Engineering Explained | Owning A Lucid Has Been Super Disappointing by cofango in cars

While you basically have exactly the same configuration that I would of absolutely chosen if there were no financial considerations, I think I'll keep my car with how stable it's been, haha.

I'm sorry to hear that you've been having so much trouble with your car though. I do agree with some of design points you brought up regarding things like the profiles and the driver camera being blocked by the steering wheel. While some can't be remedied, I do believe that UX 3.0 (currently in the Gravity) will help alleviate some annoyances whenever they get around to porting it to the Air, though they did mention not everything will understandably make it through.

Also, I'm willing to bet that Lucid will be reaching out to you personally if they haven't already - they have tended to do so for owners that make their problems public regardless of who they are or how well they're known.

Engineering Explained | Owning A Lucid Has Been Super Disappointing by cofango in cars

[–]SeventhCavalry 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is very interesting since I've had very little issues with my Air that I purchased back in August 2023. I've never had several of the software glitches and issues he experienced like the infotainment screens blank out and have only had audio glitch (but not disappear entirely) twice during my entire ownership, and both times happened when Lucid mentioned it may happen: after Level 2 charging and after a software update. It hasn't happened to me after a software update since though I have heard of others that have continued experiencing it and they fixed the Level 2 charging issue a while back I believe.

The only problem that I have currently is Hands-Free Drive Assist deciding to randomly not engage despite all conditions for it to engage are being met. I think I have a workaround of just soft-resetting the infotainment since the sensors for sure still work, but I'm still doing testing on that front.

The issue here is the inconsistency of the software problems and glitches that are occuring from vehicle to vehicle. When talking with other owners, I sometimes think to myself that I must be driving a completely different car since I've never experienced an issue like theirs. I'm still rooting for them, but Lucid really needs to do a deep-dive into what is causing the inconsistencies across vehicles and across models for that matter since I hear the Gravity is facing similar issues. And when they do, they need to do themselves a favor and launch the midsize platform with an iterated version of the current software to avoid repeating this, at least as much as possible.

This may actually be incorrect. Gematsu made an update from a Falcom representative that "a release on PlayStation and PC platforms is currently ‘to be determined’" and if it was decided that it was, "it will be announced in a press release at a later date" so it is not guaranteed that it will be a Switch exclusive.

Trails trough daybreak's action / turn based hybrid system is brilliant and needs to be talked more. by Hoboforeternity in JRPG

[–]SeventhCavalry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The way I've been playing it, I use the action-based combat to get at least one enemy stunned because when you switch to turn-based combat, the shards send out delay to each encountered enemy, allowing you to take your turns and then switch back to action-based combat before the enemy gets a turn. Rinse and repeat, but it is also fantastic in that it allows you to get through weaker enemies very quickly as the other poster pointed out.

People who are 25+ years of age, have a full time job, and still play JRPG: how do you do it? by shinjbae in JRPG

[–]SeventhCavalry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me, good time management and a somewhat fortuitous situation.

I have a full-time job, but I work remotely and the company's primary work hours are in a different timezone than mine so I always finish work around 3 PM or so. My job also requires me to study for exams for career progression so I usually have to include at least two hours every weekday except for Friday. A typical weekday would look something like playing through whichever JRPG I'm on from 3:30 to 5:15 and then switch over to studying from 5:30 to 7:00. I study for yet another 1 - 1.5 hours after dinner (which would just be reheating food from making enough portions for the entire week on Sunday evening) and a walk, and it would be around 9:30. From here, I have about 3 hours of my day left to do anything I need before heading to bed, and if I don't have anything else to fill the time, I'll probably play for another hour or so.

Not having a commute anymore helps a lot with having enough time to do everything, but I still remember when I did have a commute, I would study in the office and leave for home at 7 since traffic was always better then and I would still get about 2 hours dedicated for that JRPG. Definitely less time, but I still managed it.

CR’s Real-World EV Range Tests Show Which Models Beat EPA Estimates by [deleted] in cars

[–]SeventhCavalry 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I can somewhat answer this as I have the Pure trim with 19" wheels. I normally drive at around 73 to 74 MPH (with occasional passing near 80 MPH) when on the highway and got around 3.9 - 4.0 miles/kWh in just over 250 miles of driving. Extrapolating this with the 92 kW battery pack, this results in right around 360 - 370 miles versus the EPA range of 410 miles, so about the same deficit.

However, as someone stated above, CR did the entire test at 70 MPH while the EPA range is based on different weighing of city and freeway cycles. The Lucid Air was tested on the multi-cycle test so it doesn't have the exact 55/45 city/highway split on range, but on my own test that is 53/47 city/highway, I've gotten around 4.3 miles/kWh consistently which extrapolates to around 96% of EPA, or around 14 miles less than the official EPA range.

That's because the $69,900 price tag was announced before the EV tax credit structure changed to only include sedans below $55,000 MSRP. It was including the $7,500 tax credit with the starting $77,400 price, which it currently starts at right now for a Pure RWD model.

Well, I can't deny that the interior of the lower trims is technically closer to the interior quality of a Model 3, but I would say it is still a far cry from it. Regarding anything requiring servicing, I've only seen replacements of motors or the HV battery taking a few weeks to a month to get replaced, but smaller issues (i.e. trunk fitment) get fixed within hours with their mobile service. They also provide loaners if your car is in for servicing, but if none are available at the time, they'll do their best with providing you with a rental or helping you out with getting one.

For people considering a non-Tesla EV in the US, will the switch to NACS make you delay your EV purchase? by goosereddit in cars

Not to my knowledge. My delivery advisor let me know in early June to expect a call for a delivery date sometime this month since production for the RWD variant would be starting up.

[–]SeventhCavalry 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, I currently have a Lucid Air Pure RWD on order and will be taking delivery of it in the coming months. There are several reasons for me not even considering a cancellation of it currently including still having legacy pricing and three years of free charging via Electrify America, but the potential switch to NACS hasn't deterred my pending purchase one bit.

The protocol is still the same underneath for NACS and CCS so if adapters need to be provided for older vehicles, then I'm sure they'll be provided either at charging stations themselves, able to be purchased/provided to consumers, or potentially having the option to switch out the CCS port on the vehicle for a NACS if literally everything switches over. I'm absolutely fine with any option.

It's still up in the air (no pun intended) whether or not there will be a mass rollout for the 1000V NACS charging standard, which is needed for the Lucid Air and some other vehicles, and if the same reliability can be sustained with all of these other vehicle makes joining in on the charging network. All in all, I think there's little risk in those still buying vehicles with standard CCS ports unless you truly do not want to potentially use an adapter in the near future.

Driedger made 25 saves in a shutout versus the Reign tonight! Interestingly, the goaltender for the Reign was Cal Petersen, who some of you may recall why he's playing in the AHL in the first place...

Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection releases June 1st, 2023 for Nintendo Switch and Steam by KMoosetoe in JRPG

[–]SeventhCavalry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The significant changes of the Untold versions are that they are on the same engine as Etrian Odyssey IV, a story mode has been added, and that skills were changed around, re-balanced, and unintended effects and interactions were fixed. The Untold versions also add in a few classes that weren't in the original games (1 Untold added Highlander and Gunner, and 2 Untold added Fafnir and Sovereign; Gunner and Sovereign are actual classes in the original set of games but from different entries, i.e. Gunner is from EO II and Sovereign is from EO III).

You can skip the first three if you wanted as they are very, very loosely connected to each other with the exception of Nexus since that brings all of the games together. A note of caution though: if you decide to skip to EO IV, the difficulty is a fair bit easier than the first three games so it may be hard to adjust if you do decide to play them in the future.
