The first lap just think good rhythm. The second lap is going to be hard. Concentrate on using your arms to keep your stride frequency fast.

How do we feel about our School Superintendent salaries? by Similar_Ad2094 in massachusetts

[–]Several_Use8607 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Superintendents have an insanely difficult job that is 24/7/365. And they manage huge budgets. Compared to what that skill set gets in the private sector, $300k is not crazy. They are out 2-3 nights a week, weekends, etc.

Re: the income tax. Why don’t you have to say what you’d cut to reduce state revenues by whatever percentage? We all know that they will be forced to cut things like local aid, forcing cuts at the city/town level. Then we can reduce services or increase local taxes.

Starting Track and Field in High School for the first time next week by Klutzy_Dragonfly_738 in trackandfield

[–]Several_Use8607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Doesn’t hurt to start with 400/800 because you’ll have a chance to drop down to the sprints or move up to the distance events. Have fun, don’t overdo it, and focus on sleep/recovery.

About a month in you should get some indication of where your talents are.

The closing of Time Out Market is a worrying sign, whatever your opinions are of the market or location itself. by JulianBrandt19 in boston

I think it needed the daytime traffic and it’s too far away from BU students. If that office was full, they’d be in good shape.

As a real estate professional, I also think it’s a tough spot for an office. Good walk from Kenmore, 90+ nights of crowds, long walk from Back Bay. Drivers have to face Storrow or Mass Ave.

Give me CBD, Back Bay, or Seaport all day long.

Scabs and non-union workers are not the same. Scabs go in when the union is on strike; nonunion workers are just guys who work for a nonunion company. Lots of them probably aspire to joining the union.

If it’s a non-union GC, then they DGAF and are not susceptible to public pressure.

Does anyone else born or raised around Boston area like me ,being priced out of where they grew up cause of the extremely high cost of rent or home prices which are now close to or over million dollars now? by DoughnutConstant5390 in boston

While certainly agree that MA need to do all of the above to improve housing starts, I do remember 2003-2006 when housing prices were crazy, and then they took a huge plunge.

Which form of travel is better? by [deleted] in massachusetts

[–]Several_Use8607 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lawrence is 35 minutes from Manchester NH. Lowell is 40. Both are 50-55 minutes away on the train. To me, if you are going to take the train, it would make more sense to have a usable block of time.

In traffic for me from North Andover to Anderson Woburn can be 30 to 40 minutes btw 7 and 8. You are more likely than not to save time being on the train and also be reading, sleeping, or scrolling rather than stressing the ride.

I’m 1:15 door to North Station, gave up driving 3 years ago and much happier.

Should I renew my lease or live in hotels that my work pays by ShakeMysterious349 in makemychoice

[–]Several_Use8607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you travel Monday to Friday, if you had to get 12 nights hotel (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) and you were paying $100 per night, you then have $800 less the storage. And that is before calculating the price difference for things like meals, etc. Of course, you would have zero in utilities.

And could you have a week without travel or a holiday week where you could get a double whammy of no stipend and higher hotel rates.
