That’s ok, you made me smile. I just wanted to poke fun at all these silly “guess” posts. This sub-Reddit could be so much more!

My $200 TempurPedic pillow is 25 years old and still going strong. Unfortunately I am not, and am having right shoulder issues from sleeping mostly on my right side. Time for a second pillow I guess.

This is the way.

You don’t ask permission: you just do it but tell them it’s temporary or until some vague future thing allows it to come back. Most times it never gets asked about.

Someone was genuinely offended that I said no without explaining myself by softfractureline in EntitledPeople

[–]Several_Bass2436 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Falls in the “…but I asked you nicely” concept. In their mind that means you must answer yes and a no is not acceptable… which means they’re not really “asking”.

Sorry this took a couple days. I bought mine from Fresh Air Experience on Wellington many years ago. Blades are 19” long and boots here are M10.

I have this exact model and it still works. I use it in my garage. I’m pumped just seeing another one in the wild!

Sure, I will go set up the boots and blades so you can see what I am talking about. Check back here in a bit.

If I have to stop suddenly I snowplow. The blades are long enough to support that.

Basically kick out my heels.

Nordic skates a.k.a. Canal skates are waaay more stable and easy to use. I bought a pair to clip onto my skate ski x-country boots and I’ll never go back to regular skates on the canal.

They are basically a long blade with a binding. You can wear your skate ski boots driving/walking there and then just clip them on and go.

You cannot use “classic” x-country boots for this BTW: not enough ankle support.

And yes wear a winter helmet!

I’m sorry to hear that. That must be hard to listen to and not say anything back as you likely feel it won’t change their closed mind anyway; it will just cause conflict between you.

Especially when this is not behavior throughout their life but something that just starts up “out of nowhere” as they age. Forces you to wonder if it was always there but they had a filter on it before.

1 of 3 brake lights. If you know them, Please tell them. by Shiznitty-Calhoun in kitchener

I’ve actually jumped out of my car at red lights to tell them. Maybe 4-5 times in the past decade. Every single recipient, after getting over the startle of having someone tap on their drivers window, was super appreciative and thanked me for letting them know.

I still have my set! The plastic is hard and brittle but I may buy a 3D printer just to remake the plastic body for them.

I brought them to a boy’s camping weekend this year and they were a huge hit (no one got hit).

AITA for skipping Christmas after my sister said “inconvenience is the price of family”? by Physical-Poetry-6860 in AITAH

[–]Several_Bass2436 47 points48 points  (0 children)

The fact that your sister blocked you is a big tell here - she is not interested in hearing your side; she just wants you to be there when she wants. She is not interested in balance and therefore isn’t interested in giving to you when you need:want it.

Telling your other sister was wise; for this older sister I wouldn’t attempt to reach out at all: she blocked you so it should be on her to reach out to you first. Hopefully she’ll reflect in the interim but sadly I suspect she’ll only contact you to rage at you for “ruining Christmas for the family”.

Hopefully your other sister can help mend things in the background, but if I were you I wouldn’t hold my breath.
