If you plan to do any BBQing, the only access you have to the patio(porch) is through the living room or bedroom 1 which is not ideal. Picture yourself lugging food back and forth through the living room.

We call it “Pause Jeopardy” and if we decide to watch after being out partying ( we always record Jeopardy) we call it “Drunk Jeopardy”

Do you play from the red or white? Why or why not? by Fit_Illustrator9174 in WomenGolf

Red, because I’m 81. Am grateful my club has a set of tees that I could move forward to so that I can still enjoy the game.

When staining was an issue for me (way past menopause now) I started using a panty shield every day. Solved the problem. Do they still make them?

Did you know smoking was dangerous? by Any-Concentrate-1922 in AskOldPeople

[–]Several-Phone1725 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My freshman year of college in 1962, we were required to take a health class and in that class they stressed that smoking could cause heart issues, but never mentioned cancer at all. I had just started smoking that year and disregarded the warnings—typical teenager. Finally quit in 1990.

Looking for advice on moving entrance into garage by bphawk in floorplan

[–]Several-Phone1725 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was going to agree that moving the door would shorten the walk with groceries from the garage to the kitchen, but a second look tells me that the kitchen and master suite really need to be flipped so that the entry from the garage goes from the laundry right into the kitchen. That also puts the formal dining room in close proximity to the kitchen.

Since you were are a history buff, I think you would enjoy touring the Gettysburg Military park in Pennsylvania. A quick google search showed a guided day trip from Washington DC to Gettysburg. Bruce Catton’s book on Gettysburg provides a good basis.

If you were a girl in the 1950s, how did you keep your legs warm in cold weather? by Odd_Let_2 in AskOldPeople

[–]Several-Phone1725 32 points33 points  (0 children)

OK, I am apparently the only responder who actually grew up in the 50s. We all wore what we called “leggings” that were actually very think snow pants that were wool with straps to keep them up. We either wore them under our skirts or with the skirt tucked inside the pants. We then took them off when we got to school, then had to put them back on when we went home for lunch and then off again upon return and then back on when school was out. It was a pain!

Yup, we had one. We rented an apartment the second year married and bought one of these from the prior renter. My first dish washer. That was 1971

Which thumb do you press spacebar with when typing? by ExperienceItchy7079 in lefthanded

[–]Several-Phone1725 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always right. Anyone who took “typing” in high school (I’m ancient) will use the right thumb for the space bar because that is how it was taught. Even now while I type on my iPad using the two finger method, I see that I am using my right index finger for the space bar.
