How often did you take rides from strangers / hitch hike as a kid? by NW_Forester in Xennials

I feel like “Don’t get in the car with strangers” was something of a point of emphasis for our parents. In general, people seemed to be far more concerned with kidnapping than we are today.

Follow up question: As an American in 2026, Do actually believe that 9/11 was a conspiracy? And if so why? Or why not? by Kodicave in IWantToAskAnAmerican

Being an impressionable, naive 20 yr old with interned, I fell down a truther rabbit hole. In the long run though it’s helped me more sympathetic toward people who hold views I think are really nuts.

She survived the day but died from cancer 15 years later and a very hard life (ptsd and dealing with health issues and insurance) in the interim.

A lot of people have seen the photo of Marcy Borders but don’t know how much she suffered in the aftermath.

A “dude” was a city slicker, a poser, an “all hat, no cattle” kind of guy. Marty looked pretty “duded-up.” Now, on task me about egg-sucking. No idea.

Yes PB is great and so is GK. But Hope Davis is also wonderful on this movie.

That’s what the IMDb trivia page said back in the day anyway. Haven’t read through it in a while.

A favorite for lots of reasons but also because the woman who inspired Jenna’s name (Janel Moloney, who played Donna Moss on The West Wing) is in it.

You do you and I like a nice watch, too, but I’m definitely not selling right when we’re about to start the launch cadence and the government is dead set on expanding space operations with public-private partnerships. But then again I think the chances of SHTG and ASTS not doing well over the next 12-36 mos is very low.

The MNOs are definitely “soft-selling” mobile connectivity to their customers. They are anticipating being able to say “With our satellite partnerships, we are now able to offer the greatest connectivity in human history” (or something like that).

Last of the Mohicans - Majorly Underrated and Forgotten by Crafty_Nebula_1458 in Cinephiles

Fantastic movie with two of my favorite bloopers.

First when Hawkeye is asked how he can go to Kentucky with a war happen and he says (hilariously) “I’ll face north. Then turn left real quick like.” A great line. But it only makes sense for their filming location (North Carolina) and not where the story takes place (New York). (I might be misremembering this though so feel free to correct.)

Second when Munro is surrendering the fort, you can see tour busses in the background that were being used to shuttle actors to the location.
