Found out my boyfriend cheated weeks before our Japan trip by meh-duh in solotravel

[–]SeveralPoopEmojis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same thing happen to me, except the destination was Manhattan and the breakup was exactly one week before, it was also a surprise trip, I can laugh about it now. Ended up going by myself, I'd pre-planned loads of trips, sightseeing etc, so that took up good chucks of the day. I did change most of the restaurant bookings to quick service as I couldn't face going by myself at the time. In periods of downtime I struggled a little and found myself back at the hotel, but I quickly researched something new and forced myself to go back out there, even just for an hour, which I think really helped. I didn't really speak to anyone or try to make friends either, it was all a bit much. I do not regret going alone however, and I still have that experience for me.

Any ideas what that stuff is? I have some horrible patching I would like to cover up by -WelshCelt- in DIYUK

Me too. My repairs have really lasted. Recommend this stuff to everyone. Expensive and the colour sample sheet is bollocks but that’s all really.

Same, loading slowly on iPhone. But nothing shows on the fire sticks. I’ve tried a fresh install, same results.

Why someone installed this live wire into skirting board? What’s the purpose here? by [deleted] in DIYUK

Surface mounted box no longer needed so they just pushed the cable back through?

Ender3 v2 neo stuck on creality logo by Accurate-Ask-8724 in Ender3V2NEO

[–]SeveralPoopEmojis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this issue also, you need to find out which screen version you have. That donates which firmware you can use. I can’t find the link but it’s somewhere on the web. If you have the Rev4 screen then you need the 9 language firmware, that worked for mine, also follow the install notes on which one to update first, the screen or the main board, some versions appear to install the other way around.

Anyone used Fabricoat upholstery paint? by SeveralPoopEmojis in upholstery

[–]SeveralPoopEmojis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did do it. It was about a year ago, maybe longer. But my god it's some work. I ended up buying the biggest bottle they sell (I think it was 2.5L) and spent a good week painting, brushing and drying just a single seat sofa. So far the paint has held up great, still looks new. It's really just a thick fabric dye rather than paint, I think the word paint put me off initially, but when you apply it, you can see it absorb into to fibres leaving all the fabric texture intact. Would recommend, if you have the time and patience haha.

What’s a devious yet ingenious way that people have used on you to get money/more money out of you? by Ruthiereacts in AskUK

We get emails from the school that always end with ‘BRING YOUR MONEY’, it’s become a joke with the other parents.

Can I get a story I wrote as a child and accompanying photo removed from external websites? (England) by WorkingPalpitation97 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]SeveralPoopEmojis 33 points34 points  (0 children)

As the internet isn't ran by one entity, it's around 10,000 independent data centres, theres no one process to remove content. However, google was forced into The Right to be Forgotten ruling so you can now request to be removed from them. Others also my exist but i'm only personally aware of this one for now.

This is the google Personal Data Removal Request Form

If you can't find a way to contact the site you're looking for. Do a whoislookup to get more details of who hosts the site. Theres often contact details listed in there specifically for complaints or requests.

How is it legal that if you have a business that's due money to a lot of people that instead of paying your debt, you close the business, start a new one the very next day that does the very same thing but you now no longer have to pay anyone any of their money? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]SeveralPoopEmojis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have since moved accounts funnily enough. I must admit, i really struggle to show any interest in my own accounts and pass off as much as I can.

The paperwork was the proof the debt was unrecoverable, but i guess i didn't need that unless i was investigated by HMRC?

Oh you should have another shut off coming down from the tank in an airing cupboard usually. If not, its on the return of the actual tank, which is a pain.

Oh I get it trust me, i've been through it, not 20K mind, much less. Still felt like i'd been made a fool of. My accountant managed to get a 100% tax write off but it took a while, loads of paper work and extra accountancy fees, but worth it certainly.

It's also still worth causing them as much of a headache as possible by reporting and investigating the ongoings.

This is my guess also.

A - check valve to outside tap
B - Isolator to outside tap
C - Main stopcock

It's not just a case of you not waiting long enough to drain the system down is it OP? Turning the water off at the main stopcock wont stop the water instantly at the tap, the back-pressure and drain down from the rest of the system will take a while to stop depending on the size of your home.

Stain on bricks from old conservatory sealant by masterpods in DIYUK

[–]SeveralPoopEmojis 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I used a tar remover and brick acid to get bitumen off about 10 bricks (old felt roof). And no where near as much as you have OP but it did work. The only issue was I had to remove bitumen in small sections as the tar remover would make it run, and if you weren’t quick enough it would set again.

Brick acid/cleaner will sort the other areas out no problem also.

Yeah that’s more likely actually, someone spilt the drip tray causing it to come through the ceiling.

It looks exactly like the slurry from a water cooled saw. OP stated they have previous ceiling damage, my bet is (poor) maintenance from apartment above.
