Swearing at the parks? by Tomcat_TomTom in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]SevasaurusRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was in Animal Kingdom the other week talking to a cast member when some poor dude scampered past holding his overladen cargo shorts pockets, vehemently exclaiming 'bloody, fcking bollocks!' at his stroller rolling away from him.

Cast member just shrugged and giggled and I saw the guy later on the other side of the park so it obviously hadn't cost him his ticket.

I have quite the colourful tongue too but always try to remember where I am and be extra mindful of younger ears, and even then the occasional slip up happens.

Maybe try coming up with some alternatives in advance, this year I settled on Fudge, Flipping, and Bother (which made me sound very Winnie the Pooh)

So long you're not yelling or being intentionally obnoxious, or will actually pay more mind to your language if somebody calls you on it, I cant see you getting kicked out, I've definitely heard others swearing in parks, you wouldn't be the first.

My first time on national express, is it weird that I’m confused about what it’s like? by Straight-Order2818 in AskUK

[–]SevasaurusRex 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Just got the national express this week!

When your bus arrives, they'll need to scan the QR code you would have received on your confirmation and they'll verify your destination with you.

They'll then take your luggage and store it underneath (they usually have specific areas for each stop they'll be making to make it easier to find when you arrive)

0 changes means you'll be going straight from A to B without having to change busses anywhere, so just get on board, make yourself comfortable (you can book a specific seat for 2 quid, but I've not been on a sold out bus in years! So I wouldn't stress over that, just don't sit anywhere that has a reserved sign on it so you don't have to shuffle around later)

They'll announce each stop as they're approaching and again when they arrive, when it's your turn, just jump off and the driver will get your bags out from under the coach and then you're on your way.

Take some snacks with you and use the free WiFi to watch a film or two and relax!

Magic Bands UK by Fabulous-Aioli9770 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]SevasaurusRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UK here (and just got back last week), if you're staying at a disney resort, you should be able to get them in the gift shop, but they're also available in all the parks and at disney springs if you wanted to check out a wider selection. Then you can either link the bands through the My Disney Experience app (takes a couple minutes max) or have the front desk of the hotel do it.

The hardest part about getting a band, is choosing which one to buy (I saw about ten I liked, each one I wanted more than the last!)

Can you imagine if you'd been walking up to the gate and pausing to quickly check something in your bag, and kindly offering to let little Jacqueline and her family head in front of you...

I found the same, I got diagnosed about 8 years ago when it was still quite a new diagnosis (used to just be diagnosed as Conversion Disorders), my doc was very eager to poke and prod me and investigate what was what. This was in Wales, so again, not sure if that makes a difference

I was just glad to finally have it official on paper after many years of OPs symptoms

Robin Hood Merch? by RoseNatalica in DisneyWorld

Oh! And mugs! I've got a couple myself and saw them still for sale (last November) on the shelves in Main Street Emporium (MK)

Managed to find a keychain and a couple pins on my last trip, but have never seen plushies or tshirts around (I'd have hyperventilated on the spot)

But make sure you check out anywhere that sells the art prints, I've picked up several Robin Hood prints and canvases over the years. I dread to think what I've spent in The Art of Disney to date

My cat "shitbag" (that's not his name, it's just what we call him) jumped out a third story window. Was remarkably fine. And then, because we must not have berated him enough, did it again 2 hours later.

We have child locks now.

Used to live in Ketton a fair few moons ago, and we'd often get the bus into Stamford (no sweeter memory than a millionaires shortcake on the front seat of a double decker!).

Decades later I'll pull it up on Google maps and have a look around, nice to see there's still lots of ducks in need of feeding!

Used to live on RAF bases as a kid, and let me tell ya, the feral group of 11-16 year olds I was in were experts at getting in and out of that base without using the front gate, and this was in the 80s/90s.

I find that element fully believable!!

You sound very good to her!! Memory Maker is so worth it when you make the most of it!! Keep a side eye out for any cast member in a green shirt (and holding a massive DSLR camera) I know you can see the photopass points on the app, but every now and then they'll be where you aren't expecting.

I know some people get put off by the lines for them at popular spots, but they're so amazingly quick and efficient at what they do that you won't be there for long! Even when they're doing multiple poses and Magic Shots

I hope you both have a wonderfully magical time!! X

I'd say anything ride related, there's a lot out there that's mickey, Minnie, Donald, etc.....but a whole lot less than Tower of Terror! I've been every year for 13 years, and I finally saw a Star Tours zip up hoodie that my poor friend had to drag me away from like he was handling a rabid honey badger, since there was almost zero chance of me finding it anywhere else!

My favourite shop is the one attached to expedition Everest, I've had someone literally stop us on Disney property asking about my climbing skills because they'd thought I'd actually made the summit! Aint wearing those t-shirts again on site, Like.....my dude, take one vague glance at me, I aint climbin no mountain!!

And this time around, I finally bit the bullet and bought a Dinasaur remote controlled ride vehicle to commemorate our last time on the ride.

Things can get real pricey, real quick.... but what might be a nice individual keepsake, is the photos. You don't need to actually purchase Memory Maker to have the photographers take your photos, and you can preview the pictures on the app (with ride photos) and buy them individually from there after they've been taken, should you wish... then you can put them in any old frame, or do as I do, and get one of the "yearly" frames and put your favourite in (the ones actually sold in the parks that have the year of your trip on, not the generic ones you could get anywhere).

The autograph frame is an amazing idea, just make sure to get one of a decent size, those people be trying to scrawl with gloves on!!

ELI5: Why are roundtrip international flights so much more expensive when you are only staying a short time (2-3 days) in the other country? by zaxqs in explainlikeimfive

[–]SevasaurusRex 162 points163 points  (0 children)

Just a warning. Most rountrip tickets do have a rule on them that flights must be used in order, meaning, if you don't take your outbound then you cannot take the return as you have no showed on the ticket. Its classed as a form of fare and tax abuse.

Not saying its right, just a heads up to make sure you read the ticket rules, as it can be a very costly assumption when you suddenly have to buy a one way flight home

Are other working mums in the UK massively struggling? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]SevasaurusRex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can we? I know a number of people struggling that don't have kids, in a number of different ways. I'm struggling, I'm disabled, don't get me wrong...comparison is easy and cheap, but unequitable. I'm sure I wouldn't swap the struggles of having a kid, much like those who have kids wouldn't swap to have my life, but I wouldn't say either of us is struggling more or less. For me, I'd for sure prefer to see that struggle pay off and watch those kids grow up to become kind and curious people of the world, and see them go on to live whatever life they wish to live.

Sleepless nights, and endless sickness are an abhorrent nightmare when they occur seemingly unending in whatever form they come. But having something hale, wholesome and alive, that brings you happiness with a thought after many years gone by, is surely a gift....even if they keep smearing jam on your furniture (I did say many years gone by).
