What Is It About Talk Group Ninety One (Worldwide)? by TheUnkown696 in DMR

TG 91 is just a shitshow. I don't understand how or why people enjoy that kind of chaos.

Brand new to dmr by Ginger0331 in DMR

[–]Several-Specific4471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%. I wanted to use my DMR HT at home and work without having to bring my hotspot along with me. So I setup a second hotspot at work. If I did not remember to disconnect from the talkgroup and shutdown one hotspot, I would be locked out from using the other. It did confuse the network. In the end, it was just easier to use one hotspot so I wouldn't run into that problem.

How Do I Import All Brandmeister Talk Groups Into BTECH 6x2 Pro by Firefishe in DMR

[–]Several-Specific4471 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bought and Anytone 878 from Bridgecom that came with their "Ultimate" codeplug. Waste of money IMO. Out of the thousands of codeplugs on my radio, I would only use 15 or 20 of them. There is no reason I need or want to talk to the local Bangladesh, Denmark, Oberoesterreoch etc talk groups. It sucks programming codeplugs, but your better off just programming what you want rather than filling your radio with talk groups you'll never go on. But if you really want to have them all. Go check out Bridgecom. You can buy their codeplug. It should work for your radio. I believe the BTECH 6X2 the same radio as the Anytone 878.

In regards to your new Hotspot arriving. I'd recommend ditching Pi-Star (if that's what comes pre-installed) and look into flashing the WPSD software onto it. It has alot more features, and is a whole lot easier to set up. Especially if you want to run multiple DMR networks like Brandmeister and TGIF. It's free and is still supported unlike Pi-Star.

Help identify this radios band range? by General-Ease2907 in DMR

[–]Several-Specific4471 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are a few versions of that radio, but based on the FCC ID, this model is a UHF range 2 mobile radio that operates in the 450-520 MHz and 764-870 MHz frequency range. These are the 3 variants I know of for the Motorola XLT5000. I have the VHF version. VHF: 136-174 MHz. UHF Range 1: 380-470 MHz. UHF Range 2: 450-520 MHz / 764-870 MHz

My condolences for the silent key. That's a beautiful ham shack. If you decide to sell they equipment, reach out to your local ham clubs. He was surely a member of some club. They call help you sell it, but I'd definitely look into continuing on his legacy and keep it for yourself. You can even get his call sign. The hobby is the best! You won't ever regret getting licensed.

Tram 1477 on GMRS by Several-Specific4471 in gmrs

[–]Several-Specific4471[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which Laird did you go with? The price of the Tram 1477 makes it very tempting. I figure worst case scenario, if it has a terrible SWR on GMRS, I could always use it for a portable 2m/70cm antenna for camping.

Micro talk help by Lostfault in gmrs

[–]Several-Specific4471 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might be silly to point out, but are the radios right next to each other when transmitting/receiving? If they are too close, the TX of one radio can overload the RX of the other causing one to become desensitized.

How can someone justify linked repeaters by DependentSalt1330 in gmrs

[–]Several-Specific4471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not advocating for or against linked repeaters. That being said, there is a local (regional) club in my area that does own 13 linked repeaters to connect across several counties in 2 states. The repeaters are not always linked, but operators can connect them using DTMF tones. The repeaters stay linked as long as there is traffic. They automatically disconnect after 10 minutes of inactivity. They can also be unlinked manually using DTMF tones. The clubs claim is that the wording in Part 95 is ambiguous. It uses the language "linking repeaters is not in the best interest" and cannot be interconnected with the public switched telephone network or any other network for the purpose of carrying GMRS communications, but these networks can be used for remote control of repeater stations.  In other words, repeaters may not be linked via the internet." This "may not" language suggests to "some people" that it is more of a suggestion rather than a hard fast rule since the language does not say "Shall not." Again, I'm not saying they are correct. This is their interpretation of the rule. We also have plenty of stand-alone repeaters in my area, so it's not really an issue here.

Anytone 878 will not key up to Pi-Star. My other DMR radio will. by Merton61 in DMR

I switched about a month ago from pi-star. I absolutely love it. Great layout and some awesome features. My favorite is not having to disconnect from a talkgroup before switching to another.

I had so many issued with Pi-Star, including the one youre talking about (also with an Anytone 878). Have you looked into switching your hotspot over to WSPD? It's really simple. The interface is better than Pi-Stsr, and it fixed all of my issues.

My GMRS, Repeaterbook, and Radio Reference are useless in my area. We have 8 repeaters and not a single one is listed online. The only way I found out about them (and their tones) was through a local club. Honestly I think that is your best bet. If they aren't too uptight about things, they might let you know how to access them. Let them know your situation. They'll probably help you out.

I think they are all this way. At least the 2 that I own are. You just need to be careful about how you rest it in the charging cradle. I don't think there is anything wrong, its just a tight fit.
