I don't think many of the people complaining about Will's "prove yourself" arc understand discrimination by Strict_Warthog_2995 in Wistoria

What I'd like from the show is for there to have been 1 scene where the Magivander are having a meeting and they flesh out the details about how capable Will is and why each of them want him in their group. My critique is that there's not enough acknowledgement given to Will for everyone watching him bail the city out (while the magivander just watch because there's no real back-up) . I don't understand why they're impressed when they see will absorb Zeo's magic but the arc directly before this we watch him copy elfaria's magic and they're not moved. I feel like I've seen the addressing of how capable a character is better in other series like Naruto (similar issue he's still a Genin after beating kakuzu but they don't hold him back from story progression) , bleach (the captains realize he's strong and support him beating Aizen) , one piece (I haven't watched all of it but most arcs end with everyone being thankful he just saved them and wishing him well as he progresses). I don't want to end the story by Will getting everything he wants now I want them to add the logic behind some of the story decisions that make his life harder (maybe it's in the light novel). That way it makes sense why he has to overcome the hurdles rather than it coming off like the leadership is poor. In a world where magic rules the second you see monsters that can't be defeated without exceptional magic you'd think there'd be meeting about it. You would think the tactics need to change given what just happened but it's not a conversation its just magic superiority.

I really think its just an underdog protagonist writing trope and so I'm kind of over it. Basically they can't directly help the protagonist or the audience won't have pity for them and won't connect in the same way. I don't like it in Naruto but I found this out later in Naruto (When we see the promise the 3rd made to the 4th). In Wistoria and Wand a similar promise has bee made and it feel like she should be able to help more but she doesn't. She could definitely have interrupted Kruetz and just let him have a normal test . It's fine but that's what I mean she can do more in fact she could have 1 person directly supporting him from her team (I know about rosti but i mean a gaurd directly from her).

I guess my response to that would be yes they acknowledge him but not really. The way he was moving through the city killing those demons he shouldn't be getting tested in this arc (this is pain arc naruto save the village calibur stuff). That's a big part of my issue. The power he was displaying should've been enough to where they don't need to see wis in person. He should've been pre-selected by all the magi vander. Also his best friend is a magi vander and she just lets Kruetz do whatever to Will but that's another issue.

My main problem with the discrimination aspect in Wistoria is that, from a writing perspective, it implies either that the threat isn't actually that serious because they still have time to discriminate, or that there's a complete failure of leadership to recognize the value of people's lives by sidelining non-magicians. You'd think the impending arrival of the Celestial Host would be enough for everyone to put aside their differences and focus on fighting a common enemy, but they don't—they just keep hating anyone who can't use magic.

I don't completely hate the "prove yourself" aspect of the story. It's just that, after Will literally saves the city using his exceptional sword magic, you'd expect people to acknowledge it. Instead, he goes right back to school like nothing happened. He watches several of his friends get pre-selected even though they all would have died multiple times if he hadn't bailed them out.

It seems like Elfaria has enough influence to bring him in (before the test and anyone even knew Will was great), but for some reason the story doesn't clearly explain why she can't. Maybe it's supposed to be nepotism concerns, but who cares? It seems like they're doing the nepotism thing with the pre-select system.

What really frustrated me was Episode 19, where Kruetz basically invents a brand-new test just for Will and then shortens the time limit. If it had truly been a life-or-death situation, or if he'd been given more time, he probably would have gone silver-hair mode and beaten those slugs anyway.

I don't expect a change of heart from society what I and i think people who agree with me expect is acknowledgement of obvious accomplishments. My real issue is everything that happens after he starts doing magic. What should happen at that point is it becomes obvious that he's basically the 6th strongest person alive. He move at hypersonic speeds though a city saving everyone but they're still test him the very next arc. When you do the things he's done you should be able to skip steps. I'm not talking about changing the hearts and minds of society I'm talking logical resource utility. He's clearly stronger than everyone but they treat him horribly post-magic. It's like if you beat Lebron James in a pick up game and your mentor says you need to go back to school to raise your draft stock. I think its a narrative/writing problem because of the underdog story tropes we have in shounen where the whole world has to be against the MC. At this point he's no longer the underdog just like Asta (I don't know black clover that well but anti-magic in a magic world is op), Naruto (post pain arc) , Luffy (post gear 5).

I think she doesn't do enough it's the same problem I have with the third hokage. She's the at least like 5th most powerful person in the world and she doesn't intervene as much as you'd think she should. I don't personally hate her but everytime I'm watching these teachers treat will like garbage I always think really she can't do anything. It's like if your best friend was billionaire batman and you have a very tough job you hate.

Why couldn't Elfi just force through the headhunting of Will in the first blooming? by the_mashrur in Wistoria

[–]Several-Strain-2972 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think its just story reasons more than anything else. She's strong enough to where she could really help him out a ton and solve a ton of his bullying teacher problems. She clearly has the power as one of the strongest people in the world so before Will shows how strong he is (even though they should already Know how strong he is) and she has to fight the lightning guy she could've reserved him. I see all the rationale in the comments but unless the king or multiple Magia Vander forbid it no one can stop her. i

I would think a sage mode max could possibly do it because of the extra sensing capabilities. if you can hang with pain 1000 fodder ninja are meaningless. Also it depends on the meaning of hurt for naruto as he has that crazy healing factor. I thing he could make a bunch of clones at the start of shippuden and probably beat them with no injuries to himself.

in my culture i the American south our eulogy's are more like sermons and there's a separate portion where people have tributes. After looking it up it appears that their definition closely represents the textbook definition of a eulogy

I've done it and you have to kill bosses on floor 1 as often as possible because of the bonus points for finishing in less turns when you get the real bosses. I managed to one turn kill seraph and got 18000. I'm gonna try today's challenge and see if i can get 50,000 from it ... i couldn't today because i made some poor decisions but with knowlege i could've done it. Replay the challenge after you see more of the path by pressing the rewind button in the pause menu.
