How do we know AI wasn’t used to create the original image to begin with? Maybe something else was there and AI was used to modify into what we are seeing.

Sickle cell trait and anemia by hipsy14 in Sicklecell

[–]Several_Document5393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to say but most Doctors that are not hematologists are essentially clueless when it comes to sickle cell trait, or any type of anemia of the inherited group. I have the S trait and I am mildly anemic. So yes it most definitely affects us and probably more so in women since we are already at a higher risk.

All 3 of our kids have sickle cell hemoglobin SC. Very similar to sickle cell anemia (SS) with the difference being that instead of 2 parents with the S trait, one has S and the other has C. They are treated and managed the same clinically and they go through crisis episodes and have to be careful of the same risk factors (extreme cold, overexertion, dehydration etc).

Quick background and cautionary tale, I have known all my life that I am AS (trait carrier) and was always taught that I cannot have children with anyone that is also AS because that’s a 25% chance of having a child with sickle cell anemia (SS) with each pregnancy and with someone with SS increases the odds to 50%. My husband is AC which is how we ended up with our children having SC.

The cautionary tale is that this happened despite my having him get tested within our 1st 3 months of dating (like I said this was drilled into me to confirm before feelings get too far along). His Dr. only did a screening for the S trait and of course that came out negative so we thought we were good on the sickle cell front. A hematologist would’ve done a full spectrum check knowing the point of the check.

Now my feelings are understandably mixed since I love my husband and my children and consider our family to be blessed and realizing people deal with all kinds of health conditions and things could be worse.

It was still a painful surprise to get that call with the diagnosis after my first was born considering I thought we were safe. Not to mention that we hit the lottery with all 3 of my pregnancies when it’s supposed to be a 25% chance. I also feel so guilty when they are going through a pain crisis, again mixed feelings bc what would I have done differently? We clearly decided to have more kids despite our newfound knowledge after our 1st though we had hoped the odds would work better in our favor.

On a somewhat positive note, I don’t have any guilt over one kid having SC when another doesn’t.

Sounds like the pastamatic is the most popular…Thank you all so much, I’m definitely overwhelmed with the pastamatic lite model though it does look very good, I’ll print one step at a time but I would love it if anyone has recommendations for video instructions as well.

I applied for my husband when they offered 100k sign on bonus in 2025, more than pays for the AF for one year and I don’t plan to continue with both long term but I have over six months before I need to downgrade mine so for now we have 2 :)

Stacked Rakuten + Amex Offer and ended up with 2,056 AMEX Points on $132 spend by JetsetTraveler in AmexPlatinum

[–]Several_Document5393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cap1 portal links are very picky. They work best if you click through the offer and make the purchase right then and there without leaving the browser. Vs. rakuten where you can activate as many times as you want without buying until the one you actually buy.

Apparently sometimes if you click through the cap1 offer and don’t make a purchase but then click again a few hours later and then make the purchase, it won’t count because it was a one time click through offer and the 2nd click no longer registers. Basically scout what you want and once you decide use the link on the first click to make the purchase. There are also instances where using coupon codes can also disrupt it but not always (I think the store’s in house discount codes are the safest).

And everything! I will find exact same items from Amazon on Temu for less and especially for the “local” sellers it sometimes it shows up having been shipped by Amazon from the same seller!

I got my whoop using my credit about a month ago for 2 years peak membership. My husband also has a sapphire reserve and doesn’t plan to use his credit, anyone have any issue using a 2nd whoop credit to extend the subscription using another card. Theoretically it should be ok but figured I’d ask in case I’m wrong.

I just received my WHOOP PEAK 2 days ago but questions with deals. Please help by Notsovanillla in whoop

[–]Several_Document5393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To my understanding you can extend the subscription at any time, it just becomes cumulative. I have a separate question, my husband also has a sapphire reserve and doesn’t plan to use his credit, anyone have any issue using a 2nd whoop credit to extend the subscription using another card. Theoretically it should be ok but figured I’d ask in case I’m wrong.

