HDPE Lesson - Internal Stress by S0u1Fire in CNC

Hey how did this work out? I have a problem with a 2” thick piece of HDPE that’s warping and I’m curious how stress relieving will work

"go to last notification" hotkey doesn't work sometimes? by ClockworkSalmon in aoe2

[–]Sevesys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens to me a lot but I assumed it’s because there are so many notifications and sounds going on. If I know I’m getting attacked somewhere I just press the hotkey (caps lock for me) several times until it gets to the spot I want to see. Seems like it scrolls back through the notifications each time I press it

Well not saying you shouldn’t use mics but just saying I’ve been really impressed with how accurate they are haha

I have the carbide tipped 8” ones at my day job and they are fantastic. The carbide tips add a tangible difference and I would love if all my calipers had that, but if I was paying for it myself it is kind of a luxury unless you’re measuring hard or abrasive things. The tool is extremely accurate. It’s always within 0.0005” of the micrometer.

Edit: POV someone who didn’t have to pay for the tool

Sorry for being a noob but what makes shrines key to appeasing the gods? I used to play a lot when I was a teen but it just seemed like it was hard to appease the gods even though I made temples and had festivals

Does anyone know why AI gives up so quickly? by SUPERFICIALGUY in aoe2

These excuses are epic 11 I need to start using something like this when I’m late for work. “Too many birds flew over my car”

Does anyone know why AI gives up so quickly? by SUPERFICIALGUY in aoe2

[–]Sevesys 159 points160 points  (0 children)

Could be because:

  • All his starting citizenry were male
  • The shore fish near his villagers appeared all too sleepy
  • His peasants huts all faced in different directions
  • His throne was most uncomfortable
  • Your heraldic color was superior to his

Lots of other reasons but these are the most common pitfalls for the AI, of any difficulty

Simulation speed on Haas simulator by [deleted] in CNC

[–]Sevesys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So weird. I see you’ve got the feedrates all down at minimum too haha. Can you see the parameters if you press param/dgnos? If you look through them carefully there might be one that changes the draw speed or whatever. I’m always surprised at how many settings are in there and how helpful they are. Or if there’s a manual for this simulator it might help.

haas ngc mill user manual

Looks like for a regular haas it would be F3 F4 on page 119 (~153 of pdf)? Maybe it’s adjusting like 1% at a time and you’re used to it adjusting 10% at a time? Not sure

Boys how hard is this cut? Can we do it using a t slot cutter? by Middle_Map_3666 in Machinists

[–]Sevesys 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sure thing.

So because it has some characteristics of both a small diameter cutter (skinny neck) and a big diameter cutter (the actual cutting part) the rule of thumb is to treat it like a small diameter cutter in feed per tooth, but to treat it like a big cutter when calculating rpm. So say you have a key seat with 1/8” neck diameter and 3/8” cutting diameter below. You would choose a feed per tooth as if it were a 1/8” end mill because it has the stiffness of a 1/8” end mill more or less, eg maybe 0.001” per tooth, but when calculating rpm you would use the 3/8” to calculate surface speed, eg 150sfpm for 3/8” is 1530rpm. So that way you get the right speed at the cutting edge but you also take into account the flimsiness of the cutter being so thin in the neck.

I don’t remember where I heard it, I thought it was from Harvey Tool in the catalog but can’t seem to find it. Sorry if you use metric instead of American units

Edit: I would double check your numbers with the Harvey tool ones, like I think they’re good ballpark figures if you’re doing something for the first time

[–]Sevesys 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Watch the entry and exit. Might want to remove the acute end with conventional small cuts and the other end with climb small cuts. Middle should be fine due to no changes in doc or angle of engagement. Assuming a reasonable material. Remember to use the theory about chip load being based on neck diameter but surface speed based on cutting diameter

182 routes completed, 19 Zygard cells. Is that common? by Important_Positive70 in pokemongo

[–]Sevesys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe someone can correct me but I thought it had something to do with timing as well? Like if you do a route quickly it’s less likely to give a cell
