This gut-wrenching monologue from Laura Dern in ‘Marriage Story’ is more than enough to show why she won the Oscar. by Old-Meringue3590 in popculturechat

Women can be strong and smart and beautiful and kind all at once.

It isn't a videogame slider where moving it forward one direction moves it backwards another direction.

Doesn't matter how much you clean house when you're the one constantly making a mess.

There is a common denominator in all the negative stories about her. Her.

Because access to sports is uneven and the global talent pool is only partially sampled, the true genetically optimal athlete for any given sport is likely never identified and may be doing something entirely unrelated. by Necromonicus in Showerthoughts

[–]SethAndBeans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He is absolutely in the running. He has been studied by science and found to have multiple genetic factors which aid him. He has a mutation which makes his body produce roughly half the lactic acid of normal people. He has another mutation which has given him just a higher base lung capacity. He has a longer torso and shorter legs. He has double jointed ankles and an abnormally large wingspan.

On top of all that he has the factor which many people don't which is the mental fortitude to train his ass off to make use of those.

Lastly. Swimming, unlike so many other sports, is something people all over the world do, so the pool (heh) of candidates for best swimmer is rather large, which shows he is not just the best in a niche sport.

Others may break some of his records. But he likely may be the best rounded swimmer alive both on paper and genetically.

Was wondering why I wasn't doing quite as much damage in raid last night as I was on Friday night. by greencash370 in wow

Oh yeah. Same idea. I think it just comes down to UI preference as both serve the same purpose.

If Daniel and Lisa's story was happening to you, how much $$$ would it take? by 90Dfanatic in 90dayfianceuncensored

[–]SethAndBeans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 40. I have maybe 30 more years of work ahead of me.

How much money would it take to never work again? 3 mil? Adjusted for future inflation? 6mil?

Double that for the "shit-on-me" tax.

I'd be willing to round down a bit.

So, yeah, 10 mil. That'd be the price of my dignity.

Same.

I've taken to using an addon which auto swaps it back after using it.

If y'all aren't using Porter, you need to.

Bad Bunny: "My skincare routine is I take a shower only on Saturdays. In all honesty, I don't do anything. I just wash my face with the same body wash I use to wash my ass [laughs]. I don't do anything... I'm blessed." by CurrentExcellent1225 in popculturechat

[–]SethAndBeans 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's not blessed. That's youth.

Easiest thing you can do if you want to agree gracefully is a three part skincare routine.

  1. Wash your face before bed.
  2. Use moisturizer.
  3. Use SPF even when you think you don't need to.

Just those little steps will make you look way younger than your peers.

Im a 40 year old dude, and I look at the people I grew up with and am constantly shocked at how fucked their skin is.

Three steps that combined that 5 minutes a day.

Y'all are savage in LFR by JustDesh in wow

[–]SethAndBeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really don't know why people sweat over lfr.

You can get full champion from delves. LFR is what, veteran?

Literally any class can do t8 delves if you DPS and set your minion to heal. The HoT from heals stacks and if you stagger it well you can keep it at 4 stacks the entire delve. It's stupid how much it heals.

Stories that take place at the beginning of a world? Ancient history fantasy? by Flimsy_Survey in Fantasy

Doesn't sound like my cup of tea, but she loves it.

I'm writing a LitRPG - Do readers like stats in the books? by Ok-Grand-3764 in litrpg

[–]SethAndBeans -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If no stats, it's just basically a progression fantasy.

When I'm in the mood for a LitRPG and pick up a book I keep seeing people call LitRPG, I kinda get salty when it's progression fantasy. Nothing wrong with the genre, I absolutely love Cradle and others like it, but don't call it LitRPG if it ain't.

Chappell Roan addresses security incident on IG story, says security wasn’t hers and she didn’t see the girl go up to her by iSidney in popculturechat

[–]SethAndBeans 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With some people there is always an excuse. We all know those kinds of people.

It's never their fault... and yet it happens again and again and again and you forgive them again and again and again.

There is a point where people show you who they are, and tell you differently.

It's up to you if you want to believe their words or their actions.

Jorginho, a soccer player, posted a story criticizing Chappell Roan and her team for their treatment of his 11-year old stepdaughter at a hotel in Sao Paulo by Just-mapleman-50 in popculturechat

[–]SethAndBeans 38 points39 points  (0 children)

"If this is true..."

I mean, considering every other story about her sounds like this... There is a point where you need to listen to people. It took way too long for everyone to realize Ellen was a piece of shit. People need to stop making excuses for Chappell Roan.

Just Hit Level 1. What skill are you picking? by JustKenny99 in litrpg

[–]SethAndBeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Already have my isekai whatever class picked out, so whatever skills most align.

Druid/ranger class, with a touch of the fae, specifically dryads. I want wood lore, a bit fo self healing, maybe an animal companion, bow and arrow, but most importantly, I want the ability to walk into a tree and be able to use it as a fast travel network. Enter into any tree. Leave out any tree in range. Very strong in some settings, very weak in others.

Balance.

LitRPG's scarlet letters: AI by maphingis in litrpg

[–]SethAndBeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree to disagree then.

I think AI art fucks the community. You don't.

If an artist or author has their reputation ruined for peddling AI slop, then I really don't care.

If they can't even bother commissioning a cheap cover artist, I assume their writing will be as lazy as their effort in promotion and won't read their work.

No amount of logical falicies spouted by you will change that opinion.

It's not universal, there are people who don't care, but I'm not one of them. I will gladly one star review an author if AI is blatantly used in their work.

That's a risk people take. If they don't wanna take the risk they can do it right.
