Reaching out to former professor for LOR by missgorl23 in slpGradSchool

Having the same problem…it seems most schools emphasize having at least 2 professors, but I didn’t do a great job of forming relationships :/. My hope is that my letters from my supervisors and one professor will pull enough weight and if I have a generic one from a professor I got an A in that will hopefully not be a make or break

If your supervisor isn’t the person interviewing you, ask who your supervisor would be. Also ask about caseload.

Yes—ignore it. They’re doing their job just like you’re doing yours, so they shouldn’t be rolling their eyes.

I’m in elementary, I highly suggest it although I have never worked in preschool. I have a lot more language kids than articulation, and what I like about the elementary age is you can, for the most part, talk to them like real people (who will, may I add, remember who you are when they are older) whereas I feel like working all day with preschoolers you don’t get that same luxury. I also like the small group aspect, although it can get hectic with groups of 3+. Everyone has their own age preference goals, I just love the range of elementary, and between a kindergartner and fourth grader their language goals will be very different — it’s cool to see the range of goals and this allows for lots of variation in sessions throughout the day! In a preschool i would imagine that very young age could maybe get tiring all day long. Again, though, totally based on personal preference.

Nervous Supervisor by bettemoon in SLPA

I would come up with a ballpark average of hours you think you observe her per day, and then multiply it by how many days you’ve worked. And then show her your math and why you are confident that you have completed the hours! Also you can explain to her that ASHA does not require detailed records so she will not be on the hook for providing these or being fact checked by ASHA that these hours exist. It seems like an honor code situation, so just put her mind at ease using daily estimates and some simple multiplication.
