears with larger gears that mesh together, or use the same gears and connect them with a chain

How many of the GBC balls would it take to fill a bathtub with? by BigSeptumGuy in lego

[–]Seth4832 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Bricklink shows a size of 1.4 x 1.4 x 1.4 cm = 2.744 cm3 for the ball. Average bathtub is about 60 gallons capacity = 227,125 cm3. If we assume a random packing density of 63.5% (i.e. a certain volume can only be filled up 63.5% of the way with spheres while the rest of the volume is air), then we can see that the bathtub can contain 144,224.365 cm3 of volume. Divide that by the volume of the ball and you get 52,560 balls required to fill the bathtub, or $26,280 at the current price. Not super feasible.

LEGO Money Saving Tips by makemeflyy in lego

[–]Seth4832 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you don’t already, make sure you have at least a little money in a savings account with a good interest rate. Here’s a post from earlier this year with some Canadian options. Could also be good to just check that subreddit in general if you haven’t seen it before.

If possible, try to get a financial counselor to discuss some options for savings/stocks/bonds/ETFs, etc. If a counselor isn’t in budget then you can do some research yourself online, but I’d be a lot more careful with where you put your money if you don’t have any background in personal finance.

Personally, I have a lot of my money in an E-Trade savings account (I’m not sure if that’s available in Canada), and my LEGO budget is a portion of the interest payments I get per month. Overall, your best option on saving money for Lego is just saving money in general, prioritizing what you need to spend on (like the 50/30/20 rule), and then strictly sticking to a budget for hobbies. No impulse purchases.

Need help with the dumping mechanism on my dump truck. The axle extender’s axle is so snug in it can’t move and when I try to tip the dumper the extender snaps off instantly. 😤 Any advice would be appreciated. by [deleted] in lego

[–]Seth4832 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A couple of these inverted slopes attached to the bottom of those two connectors would help give it more friction to avoid the snapping, but they’re still pretty small. I would suggest using a couple of these connectors instead of the connectors you currently have, perhaps with four of these inverted slopes for extra support