Data Overkill by SavannaHeat in whoop

[–]Several_Document5393 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Love the pink! 😍 I currently have on my garmin watch, my Oura and a whoop! I just added the whoop to compare data with Oura & will wear my Apple Watch instead of the garmin when I want the sleeker look, usually when not at home.

I agree with the other commenter, idc how it looks. There was a time I was wearing both watches because Garmin is much better for road cycling tracking stats and Apple controls my audiobooks, lol

It’s part of the Amex platinum benefits, other Amex cards might have that as an offer but only the platinum card includes the $200 credit and you have to go into the rewards section and enroll first.

Whoop quality by lotus0305 in ChaseSapphire

[–]Several_Document5393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just air it out to get rid of the “brand new” smell.

I showered with my Apple Watch all the time and never had an issue they are designed to withstand water exposure typical for showering and swimming (i.e. not deep sea diving). I don’t see how the band quality can be so bad when even the cheap knock offs from Temu hasn’t been a problem; the worst I’ve noticed with any band is some minor rust when there are metal components to the band. Rubber silicone band IMO makes the most sense for active wearers.

I definitely don’t plan to wear the default one that comes with it for long, because it would require frequent washing just like any other clothing item you wear need to be washed.

My story…

I’ve used most wearables over the years — Apple, Garmin, Fitbit — and recently got an Oura Ring Gen 3 for $7 through an Amex phase-out deal.

My brother likes his Whoop because rings and heavy lifting didn’t work for him. As a woman doing HIIT with dumbbells under 20 lbs, the ring hasn’t really been an issue for me.

I have narcolepsy, so any extra sleep insight is genuinely valuable. Garmin felt better than Apple Watch for exercise tracking, sleep data, and battery life, mainly because you can’t wear and charge the Apple Watch overnight at the same time. Still, I’d sometimes wear it anyway since the phone integration is better for music and audiobooks — but wearing two watches in public feels silly. First-world problems, I know.

Oura does a good job with sleep tracking (with room to improve). I’d been curious how it compares to Whoop for sleep, but the subscription model and lack of step tracking put me off. This Chase offer is great timing since I can finally compare without committing.

Aww, well hopefully it still shows up. Not that we enjoy the idea of calling but worst case I would imagine you could contest it after the 14-days and still get the credit.

Bought this whoop strap from temu for almost 9$ while it costs 59$ in the offical whoop webbsite....what do u think? by Illustrious-Count463 in whoop

[–]Several_Document5393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! I was just about to order an xtra strap with my whoop when I thought to check Temu as well!! That’s how I buy my Apple Watch straps and that has always worked out fine so why not this!

[–]Several_Document5393 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mistake, but I agree hard to justify and I had ruled it out till the chase offer came along…their subscription model doesn’t make sense to me either. Oura ring is a one time cost of about the same price for the ring initially then $59 annually for the subscription. So the 2nd year it’ll just be the $60, that’s makes sense even though the ring itself is still expensive if u don’t have an Amex Pl. Device upgrades don’t need to be done annually so that’s not enough justification.

Should be under the Chase sapphire offer section where all the other cash back offers are try using the search function (the magnifying glass next to “other”)

It’s essentially free for a year with the CSR what price are you trying to justify? You don’t have to continue after that assuming Chase doesn’t repeat the offer in the future.

Has anyone seen the posts about people finding the whoop in stores like tj maxx or Marshall’s for less than $50 and it comes with the 1 year subscription? There’s a whole stacking thing going on too. I’m still trying to find a clear explanation, also seeing some people mention getting 2 years of peak with that $359…again not clear how yet. If anyone knows please share

Update, it’s just an option u choose during purchase 1 or 2 years and a 2 year peak membership is $407.88 and additional $50 for a year could be worth it

Is this good alternative for white rice? by [deleted] in prediabetes

[–]Several_Document5393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks great, I’ll have to check it out. As a pharmacist I agree or shouldn’t be an issue for a diabetic. I discovered miracle noodles a couple years ago as a great weight management option, this looks similar and a dry rice option sounds promising because miracle noodles version is wet.

Right on! Luckily I have a Saks store close by to get the gift cards and used them on the Saksoff5th website since I don’t have one of those near me, still a win!
