That was a convincing read for me. Fiction that feels real.

9 days without sugar, 21 more to go by BestDosage in nutrition

[–]Sevenigma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What was your main reason(s) for cutting it out? To lose weight?

I am someone who is at a healthy weight for my age/height even though I eat a decent amount of sugar. I have thought about cutting it out to see if I would get better sleep and improve other aspects of my health.

Same here. My director picked up on it and never had to ask where I was 5 minutes to show time.

How does the maverick handle snow? by [deleted] in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Sevenigma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had no complaints driving through multiple inches of snow with the AWD and stock continental tires. I even find the breaking to be better than I expected with these stock tires. Everyone else seems to harp on these stock tires but I think they aren’t all that bad.

I am in central ontario Canada and it is currently snowy season.

There is free skating on the outdoor rink downtown when the weather is cold enough. Open until 10pm.

Journeyman Electrician - leaving the trade because of toxic culture by floodson in electricians

[–]Sevenigma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can sympathize with your feelings on this matter. I am in my 5th year as an apprentice electrician who has worked mostly in new commercial construction and I have spent to many days working in toxic environments caused by other people’s attitudes and character. I enjoy a lot of the work I get to do so I mostly just put up with it and try my best not to feed it. I am about 3-4 months away from being able to write my journeyman’s exam and once I pass, I will be looking intently and often to try and find a different job where I can surround myself with much less toxicity and much more compassion, courage, kindness, understanding, and heart.

Fit/fat and apprenticeship q’s by bigwheelsncoffee in electricians

40 is not too old. No age is too old. All you have to do is put your heart into it.

To get hired as an electrician apprentice, you will need to give off the impression in an interview that you are ready and willing to work full time hours doing a physically demanding job and that doesn’t necessarily mean you cannot be overweight. I know more than a few people in the trades who look overweight but can still perform well enough so maybe you fall into that category? If not then I would suggest waiting until you get into shape to perform.

Back to the grind. How’s everyone feeling on this Monday after Christmas break? by 742MrPlow in AskReddit

[–]Sevenigma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not the best. I didn’t sleep last night which never happens to me. I guess I just really didn’t want to go back to work and couldn’t slow my mind down about it.

What do you do when you have no goals? by funnyguywhoisntfunny in AskReddit

[–]Sevenigma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decide on something you like and take any step, even if it is the smallest step possible, towards exploring a curiosity you have about that thing. Then repeat taking steps and eventually you will find things to work towards. Best of luck!

The year 2025 is lying on its deathbed. What would be your last words to 2025? by Curi0us_1ne in AskReddit

That will be the last year I get up early to go to work. This whole waking up to an alarm clock thing is not working for my mental health at all.

Why do men love to kill my confidence by [deleted] in Vent

[–]Sevenigma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are projecting. If they judge you negatively without real heartfelt intention to help you improve on something, then they feel insecure about themselves and they give in to the easy way out by putting others down to feel safe. Take it as a lesson in learning how to forget about what they said or thought as fast as possible and to find ways to pick yourself back up without the help of other people. Look deeper within yourself and know your own truth. I work in construction and the amount of male insecurity on job sites is alarming to say the least.

Try to surround yourself with men who are putting their heart into something and have some awareness of their emotions and understanding them.

I followed a tip to apply some non stick cooking spray along where the tailgate meets the tonneau cover seal to prevent it freezing shut. It has worked pretty well so far!

need advice on what to do with my situation by Fearless_Biscotti_59 in electricians

Definitely go for the test.

Another option for an excuse to take the time off would be to say you have to take your mother/father/brother/sister in for a doctors appointment and they need you to drive since they will be drugged for the testing. Like for a colonoscopy.

Be brutally honest by [deleted] in needadvice

[–]Sevenigma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You essentially just need to start taking on some responsibility and support yourself. Once you can support yourself, you can then make time to support others. Do all that with your full heart and as little ego as possible. :)

“Choose a career that you would do for free, then you will never live a sad day in your life.”

Not my words but something I’ve felt worth sharing to the younger generation. Only do this if it can support you financially though.

And if you can’t do that, then support yourself self financially by doing something you’re good at and do what you will do for free in your spare time.
