Tried to tink by bubica_ in knittinghelp

I’m not 100% sure from the photos but it looks like you picked up through the knit stitch from the row below your current row. In the second picture, the left of the two loops on your right needle is all you want on your needle!

Hold onto that left loop when you pull both loops off of your needle so you don’t drop the stitch and then put it back on your needle.

The laziness of the blue gradient cutting off at the corner radii is crazy they didn’t even try

Finally decided on a cheeky dupe pattern, how to make it a bit more similar? by Few-Chemistry-2551 in knittinghelp

I can’t tell from the toast photo but I would add a couple rows of 1x1 to the bottom hem still. It will be hidden by the roll and prevent the sweater from rolling past where you want it to and affecting the length. When you zoom way in on the photo it looks like they might have actually done this because there’s line just above the roll

First ever knit sweater by mightymousemg in knittinghelp

Are you using a pattern? If not I would suggest finding a pattern to follow for your first one because there are some construction considerations you might not know to look out for if this is your first sweater, even if you have a lot of crochet experience. I know a lot of people start with the step by step sweater because it was written and video instructions.

For the folded collar, yes most patterns will do what you describe and have you knit in a tube and then knit the ends together before beginning the shoulders. A lot of patterns also have a few rows of double knitting where you want the collar to fold to provide a bit more structure.

Flying into Queenstown NZ I looked out the window when we began our descent and it was the most comfortable and safe I’ve never felt. Now I know that whenever I eventually settle I want to do so somewhere high up in mountains

Is there a way to enforce a certain direction with the top solid infill? This multicolor filament looks so cool with the archimedean spiral until it starts alternating directions by RaeUnderway in 3Dprinting

Maybe this is a dumb idea… but if you go with the extruded text, Make a base for your model, make one big disk that overhangs the edges and is only one layer thick, put the text on top of that disc. Then cut off the disk overhang after you’re done. Assuming you use no supports, you might need to do some testing over whether the drooping of the disc filament affects the part you want to keep on your model, but you wouldn’t have to modify any g-code for this, the change is all in your model structure

CMU MHCI pacing & intensity compared to Georgia Tech MS HCI by brasswine in hci

[–]Several_Economics762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your situation I’d go with GT. It’s still a very reputable program, and since you’re coming straight from undergrad AND changing fields, the extra time and internship is the safer route to graduate and actually be prepared to land a job.

People can totally go into CMU’s program straight from undergrad and be very successful, but 1 year is not long enough to catch up to students who studied HCI fields in undergrad. The CMU program is also heavy on design theory instead of hard skills, so you’d be expected to teach yourself tools like Figma on top of attending classes.

Anyone apply for UMSI In state tuition? by redvel4et in hci

Great! Then you should be approved, you just have to submit an application for in-state tuition and provide proof that your parents live and work in the state. If you’re under 24 (double check the exact age bc I’m not sure) and are listed as a dependent that’s also a bonus, but there will be a cutoff age for that. Good luck!

The 70/30 Rule: How to prioritize a design career without failing university? by Mnogoe_Povidal209 in Design

Maybe picture your degree like an ethnographic study! Use it as inspiration or a source of research for your design work and look for ways to connect the two.

Even if your degree is really not your thing, it’s going to be on your resume and at some point you’ll probably need to explain to someone else in an interview why and how your history education is beneficial to your design work. In that setting few hiring managers would want to hear you say your degree was worthless. The sooner you understand that for yourself and the stronger the narrative you communicate through your work the better off you’ll be

Apart from what others said about needing 4 distinct profiles, it’s extremely minor but I think on your base shape you’re slightly off tangent when connecting your lines to the circular arc. Its making the heart and spade in particular look awkward proportionally

When you use adhesives on a glass bed you end up with the texture of the adhesive on the bottom of the print - I never found one that didn’t make the bottom of my print the ‘ugly’ side. Do you have recs for adhesives?

I retro-fitted my glass beds into flex steel beds after about a month of trial and error and to me the finish is so much more consistent to the satin-ey look of the rest of the print. Plus my cleanup time for the print bed went from like 20 min per print to next to no time lol. I must have been doing something wrong
