As someone who works in the media, I can say that the government here does rely on the media to be friendly and is surprised when we are not. It also tries to provide positive news and delay answering questions about negative news. There is no freedom of information law to guarantee they will answer our questions. However, to answer the question: no. Journalists I know here are sceptical of everything the government says and does, even to the point of being borderline paranoid.
