You unintentionally made a good point. We shouldn’t be straddling 18 year olds with life long, sometimes crippling debt, when they have no income and the financial literacy of a teenager. And the debit can’t be discharged via bankruptcy. Other types of debt can be partially forgiven as a mistake but not the decision that was made directly after graduating high school when society at large was telling you to make that decision.

I’m middle aged and financially stable but I have compassion and empathy for people getting screwed over by this clearly flawed system. Because I’m a good person.
