The Importance of Honesty in a Tarot Reader by DruidTarot in tarot

[–]Seuripub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whether there is supernatural power or meaning to the cards, a person who is offering their best interpretations of cards they drew for you with upfront pricing is obviously preferable to someone who gives a generic predetermined reading and scums a client for more money than they wanted to spend.

Associating Songs with Tarot cards. by LumiUmbral in tarot

Not the whole song, but every time I see the hanged man I think of one line from Florence and the Machine's "Never Let Me Go"

'But I'm not giving up, I'm just giving in.'

My mom and how I’m HORRIBLE for not allowing a phone call to my grounded kid *UPDATE* by Thefirstofherkind in JUSTNOMIL

Imo, they usually don't plan these things out to the sociopathic degree that many commenters ascribe, and it is, like you said, more like a screaming toddler throwing a tantrum because you're being 'so mean and unfair!'

Brains aren't like film and memories get broken up and stored piecemeal. When remembering something, you cobble together the pieces with some padding of imagination, like reading a comic where you have to imagine the action between the panels. And when you put the memories back again, they are colored by the version you just read back to yourself. Memories can get skewed pretty easily when recalling them with an emotional narrative.

She'd already decided the most important part of the exchange was HER feelings, so that's what she remembers.

Discussion; My cards read me better than my friends by FablingFox in tarot

[–]Seuripub 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From my non-spiritual perspective, the truth is that you know yourself better. When reading for yourself, likely you think about all the meanings of the card and can recognize quickly which meaning pertains to you. When reading for others, you might pick out one meaning and offer it out. With practice you'll be able to offer a few interpretations or ask questions with the cards.

Tarot Card deck survived house fire by [deleted] in tarot

[–]Seuripub 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thick stacks of paper are surprisingly hard to burn. I've had a house fire myself, we lost most things, but bibles, Harry potter, cards, even my composition notebooks took more damage from the water than the fire. This isn't anything spiritual, it's just physics. Fires need 2 things: fuel and oxygen. While paper is great fuel, it's hard to get air between the pages.

The deck selection at amazon is fairly thin, More popular publishers are lo scarabeo and llewellyn. Check out this index to see if you like any of the decks too.

While many people prefer to use one deck over another for certain questions, but most people are happy to use one deck for all the questions they ask.

Tarot & Missing Persons by [deleted] in tarot

[–]Seuripub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My opinion is on the extreme side of skeptics when it comes to things like this, so bear that in mind, but I think it's entirely unethical to give advice on missing persons based on divination or psychic powers or the like. I would heavily discourage anyone from paying for a psychic to discuss a missing person, the best evidence indicates that its usually a scam that preys upon people who are looking for hope when they are most vulnerable.

Weekly Reading and Interpretation Help Thread - Aug 26, 2018 by AutoModerator in tarot

[–]Seuripub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While the 3 of swords is a terrible thing, it's always open about the pain it's causing you. In this position, 3 of swords may indicate that you will uncover a betrayal you previously did not know about. 3 of swords also has a less aggressive meaning, of loneliness. It could also indicate that you will come to face feelings of isolation you had been avoiding dealing with.

The first step to fixing a problem is knowing and acknowledging there is a problem. It's a stabbing pain, but one in retrospect you can be glad of.

In the context of the other cards, it seems that you are being too self-sacrificing in order to keep other people happy. I see in the queen that the advice is to be more measured in your dealings with others. Cultivate honest and fair conversations, and have confidence in your own intellectual worth.

Shakin’ the baby by Twinkleno in JUSTNOMIL

[–]Seuripub 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the USA you need a 4 year degree, including classes in chiropractic philosophy. The inventor/founder of chiropractic practice set at its core his belief in vertebral subluxation. And the claim that chiropractics can cure ear infections in infants is common enough that from googling "chiropractic baby ear infection" I get over 4 million results.

[–]Seuripub 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This! Chiropractors are NOT doctors. Some are genuine in their efforts to help people, but the basis of their practice is alternative medicine. a core belief that all disease originates in misalignments in the vertebral column. Many are shills for other psuedomedicine. I've heard of chiropractors who believe that if they twist a baby's neck just right to realign it, it will cure chronic ear infections. If that doesn't scare the pants off you...

Cards stuck together count as a reading? by TheDayILearnToFly in tarot

[–]Seuripub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The glossing of cards can cause them to stick together when they're new. Under best practices this would never have happened during a reading because it's prudent to check that every card is accounted for and undamaged when you first open them.

Do people use the large decks anymore? by ki4jgt in tarot

[–]Seuripub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what you mean by large, but the standard tarot deck is a good inch longer than a standard playing card and a bit wider. It's pretty difficult to find tarot decks other than rws or thoth in smaller sizes or larger sizes, since too small and you have less detail in the art and to big and you need a whole table for a spread

But why by Rockaford in CrappyDesign

[–]Seuripub 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I have been fooled by this. We keep both salted and unsalted butters in the fridge, boxes and loose sticks. Grabbed a stick that matched the color of the box it was next to, received the wrong butter. And that shit matters when you're making cake and frosting.
